Hope the VCM provides better MPG results than it does in the Odyssey.

268? I know its not a good idea to have more HP going to the front wheels but I thought we heard it would have more than the Camry? And I agree, where's the DOHC V6? Another misfire by Honda IMO. The styling of the sedan alone is bad enough.

Honda is an engine company ahead of their time...

Only their diary understands them.

All new TSX debuts in the spring. I bet it had more to do with MPG than it did the TSX.

Nope... they don't make "perfect" sense... I don't like 'em as I find them annoying... There has always been a debate on weither DRL actually do anything to improve safety.

Pros and Cons: http://nordicgroup.us/drl/

Is there any proof that DRLs in the United States reduce accidents?
No. Read the report at: http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/pdf/nrd...0/DRL7_RPT.pdf. Look at the conclusions on page 24

But the fact that its a SOHC engine of the same size as the one in the RL and the TL-S seems to indicate that Honda is just holding off in terms of ramping up the hp. I would not be surprised if the first MMC results in a 15 to 20 hp bump in power or more, depending on the competition.

And it really is time that Honda unleashed the DOHC on its V6 so that we can really see what these motors are capable of. All these SOHC motors are really starting to get a little silly.

268hp? The next gen TL had better have 300hp+!!

IMHO, there are bigger fish for Honda to fry than having to develop a DOHC V6 motor for the Accord/TL/Odyssey/Pilot/MDX/RL......like maybe a DOHC V8 for the next gen RL and NSX, from which they could later lop off two cylinders for Accord-platform use.

Looks like the guy in the first link has an agenda and throws out several personal opinions.

I'm sure I can find a few links that proves their worth but this isn't the thread for it. To me they make sense and I've never once been distracted by them in my 14 years of driving. I'm not sure how you find them annoying. If they help prevent an accident or two they make sense IMO.

unfortunately, i think both the Camry and the Altima will be #1 and 2 in this next gen family sedan battle war.

Camry has also 268 hp right in the V6? Altima has 270hp, but with even more gadgets than the Accord sedan will have. But, the next Accord coupe looks better than the Altima coupe, but the Altima sedan looks better than the Accord sedan. Toyota should dump the solara and just make a different looking Camry coupe.

Hopefully torque will come up to about 230+ on the V-6....this will put the honda on par with the current T/L....This is why my Acura sales guy has been pushing me to go to a T/L right now...I told him sure, make it a 'coupe T/L' and I am good to go...

My sales friend at Honda said it should be about 2-3 weeks before they get any 08s, sounds early...would not take $s down to hold one and said did not know what is coming in???

Spring 08 may be a good time to consider buying the Honda Coupe...by then we would have a good/fair read on the TSX and T/L and if you choose the Honda, prices should have cooled a little...?

No chance Altima sales outnumber Accord sales. The name alone is good for 400K units per year.

yeah that sucks. honda is starting to become like sony. it doesn't matter how bad or plain the design is, even with an engine that doesn't compete with the Camry or Altima it will still sell due to the househould brand name of Honda and Accord and it's past history just like sony has done with all their electronics and the PS1, PS2, and PS3.

^^You know what's funny; I've always thought of Sony as the Honda of the electronics world, and the other way around!

Aren't all companies like this? Toyota still sells a boat load Camrys just because it's a Toyota Camry. Doesn't mater how better/worse it is from competitors. It's been like this since the 80's.

Unfortunately styling is subjective. With these cars having such a broad range of customers, they are all "safe" designs. All have their pros and cons and nothing really stand out from another.

What's wrong with Honda's engines that makes it not able to compete?

Not quite feeling the steering wheel just yet, but I like the rest of the interior.

Oh and it doesn't look like the accord has Sport Shift for those that care

Its not as if Bikes are being run off the roads up here. I work with 3 people who ride bikes and not once have I heard them complain about DRL's.

In DRL is mandatory....but in the U.S. it's optional. The way I look at it (along with other riders like myself) the more I stick out on the road to the Asian woman with the dual visors on, driving the MB...the better it is for me. If my bike headlight is drowned out in a sea of cars with DRL...I become invisible.

That didn't stop the ass that pulled out in front of me in 3:30pm on a sunny summer day when I had my bike accident.

The car behind me had DRL's and was 15 or so car lengths bac, and even the driver that pulled out in front of me admitted he did not see me AT ALL, but instead saw the DRL's on the car behind me.

I think the new TSX will be pretty amazing...

Since the new Accord is so "upscale", with the interior and engine being upgraded to this sophisticated and near-luxury level, I think that the TSX has got to be much better than the current model. After all, Honda does not want the new Accord to cannibalize the new TSX! The new TSX must have sufficient differences and even more luxurious features than the new Accord in order to survive.

I suspect it will have a much more powerful engine and an even much more luxurious interior than the new Accord, and SH-AWD will set them apart too.

Not really, the current accord has more power than the TSX, and is relatively just as nice. The price of the two are within the same ballpark too. Maybe the new TL will..
