IMO the 2G TL is still the best looking TL exterior wise. Just my though
I used to agree with you, but i love the 3G TL now

It means that the RL is first luxury and after performant, the TL is first performant and than luxury.. it's sound really funny...

hard to understand even more now the reason of the late restyling for the RL.
before the 4thGn TL, there were the differences in dimentions, in power and the AWD, plus the overall better quality of the RL...
but now what?
the new TL has got the AWD, is big and is even more powerful than the RL...
I cannot understand.
The only difference will be the cooling seats maybe...
In my opinion the RL is dead.
Till the 2011...

I like it. The grille is weird, but I can get used to it. The wheels look amazing. Can't wait to see the ass and the interior!

It could have been much worse.

That being said, the grille FTL, the large fender flares FTL.

It's a decent looking set of designs, that don't seem to flow well together...sorta like the TSX.
Perhaps it will look better in person.

I fear how the rear end will end up looking like

The wheels are Suite!

I bet the interior will be nice.

Issues with that grille

I am not sure why many people say that this grille is not chrome. How do we know that it is not? I cannot tell from this - if you look at the chrome trim around the windows etc. it has the same color and texture. So I am just not sure that it really is not chrome. Whatever material it is, it will have lots of dents and chips after a trip on the freeway.

I think this looks far better in comparison to what acuranews.com has posted.

(Going slightly off-topic, I still think 2nd gen > 3rd gen >> 4th gen in exterior appearance. Call me biased...)

I agree with you on the styling comment. The long narrow design of the 2nd gen is beautiful especially when you throw a body kit on it. The back is also nice and simple, and kind of reminds me of the legend :-).

Most Acuras still use 1piston brakes but change the size of the piston(MDX) however before the brembos...

TYPE2 calipers ftw!

i think the 1 piston brakes is the reason for the warping rotors.. it makes sense seeing as all that brake pressure is on such a small surface area...

im probably wrong though

but for a 300+HP sedan, they better upgrade the brakes, its time to move up ACURA!

lol, but again the M3 also has a 1-piston design right..don't you think a M3 needs better brakes than a 300hp sedan?

the TL appears to be longer, wider, and bigger than the 09 RL, what is the point of the 09 RL then, if the new TL is going to have more hp and SH-AWD?

here's a chop that I tweaked using the JJaber chop. He had the orignal idea, I moved the grill down, made the NSX grilles wider, changed the rims to the JJaber rims.

Most people will never take advantage of 4-piston brakes on something like a TL. How many people road race their TLs on a regular basis? 0.0001%? 1-piston brakes are cheaper to make, plain and simple, and no one really notices or gives a crap, which is why they still use them.

BUT

A 1-piston caliper with brake pads that kick ass will outstop a 6/4-piston setup with shitty pads.

Actually, the 1-piston sliding calipers probably are the cause of the high occurence of warping rotors now that someone brought it up and after I think about it. That's because the way the 1-piston sliding calipers work is the piston pushes against the rotor, then part of the caliper assembly slides over and then that part pushes against the rotor. But with fixed calipers, there's an even amount of pistons on both sides (2, 4, 6, etc.) but they both clamp onto the rotor at the same time.

Pretty sure the same happened with the TL/RL last gen. The RL is getting a complete redesign soon, with V8, AWD/RWD, etc... Should widen the gap :P

True.

S2000 uses 1 piston calipers front and back. BMW resolutely stands by having just 2 piston calipers on the front of its M5s, M3s, and M roadsters.

Pistons mean nothing. I've never warped the rotors on the S - track use or daily driving. Tires equal stopping distance.

Cross-drilled rotors are another farce. A good ole plain rotor has more heat capacity and does the job just as effectively.

i like these new pictures of the TL! That front fender makes it look like the car is snarling. Hopefully it isn't much heavier than previous gen.

Given that Acura MDX has a nice grille, I don't know why the designers at Acura don't want to implement it.

I think there were a couple of early reviews on the MDX that didn't like the grille too much, unfortunately the ones that are coming out are just terrible.

If the rear shows that big 5 pointed wedge shape, then I'd say just forget about it.

^ I know, it seems like the MDX grille was a one time deal, all other Acura get the power plenum. I kinda like to see them mix it up a bit, the MDX's grille should definitely be used on other models.

acura noticed that ppl like the mdx grille too much....decided to not put it on any other models...they'll prolly change the mdx grill to match the rest of the line-up mid-cycle
