I have a feeling these new Acura "identity" grilles will be kicked to the curb in 5 years time.

:sigh: Jesus Christ. This has to be the biggest disappointment.

The girlle on the unveiled TL looks like shit. Here's to hoping that Acura gets a clue and gets rid of that nasty grill in the MMC in a few years.

after seeing that TL pic at the golf course, a few things came to mind:

1. dang, that chrome grille is large and will be suseptible to a lot of rock chips and will be noticeable.
2. it looks like they took the same hood cutout from the G35 and G37
3. i don't see any LED tails at all.
4. it doesn't look that much bigger or wider than the 09 TSX
5. the back does look like a saturn and has the same concept as the current Accord coupe, where there are no reverse lights or taillights at all on the trunk area at all.

All in all, it seems that Acura is trying too hard this time with the design.

I've never seen a car that has chrome that stretches to the top of the hood ever and probably never will again. That chrome grill will look like it will have a lot of acne on it after you drive it.

it has some good angles, but again that grille ruins everything. that thing is ginormous. EPIC FAIL!! i guess i'm ok with saturn-like tail, but still looks cheap. rear reminds me of a bmw a little as well.

I saw the golf course pics of the unveiled TL. It looks like shit.

I agree that overall, it looks decent otherwise. But like Peter Griffin said: its like Sarah Jessica Parker - "Weird Face on a hot body."

they need random drug testings at honda/acura. bimmer's are sporty, MB's are classy, italians are sexy, and acura is over-styled pile of crap.

Just when I thought the grill was growing on me.... it could be the angle but in the golf course pic the grill looks fuggin huge, and it also happens to look like And that rear is just terrible! Those long reflectors in the bumper don't do the trunk and tail lights any favors.

At least Acura grew some balls? But at the same time it seems like they killed off a few dozen brain cells.

Looks like painted plastic to me, which, if true, will be even more retarded. The MDX had a similar look piece of painted plastic on the rear hatch.

2. it looks like they took the same hood cutout from the G35 and G37
I'm very disappointed in those little piece of metal above the headlights. Looks like a bad GM design.

3. i don't see any LED tails at all.
The 3G TL had LED in the tail lights. Figure it out

4. it doesn't look that much bigger or wider than the 09 TSX
It doesn't "look" that way...

Looks like it's the Acura California design studio doing it's wonderful work to differentiate Acura products from Honda products. They really did their job this time. One can immediately tell it's an Acura TL all right (not a Honda) from miles away because of the massive ugly grill head.

Interior looks like crap from that one pic. Hopefully it's better than that, but the weird shaped silver trim on the door and dashboard isn't boding well.

all of the designs that are upmarket are "subtle" not flashy like that shit hole of a grille. I liked it until i saw that. The tail lights kinda look cheap.

It does look like the Saturn.

And what are all of the lights for? Headlights, DRLs, fog lights, and a fourth set of lights? That's overkill.

The design is a complete and utter disaster. It looks like parts came from 5 different cars, threw them all together, and came up with this "masterpiece." It's sad to see such an awesome car company crash and burn to the ground like this because I guarntee the dynamics of the car are excellent but no one in their right mind would want to be behind the wheel, piloting that enormous grille around with an even larger rear tagging along... I'll pass, thanks.

I think that the square bottom lights are the turn blinkers; hopefully that means that there are none in the usual spot next to the headlights as that would make 3 turn indicators (mirrors).

Altho not very aesthetically appeasing, I like this spot bc sometimes @ night it is hard to tell if they are on bc the light blends in w/ the headlights.

I just noticed the long stretch of metal/chrome that goes from the hood back to the trunk ... along w/ the huge grill that may be a bit much of the bling bling.

What a mess, a terrible mess.

The entire vehicle looks huge to me, the grille is freaking massive, and the rear end is a disaster and oddly shaped. Just when I got used to the grille on the TSX, which actually doesn't look so bad now, but the grille on the TL is just way too big.

OMG, what did they do???

I was really hoping I'd like this car, since it was on the list for my next car. Now I'm not so sure I can even get used to it. I seriously hope it looks better in person than it does in these pics. I can't even begin to explain my disappointment with this exterior.

i was looking at a 2008 TL-S at the dealership today while waiting for my car to be serviced. then i thought about the recent pics of the direction they are taking this car and i i just shook my head in disappointment.

i think Acura should outsource their designing to Mugen or Ron Jon.

I think you're right. I just looked more closely at the headlight, and it appears that the large yellow mass is only a reflector, not a reflector/light combo.

This is still Honda, the Design studio couldn't have done this. They only started in the last year and half.

Anyone else notice that the trunk lid is actually bigger than it looks from the side? The C-pillar runs down at a low angle, but the trunk lid doesnt start where the C-pillar hits the trunk area.

TSX will outsell the TL this time around based on the reactions here. I think all of us are embarrassed to own an Acura now. To me, the Euro Accord/TSX is the only normal and acceptable looking Acura car right now, the 09 RL is ugly and the 09 TL is ugly too. maybe it will grow on all of us though.

I wouldn't call it ugly, but I had a better impression of it from the initial press teaser pic. These real world pics, however, do not seem so impressive, especially the interior with the weird silver trim shapes.

i know all of you know that i like infiniti more than acura, but aside from the bad gas mileage in infiniti's you've got to agree that infiniti car designers have more creativity than acura designers. also, their designs have more class now than acura.
