How the hell does that grille make it from drawing board all the way to finished product without just one guy saying, "Whoa, what the flip have we done here?" I'm staggered.

I bet 80% that you guys is going to get used to the design and grow on it. This car is one of those design that will grow on you, just like 2nd generation TSX, G35 coupe, G37 coupe, and many more cars.
For 2nd generation TSX, initially all of you guys basically disliked it, but now, you guys love it. You know who you are! Complaining like a much of babies....lol
Same thing as G35 coupe and G37 coupe. Initially everyone hated its love/hate controversial design. But now, its very popular.
And now, the new TL. Right now, You guys are complaining and crying like a baby now, but later, you guys will get grow to like it!
I mean, YOU DIDNT EVEN SEE THIS CAR IN REAL LIFE!!! SO STOP COMPLAINING!!!!

From Jeff at TOV....
I have seen and driven the car. All I can say is that if you have been eagerly waiting for the '09 TL and you're ready to ditch it simply because of the styling, I would recommend that you at least hold off on your final judgement until you've had a chance to drive it.
If you already love the styling, well, all the better. Enjoy your upcoming 2009 TL.

I can't say I even like the headlights. They just look so boring.
I keep coming back to this thread to see the pics, hoping it'll grow on me. It just isn't, at all.

If you are an Acura fan, you'd be having a heart attack.
the taillight is the only plus.
Chrome is cheap. The current Gen exterior trim is very good (not much chrome). Remember that serious BMW buyers pay extra to lose the chrome (through the sport package).

oh my gosh that thing is a monster. from that angle the gril looks even worse than the official pics from acura. the back is an oversized civic coupe and the exhaust pipes are hideous. what were these guys thinking? I dont even know if this could grow on me.

Because for the first time in my life that is how I feel. Flabbergasted.

Edit: even the Koreans are doing a better job. It is one thing to have styling that is polarizing. It is another thing to look retarded.
As far as it drives...i am sure it will be excellent. But so is the RL....

Although it's the least of the car's problems, they couldn't even execute the Hofmeister Kink correctly...the rear door line cuts right through it. What an utter mess this thing is...my 04' TL looks like a work of art in comparison. And to echo Fibonacci, this thing is going to be a pig. The AWD version could easily top 2 tons.

The headlight housing reminds me of the new camry. I have a 2nd gen back home and i remember when that thing came out i was so happy to be driving an Acura. It looked sexy, was one of the first cars with HID's standard, and had an optional Navi. It was a simple but attractive design. The 3rd gen is nice too, though it took some time to get over how it was smaller than the 2nd gen and more sportier, but then that grew on me. This i dont even know what to say. That rear bumper is huge and the spoiler looks so ricey. Even the rear bumper reflectors are massive.

do you guys see any design similarities between the Acura Advanced sedan concept and the 09 TL? this has to be an early warning back then that Acura designers were going to screw up the TL or make it different looking.
