The same car in Asian Market or Euro Market > US market.

US always get the worst of them all.

3g tl sold well.

acura has been successful being "acura" in the past, no reason they can't do that again without becoming a clone of bmw/audi.

I prefer my current acura over the bmws I've owned.

Yes, it did. That was then, and this is now. The fact that they completely lost their way after the 3G TL is a well-plowed topic on this forum.

What, oh Mr. Automotive Business Genius, would be the formula they should follow to achieve said success? Everything they've tried in the last five years (excepting the SUVs) hasn't worked.

Nifty. The survey data in one of the links I provided you seems to indicate most customers in this segment do not agree with you. That's a problem for Acura.

Reminds me of my beloved 3G. So I know in 2020 when these become more affordable the next generation of ricers/idiot hooligans will ruin it and all of us still here on AZ will have a 5G comment for everyone.

That said I like it, not sure about the longevity in its design, it's not that game changer but directional progress is better than no progress.

It may be bland, but it certainly looks more modern than the RLX. At some angles, the stock wheel fitment looks pretty good.

ITs definitely not bad, not amazing, but not bad. When its sitting in lots next to RLX's and ILX's it'll look even better.

I didn't say otherwise, the point is that acura can be successful with a sedan offering without having to clone a bmw/audi.

flattery will get you no where. make a true successor to the 3g, which, the tlx seems to be imo, but time will tell.

I drive a 3g, which was a big success in this segment and makes for a fantastic daily driver. and...haven't broken a single radiator neck yet!

Curious as to why they added the word "ACURA" back to the trunk after doing away with it on their cars a few years ago. Might be a non-US market thing I suppose.

The only Acura cars that did away with "Acura" on the trunk lid are the ILX and RLX. Maybe it's because they didn't want people to know it was an "Acura" and maybe with the TLX, Acura's finally proud to put their name back on it again?

Haha who knows. They dropped it off the TL I think in 2012 or 13 also. It follows the same trend other luxury makers do...their brand logo being synonymous with the name.

The only thing missing from the show car is side skirts, some chrome on the bumpers along with some nicer wheels.

But to quote you: Haters gotta hate.

And you haven't even driven it yet.

Yup, it is. Those pics are of the Chinese model.

If you take a look at the TLX Concept from the Detroit show, there's no 'ACURA' on the trunk lid.

The main reason is probably spiraling malpractice insurance premiums but your point is well taken.

Oh no, a bland looking car that costs $10k more and has 100hp advantage on the BRZ is also faster! What do I do with my life now.

On a related note, did you know a C7 Corvette would whoop your TSX on the track?

Don't start arguing price points. The BRZ can never win. It is fun to drive, but underpowered. Great car which could have been spectacular.

Wait, you made the comparison (lol, nice reach there buddy) but I can't point out the price difference? Because that extra $10k I save buys a lot of supercharger/turbo for the BRZ.

fanboys: "This car is amazing and I love it!"

pessimistic former/current Acura owners: "It could and should be better."

fanboys: "^lolz, your *insert car name here* is overrated and you're a hater."

so now you're comparing your modified car to a stock car. funny how you were so offended about the thought of putting aftermarket wheels on a tlx.

You think I needed a modded BRZ to get more compliments then an Acura? How thirsty are you for that Kool-Aid?!

Go reread what I wrote about the wheels, you completely missed my point. Also, since you don't know what the point of Acura is, maybe you should look that up as well while you're at it. (hint: they shouldn't be the Japanese Buick! )

no, I think that your criticism of not having to modify a stock acura should be aimed at your 200hp brz.

Acura can't just go half way on something and get away with it like BMW, Lexus, etc. So yes, if they want people to buy the product, outside of guys like yourself and Fib who seem to fall over themselves at anything with an "A" badge on it, they need to put the most effort into their cars from the get go and not wait for consumers to do the work for them. Idk whats so hard to understand about that.

you are more than welcome to GTFO if you want.

This is Car Talk, we talk shit about every car. Some agree with others and most of us never agree, but we get along just fine.

We do not trash everything Honda. I have 3 Honda parked on my driveway now. 3 of my previous/current 5 cars are Honda.

Improvements come from criticism, not from fanboyz.

Yah and they don't understand the fact that we have been pretty accurate for the past 10-15 years on the forum.

While fanboyz drooled over the new jeweled eye RLX, we were saying WTF is this and of course people in car talks are haters again.

ILX - same reaction
4G TL - same result.

So my prediction is if Acura does not fuck up the pricing like they did with RLX, TLX will sell but will it become as successful as 3G? highly unlikely, unless it can sell more than 3G TL + 1G TSX combined.
Will it have the same ability to compete with the industry? let's see what those 2.4L N/A 4 bangers and 20 years old J series can do.

everyone driving an acura today isn't an enthusiast, and success for an acura sedan does not necessarily equate to cloning a bmw. the name 'acura' may not hold the same weight as a 'bmw' or 'audi', but it also doesn't cost as much.
