The sizzle in the Steak
You gotta be smoking some of that Honda Corporate goooood stuff if you think Acura vehicle designs look better than Lexus.

I really like the looks of the new IS F sport.
It is very aggressive, even more so than the F30 M sport. too bad it does not have the powertrain to back it up.

is better looking than
None of those angles work on the Lexus, although boring at least the RLX lines flow.
I was kinda wondering what the Lexus crew was smoking when they did their bicuspid grilz

And do realize that Acura sells like couple dozens of RLX every year with that design?
Yes, "looks" is 100% subjective, but the number do not BS.

Couple dozen?
You did go to school and learn arithmetic?
In terms of sales and numbers, look no further than the Porsche 928 and 911. Many stylist including Giugiaro admired the 928's styling yet never sold well for a host of other reasons.
The RLX has it's problems, but styling (with the exception of the smaller still present beak) is not one of them.

Even the Toyota Avalon looks better then the new TL. That says allot right there.

That is a bad pic of Avalon.
I think Avalon with Acura badge at $50k will sell better than RLX at $50k.
I remember the first time i saw the new Avalon on the road, i thought to myself, shit looks expensive, until i saw it was the Avalon.
RLX.. not so much.

Or it should have been..
Everything's wrong with RLX, but the biggest problem is the exterior styling.

Speaking of "flagships," the actual Lexus flagship looks pretty nice with that giant grille.

I'd recommend one to my parents, or someone that hates driving, but I don't think it looks better than TLX.

Probably should have put that in red, but thought it was an obvious joke. I've been on record as saying the ILX is bland, over-priced and has a shitty powertrain. The RLX is bland, over-priced and the FWD versions don't offer enough differentiation over a Touring Accord.
But we're in the TLX thread. From what I saw at the NAIAS, it's an improvement.
Perhaps if we lived in the land of milk & honey (and droughts, mudslides, firestorms, earthquakes, air pollution and fake boobies), might think differently about my vehicle choices as I sat creeping in 10mph traffic on the 405 next to Moogelino.

Again styling and looks are subjective.
I think most of us here agree the 4G TL is .
However IMO the new TLX is better looking than the Avalon.
My only issue with the TLX styling is the little beak and too much chrome trim (mirrors, windows, lower grill).

In terms of your sedan assessment I agree, ILX and RLX too pricey and a little bland. The TLX's concept/prototype is showing improvement in the styling.

I share your sentiments regarding the look as well. It's not fantastic, but without that beak it is quite attractive.

You know, looking at that bumper, what exactly about it is so fancy that prevented Honda from mass producing it? Its not like theres anything there thats exotic much. They probably could have saved some dollars just by going with this design instead of redesigning a new boring bumper design.

Acura needs much more than "improvements" over their piss poor designs from one gen to the next.
They swing from extremes: Crazy off the wall abhorrent designs to extremely conservative vanilla design.
Acura needs a brand new head of design.
Get a new corporate front end, get rid of the 5 point wedge shaped grille and front end.
Something new, something with presence. It always appears that when they go vanilla (as seems to be the case lately) it looks like designs from 8 years ago.
Honda needs to do something ground shaking with this brand, it's quickly moving to irrelevancy if it stays on this path.
....otherwise consolidate it under the Honda badge, ala Hyundai and their Genesis & Equus.

I said RLX, not TLX. Then again i agree with you that it does not good as TLX Prototype.
We will see when he production version comes out.

Actually, despite much more positive reviews by the automotive press, the 4G GS didn't come anywhere close to the sales of the 3G GS for its model year (the 3G did nearly 33.5k in its 1st year while the 4G only did 22k, and slipped to below 20k last year (the 3G sold over 20k for its 1st 3 years of sale).
The problem with the RL/RLX is being FWD in a segment that traditionally favors RWD.
Having said that, Cadillac has had decent success with the XTS, but they already had a base of buyers of the old school Cadillacs.
An interesting ? will be whether the hybrid will add a substantive amount to RLX sales.
Sales of the hybrid GS (positioned by Toyota as a substitute for a V8) are abysmal (selling about 30-35 a month), but usually hybrid sales for FWD sedans are strong (ES, Avalon, MKZ hybrids).
Anyway, need dynamic but pleasing sheetmetal to really compete against the Germans (not that the Germans have been so great in the design dept. lately), but these designs just handicap sales (but then again, even a ungainly design won't stop sales if all the other boxes are checked - see the previous CR-V which was a top seller).
Still should have lost the beak, but from the looks of it, the TLX is much better done than the RLX.
