^ Don't rush. That is not TL, just a base RLX...

I suspect its a TL, there's an Infiniti G being benchmarked next to it in one of the spy pics. If it was an RLX, I would hope they test it against the Infiniti M.
#6323
Looks just like an RLX to me. The front, headlights, and tail lights all outline what the RLX looks like in the "Future Vehicles" section of Acura.com.

Besides, the 2G G is pretty much going to be out of production at the same time as the KB2. I'd much rather see the RL use the F10 as a benchmark.

How long have they had this TL California edition? 5500 for the package doesnt see worth it.
Essentially getting wheels, an emblem, "sport underbody kit", and door edge film protector...
Also how long has the new TL had black out headlights?
I remember the 07-08TLS had them, but didn't know the 09+ did..

Sounds like a dealer decided to tack on a "special package".
The '12+ have blacked out headlights. The 09-11 had all chrome.

2013 TL Special Edition
Where is the TLX?
New Acura TL Special Edition Debuts with Key Feature Upgrades
Slotted between the TL and TL with Technology Package, the TL Special Edition offers popular added features at a tremendous value
06/07/2013 - TORRANCE, Calif.
The new 2013 Acura TL Special Edition is now on sale with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $37,405. Joining the TL line as a mid-2013 model, the TL Special Edition offers a step up from the standard TL, with the addition of highly desirable feature upgrades, creating an incredible value in the luxury four-door sedan segment.
The front-wheel-drive TL Special Edition features distinctive 10-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels, a color-matched deck lid spoiler and trunk-mounted Special Edition badging. Standard keyless access with pushbutton start adds convenience and ease of use. The TL Special Edition is available in four exterior colors: Bellanova White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Graphite Luster Metallic and Silver Moon Metallic. All exterior colors are matched with a leather-appointed Ebony interior with contrast stitching.
KEYLESS ACCESS SYSTEM
The TL Special Edition's standard Keyless Access System lets the driver enter and drive the car without having to handle a key or fob. The Keyless Access Remote has a unique digital identity that is automatically communicated to the car; the driver simply pulls one of the front door handles while the remote in his/her possession and the door unlocks and opens. When carrying the fob (or if all doors are unlocked), the trunk can be opened by pressing a button located on the TL Special Edition's rear spoiler.
The system identifies which of the two supplied fobs is in use each time the driver's door is opened (even if it is already unlocked), and then automatically sets the driver's seat, steering wheel, outside mirrors, climate control and audio system (including audio system presets) to a profile preset by the driver using that fob.
Once the driver has opened the door and is seated, the Keyless Access System allows the TL to be started with a push of the Engine Start/Stop button positioned on the instrument panel. When leaving the car, a press of the soft-touch button on the outside of the door handle locks all doors. Alternatively, a press of the Lock button on the Keyless Access Remote will also simultaneously lock all doors. The Keyless Access System will not allow the transmitter fob to be locked in the interior or the trunk of the TL.
POWERTRAIN
The front-wheel drive TL Special Edition features an all-aluminum 3.5-liter V-6 with single overhead camshaft cylinder heads and 24 valves, with the intake valves actuated by Acura's VTEC® (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control®) system. This compact and efficient engine produces 280 horsepower and 254 lbs-ft of torque (SAE net). A Sequential SportShift 6-speed automatic transmission operated by a straight-gate style console-mounted shifter is standard. For more spirited driving, a racing-inspired steering wheel paddle shifter system is standard and works when the transmission is in "Drive" or "Sport."
INTERIOR
The 2013 TL Special Edition's interior exemplifies Acura's driver-oriented sport-sedan thinking, matched with outstanding luxury. Sweeping shapes and high-quality materials blend a luxury aesthetic with a feeling of advanced technology. A 10-way adjustable power driver's seat and an 8-way adjustable power front passenger's seat are standard. A power moonroof, 276-watt audio system with eight speakers, and dual-zone, dual-mode automatic climate control system with automatic humidity control are also standard. The 2013 TL Special Edition comes well-equipped with standard technology features including a Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® wireless telephone interface, USB port connectivity, and a high-resolution Multi-Information Display (MID) on the center cluster.
SAFETY
Standard safety equipment on all Acura models includes Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control, ABS, dual-stage/multiple-threshold front airbags, front-side airbags, side curtain airbags for all outboard seating positions, front seatbelts with automatic tensioning system and load limiters, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
The TL recently earned the top-level rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), including a GOOD rating in the IIHS' new small overlap frontal barrier crash test. The new IIHS small overlap frontal barrier crash test is designed to simulate a collision between a vehicle traveling 40 miles per hour and a fixed object, such as a utility pole, where only 25-percent of the vehicle's front structure is engaged by the opposing object. According to a 2009 study by the IIHS, such small overlap crashes accounted for nearly 25-percent of frontal crashes resulting in a serious injury or fatality.
The 2013 TL SE is produced using domestically and globally sourced parts at Honda of America Mfg., Inc., in Marysville , Ohio, recipient of the J.D. Power and Associates' Silver Plant Quality Award in its 2012 Initial Quality Study.

I think it's more like both TL and TSX will be combined into one model called TLX. I'd imagine the car will be sized similar to the current TSX, but with powertrain options like the current TL. Right now, the TL has decent powertrain options but it's too large for most people, especially ones who want a sports sedan. TSX on the other has the right size, but it's too soft and doesn't have SH-AWD to improve handling.

all I can say is I've been seeing the new Accords on the roads and from their design I can say the 5G TL is going to be a stunning looking car and will probably be better received than the 3G TL was!

I'm not too optimistic about what we'll see as the 5G TL. This could conceivably ruin the brand if its anything less than great. Given what the RLX turned out to be (competent but not particularly preferable over the 5 series, E class or even Genesis), I can't help but wonder if the TLX will be anything more than an Accord Touring wrapped in Acura styling.

Lexus IS is practically same wheel base as Lexus GS.
Acura need to built TLX on RLX platform with P-AWS. lighter 4 cylinder engine will make it better handler. I dont mind $40k price for 4cylinder if it is based on RLX platform with all the associated standard features of RLX like noise reducing wheels.
RLX despite being longer wheel base than Accord can pull more Gs, same turning circle and steering has only 2.6 lock to lock turn.

the body and basis of the TL has always been the USDM accord. The 7G accord was the 3G TL and the 8G Accord was pretty much the 4G TL in terms of size and design. It already has LED headlamps, Forward Collision warning, lane cameras and a whole host of other features that are great. Among all of that it actually looks pretty good in my personal opinion and showing that honda/Acura are heading a new and better direction.
#6348
I only mean fully loaded 4 cylinder at $40k.
V6 TLX loaded FWD $45k.
SH-AWD loaded TLX $50k. which is reasonable as Advance TL-SH-AWD is $45k. now add $2.5k for DI engine. I am sure there will be more electronic and upmarket stuff in TLX. so topping $50k is not outside the realm.
#6349
A $40K 4 cylinder Acura TLX will be as successful as the ZDX. If Acura's even thinking about that, they better think again. Acura's track record for sedans lately has been

I can see the TLX 4 cyl at $40k, but that should be the advance trim. A regular TLX 4 cyl should start at $30k ish. It would be stupid if the TLX 4 cyl starts at $40k.

But I can't help but think that it makes more sense to build the TLX with both I4 and V6 options. That's like combining both TL and TSX into one model and you are looking at about 5000 units/month. That would put it just below the ES350 (which btw is doing extremely well with its new design). It would be even better (though not likely) to launch a TLX coupe.

ILX is bland and uncompetitive product with old engine and poor fuel economic
There are so many 4cylinder like BMW 320 and A4 that are close to $40k loaded.
TLX will be more spacious, refined, more fuel economic in 4cylinder. There is market for such car.
.
And it will sell like crap.

Another example is the RLX. It's "more spacious, refined, more fuel economic" than its competitors. Look where RLX sales are

BMW, Audi, et al can get away with those prices because of the badge and prestige. Acura, IMO, has none of that.
There's a market for such a car as the BMW X6. Acura tried to enter that market with the ZDX, thinking they'd get a piece of the sales. Look where the ZDX is now. You give Acura too much credit. Just because there's a market "for such car" doesn't mean Acura will be successful in selling such car.
