PS: I know a lot of reviewers are saying they like bmws turbo 4....but I drove it in the X1....I thought it sucked. Had no balls.

No argument it goes beyond just marketing. The cars themselves are very compelling. Audi has spent a lot of time and money to build themselves up and are now considered on the same footing as BMW and Merc, even though they regularly commit the mortal sin of being FWD based cars.

i hated the 328 for many reasons, but acceleration was not one of them.
It felt just as fast as my 335 up until about 100mph. I took it to Vegas

i had a Loaner X1 and another loaner 328. Same engine, felt totally different. The X1 felt like the turbo was missing, I remember i had to go to BMW website to double check if the X1 had turbo.

A-TSX Oldie
Had the 320 xdrive as a loaner a few months ago. It was surprisingly peppy. Felt a lot more responsive than the E91 328i I had as a loaner before that. Heck, it had more pull than my old TSX. Very underrated car.
I second oonowindoo's comment about the X1 with the Turbo-4. It was alright, but closer to the 320 than the 328.

Let's be honest if Acura showed up with an entry level TL(X) that had an inline 4 (even turbo), FWD and a CVT people would savage them for it, yet that's exactly what Audi has with the A4. Where Audi has done significantly better is marketing, packaging and styling, none of which Acura has really done well over the last 5-6 years. At it's core, SH-AWD was Acura's Quattro that they should have thrown at every model in their showroom like Audi does, but they let that ship sail.
My point this whole rambling though is, with better packaging and styling the TLX can be a very competitive product. It truthfully isn't that long ago that the 1G TSX and 3G TL were selling like crazy because they nailed the styling. Dynamically the 4G TL is actually better than the 3G, it's just falls flat on it's face because of the styling.

Most of the regulars on AZine agree with you. We all know that Acura drives really well. Most of us have gone through 1G TSX and 3G TL. We know how well the cars drove and great of a value they were when they were introduced in the market.
It's just sad that Acura has been shitting bricks for the past 6 years.

Yea I liked the handling if the 2013 SHAWD TL I had as a loaner, just ugly and a fat pig.
If they could lighten/skinny up that bitch by maybe 300-400lbs(?) and better styling I'd consider it!
Ohh and 6MT

Hopefully the difference between the size for TLX and RLX will be in the similar line of 3/5 series and A4/A6, and a little bigger than those overall.
And I think positioning wise, the RLX line should have 3 variants, FWD/SH-AWD/Hybrid SH-AWD. Have no idea why Acura thinks it's a good idea to only have FWD and Hybrid SH-AWD. The pricing differential between the two variants presumably will be huge. Guess we will have clearer picture when the pricing for new RLX Hybrid SH-AWD.
Hopefully, the new TLX will have 2 variants, FWD and SH-AWD. They should introduce SH-AWD one first and market the shit out of it.
Jeez, I'm having too much hope here. Alright, I'm ready to be disappointed.

From the recent manufacture event of the RLX AWD, it seems like the price premium over the FWD model will not be as big as we thought. I think the reality is that, on paper, the AWD model will be like $5-$6k more expensive. However, considering that Acura has been discounting the RLX FWD by so much (i.e. RLX Advance at $52.5k), the REAL price difference is probably more. I guess we will find out.
Acura said there will be two "all-new" powertrains for the TLX. That does not necessarily mean two new engines. It can be two old engines mated to two new transmissions. My guess is a more aggressive version of the K24W (this engine is new for Acura) mated to CVT/6AT/DSG/6MT for the base powertrain. The more powerful one is probably the J35 in the MDX/RLX mated to the new 9AT or 7-DCT. A less likely but ideal scenario is that the base car will get the 2.0 VTEC Turbo engine.
Even though the ILX is disappointing, the RLX suggests that Acura at this moment can make a car that is objectively very good. As such, my main concern is the styling for the TLX. They need to find that magic again when they designed the 3G TL.

Acura press release
2015 Acura TLX Prototype to Debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show
TORRANCE, CA. - 12/19/2013
Newly-named TLX will feature more dynamic and sporty proportions, two new advanced powertrains and a host of signature Acura technologies
TSX to be discontinued as Acura creates clear hierarchy for luxury sedan lineup
Acura today announced that the 2015 Acura TLX Prototype performance luxury sedan will debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. The TLX will mark the debut of a new name for Acura's mid-size modern luxury sedan entry, replacing the outgoing TL model. The all-new model will feature more emotional styling with tidier, sports sedan proportions wrapped around two all-new advanced powertrains that provide even more athletic performance, along with a host of signature Acura technologies. The 2015 TLX Prototype is designed to appeal to current and next-generation luxury sports sedan buyers including existing TL and TSX customers.
In conjunction with the launch of the production TLX in the second half of next year, Acura will discontinue sales of the TSX model in 2014, as it moves to clarify its sedan lineup with a clear hierarchy of three distinct models – the entry luxury ILX, mid-size TLX sports sedan, and flagship RLX performance sedan.
"This all-new Acura TLX is the perfect blend of style and muscle with its elegant, well-proportioned exterior that cloaks the true sport sedan chassis and powertrain beneath," said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president, American Honda Motor, Co., Inc. "The sporty characteristics that customers found appealing in the TSX are even more pronounced in this aggressive new TLX."
The all-new Acura TLX will offer luxury buyers a wider range of choices with two all-new, high-performance and highly fuel-efficient direct-injected engines, each mated to an all-new advanced transmission, along with available two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The TLX will also feature dynamic and emotional exterior styling wrapped around a mid-size luxury sports-sedan package that maintains the roomy cabin space of the current TL.
The TLX Prototype was designed in Acura's Los Angeles Design Studio and the production model is being developed by Acura engineers at the company's Ohio R&D center. It will be produced at the Marysville, Ohio auto plant1, home to the current Acura TL.
Speaking at the Acura press conference at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan. 14, 2014 will be Mike Accavitti, senior vice president, American Honda Motor, Co., Inc.

So we got a elegant, well-proportioned, aggressive, emotional and dynamic exterior.
This thing is gonna be![Ugly](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ugly.gif)
At least they're going back to mid-size instead of the pretty much full size 4GTL

However, the eSH-AWD seems to be superior. Torque vectoring works during full throttle, partial throttle, not on the throttle, or deceleration. Weight distribution is better and the new system would get you better fuel economy. The drawback though, other than being heavier, is that you don't get as much torque sent to the rear wheels.

Yea, I went to a X5 and 4-series test event last month. The 428i sounded like a truck. The 435i is a beast and even in the rain, it handled pretty well (it had x-drive). But man the price is just too high. It's still cheaper than a Porsche Cayman but man the Cayman is not that much more $$ depending on how you option out the two cars....

But then again, nowadays, you can't really find many "reasonably priced" RWD cars (excluding domestics) with a stick that offer 300+ HP
