6G TLX-S
Looks like the aging Honda J-series engine family has reached the dying end of development. Honda has really hit the brick wall in further developing the J-series for more performance.
Historically, MMC update almost always comes with a slight boost in hp. But this time around, Honda can't squeeze out anything more from the 3.7L-V6. Not even a mere 5 more hp !?
But I have to admit that Honda has done a good job fixing the external styling. The MMC TL is much more pleasant to look at now.
Nice work, Honda.

The car is too big. The back of the car is still ugly and the front is way too busy. Why did they have to redesign the TL any way. I think most would agree with me that the 2008 TL looked fine. If only they had given it SH-AWD Leave it to Acura to rewrite the book every 5 years.

I think it's because the parts are different material. The bumper and trim around the grille are composite(plastic) and rest of the body is metal.

looking at iforyou's post #1644 it looks like the "old" J series has best in class fuel economy for 2WD and probably for AWD when those numbers are released (iforyou summarized that the current AWD has a 1MPG drop from FWD). Not bad for a mid 90's motor

Good job Honda. A step in the right direction. Still not a good looking car, but much better then the pre-mmc beak. This one I wouldn't kick out of bed. The '09-11's I wouldn't even buy a drink.

TL (FWD) 17"
TL Tech (FWD) 17" (did we lose the Tech 18" option?)
TL Advance (FWD) 18"
TL AWD 18"
TL Tech AWD 18"
TL Advance AWD 19"
Not listed but mentioned in Conrad's transcript "and not to worry, the 6 speed manual transmission will continue to be offered on the TL SH-AWD model"
Does this mean all of them? Or just the Tech and Advance?

I officially like the 4G TL now. The grille is MUCH better. MUCH MUCH better. More proportional. Less blingy. Less schnozzy. I would not be embarrassed to be found in a TL now.
Great on finally offering the 6AT as well, with pretty decent mileage.
On the whole, I'd prefer that very nice TSX wagon, but I am so glad Acura is listening regarding the TL. I hope they sell more.
Thank you Acura!

4G TL is wider, taller and heavier than 3G and with wider tires.
From Edmunds it say fuel economy will be same for 3.7/3.5. and 3 decibels is alot quieter at highway speeds.
http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...formation.html
A more efficient multi-clutch torque converter that speeds up lock-up will reportedly improve fuel economy with either the base 280-hp 3.5-liter V6 or the 305-hp 3.7-liter V6. In addition, friction reductions on the 3.5-liter (the same ones Honda applied to the 2011 Odyssey, including coated pistons, plateau-honed cylinder bores) further the mpg gains to the point that the car will likely get a 29 mpg highway rating (up 3 from 2011). Both engines get a revised air induction system for better cooling this year.
Inside, the navigation system gets a bigger, 60GB hard drive; more maps; and brighter, crisper graphics: and you get a faster USB port. New features in the Advance package include ventilated seats and a blind spot warning system.
Acura also says the 2012 TL is 3 decibels quieter "at highway speeds," due to improved sound-deadening measures

dont like it reminds me of the current RL and dont like the fog light area at all reminds me of the current MDX..hopefully the 5g looks a little like the 3g and maybe RWD too

2007 had a different rating scale and should not be compared to these cars. Based on the current scale, your car would have been 18/26. And don't forget, you have 258 hp not 280 and your car weighed 3559 not 3699 (2011 car).

I can't wait to see the sales numbers. sometimes it doesn't happen. I remember after the last gen Accord MMC refresh to LEDs, I was really expecting the Accord numbers to go up dramatically. it ended up staying around the same or just slightly better.

Epic epic fail in my opinion, and it is all because of that gawd-awful front end!!! I really don't mind the rear and side views. I don't like how the tires/wheels don't appear set out as far relative to the wheel arches too, as stated.
I've had my eye on that Buick, btw, and the interior is every bit as striking as the outside.
OK, in 4-5 more years, I know which car I'll be in......

ok after looking, maybe i am smoking too much crack, but i do see a tiny bit of similarity but not really ok bye

HUGE improvement especially considering it's just a MMC.
The car looks a good amount smaller, the apparent bloated size was a problem I had with the pre-MMC 4G. It's great to know that they're listening.
Here it is with Acura's ground effects kit

Why would you want bi-xenon anyway? Maybe I don't understand it correctly, but I've read that HIDs don't like being cycled (on/off), and typically I don't keep highbeams on very long, if at all.
I suppose it looks better.

well in my 3G TL and most other cars that have projector headlights, its not actually turning off or on, inside there is a shutter that lifts up and down when you want the highbeams on.
i mean what other luxury cars dont have HIDs for both low and high beam?
well except for the low end Lexus and BMW models which are only halogen for both.

Looks like the 3rd gen just went up in value
I actually like the 4th gen look but felt it lacked a few key design notes in the front. The rear is pretty nice but a slightly subtler look would have appealed to more. It just didn't wow me everytime I saw it like the Type-S with A-Spec kit.
Timeless baby!
