Sure, it's the in thing to bash Honda these days...but, they still have some decent products. I would not mind hooliganing it around town in a Civic Si.
Sure it would if they stuck a bigger motors in them.

Well...coming from owning a "big motor" car now, I think small engines are good too.

There is nothing wrong with those cars for city commuting. If a peep is living in a city, with traffic lights and street driving, they don't really need to be that fast. We are often in the Mazda3 when going to catch a movie downtown, or eating out...

And the ability to save a bit on gas helps too.

I agree with those three cars, however, have you seen the facelift for the 2011 Accord

Doesn't the Civic Si require 91+ octane?

I drove one of the first 2006s in the area. Great little car, but in today's market, I couldn't buy a car with that kind of performance that also needed premium.

Also, I disliked the steering and digital speedometer, but those are subjectives.

I liked the GLI I drove much more. More expensive but far more upscale in feel.

^ Well, clearly, the compact market has some nice selections nowadays. But, I was just pointing out that there are some desirable Honda cars still...

It's easy to hate on them...but, I still think they have quality products in their product line.

And besides, any company that made the Asimo is cool in my books.

Yeah. I actually think the Civic works better as the EX-L with all the bells and whistles than as the Si.

Call me crazy, but that's how I'd buy it!

The "in thing"?!?! Maybe for some, but as for me I call 'em like I see 'em....and Honda is in a downward spiral. Whether it's cool or not to hate on Honda/Acura...I don't really care.

I'm a car guy, not a brand guy.

The Accord coupe?!?!? You haven't seen it lately...methinks.

Civic Si....coupe looking dated..not bad..but still, as always, missing huge amounts of torque.
....and the sedan is horrible.

Fit....the best thing Honda/Acura has going for it.

I like the current Accord Coupe and Civics in general, but in the Honda line I also like the CRV and Odyssey. One of the best styled Honda inside and out is the Civic. The new Pilot and Ridgeline are too bold, the Accord sedan is not as elegant as the coupe. Acura-wise the only vehicle I like from a styling viewpoint is the MDX, although the interior has too many buttons.

I loved everything about my Civic Si. Looks great, has a nice interior with a good nav system, an 8k rpm redline, VTEC-YO!!!, a great LSD, etc. I wish they would drop in a turbo a-la MS3 and it would again be at the top of the segment....

Anyone else watch these CNET reviews? I usually find this guy is honest and never "gushes" over ANY car he reviews but shockingly he has almost nothing bad to say about the TL

CNET seems to focus on the tech and interior more than most reviewers. He did mkae comments about the styling. To me the front grill and rear bumper/trunk look bad but the rest of the 4G TL looks OK.

It does seem like that at times. The spectrum of folks on these forums range from haters to fanboys, but most fall in the middle somewhere. Honda seem to be lost at the moment in terms of styling (too bold, but easy to fix) but also they've lost focus and direction (which is not so easy to fix) in product development.

Very long comparision TL vs S4. TL is on 19inch and is 10 inch longer and 2 inch higher car with 2 inch more width. TSX would have atleast equal S4 even with current engines.

http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...4/engines.html
But on a racetrack, the TL showed us exactly why Acura used the word "super" to describe its Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive system. Despite its significant power advantage, the Audi S4's fastest lap beat the TL's by only 0.4 second.

I'd add the CR-V to that list as well. IMO its a nice little SUV. Sure a V6 would be nice but otherwise there's nothing at all wrong with it. Sales figures seem to back that up.

If the Fit was available with more power (1.8) I'd probably be in one today.

While I agree the Si is a great little car, I just hope Honda decides to move past the 200HP/no TQ mark that they've been stuck at since the late 90's. The competition has clearly moved on, time for the Si to catch up.

And get rid of the bug-eyed headlights on the Accord sedan (can't believe Honda didn't do that with the MMC ) and IMO its the best overall mid size out there.

I read that the other day, they praise the Acura's handling more than the S4's, which is amazing considering the S4 beat out the 335i in C&D.

Pretty much EVERYTHING that's wrong with the TL is the front, the back, and the huge front overhang. As far as performance and reliability I'm sure it's a great car.

^ Thats exactly it. The new TL really is an amazing car if you just look at the reliability, performance (6MT) and the interior. Its just the packaging (aka styling).

As interesting-looking as the new TL is, there are quite a few I see daily around here. So, the car still is selling, apparently...up here at least.

If they can fix the exterior, I think the car's a winner.

Have to agree with you on that one. The best view of the 4G TL is definitely from the side. It really looks slick from that angle!

Except for one or two very minor things on the interior, I really like the interior of the 4G! If they can fix a couple things on the exterior, it will really go to help it and allow more people, such as myself, to get past the grill.

Like turn the motor Longitudinally, make it rwd biased and get RID of the monstrous front overhang, eliminate the beak and make the backend not look like a dog taking a shit. Yes!

I think this is the reason that alot of us were so disappointed with the new TL. It is a great car with a great interior that none of us would ever actually be able to buy because of the styling. Its like we lose out on another great option when deciding which car to buy because it is sooooo friggin ugly....

If it weren't for the exterior design and the increase in size from the 3G to the 4G, I'd probably be driving a 4G right now. Unfortunately, it is just far too large for me so I'm waiting my ordered A4 instead. I think if Acura can go back to sane styling for the 5G and bring out a new V6, a lot of disaffected 3G owners will return.

It seems like the 2011 Odyssey still has a J-Series, so unfortunately it's continuing.

Not good.

Well, the next point for us to see a new engine family comes with the 2012 Ridgeline or the 2013 Accord and 2012 TSX.

We'll most likely see the new V6 in an Acura product before we see it in a Honda product. Im hedging my bets on the next RL.

Very true. I forgot about the RL.

The RL may well be the leader of the new engine family that would trickle down.

It would have been difficult for any car company to top the popularity of the 3rd gen TL given its improvement in so many areas over the 2nd gen. For someone who was able to swallow the styling, the quality of the drive itself is very rewarding for its class and price. If you place a premium on styling, spend an extra $15 gizzle for the S4.

This is why current 3G TL owners are so put off by Acura. We're used to good looking TLs which offer a good bang for the buck. Then comes the 4g with its fright night looks. I know for one, I, didn't really want to spend 15K for aesthetics. It's a travesty what Acura has done. Their arrogance is incomprehensible...thinking that people will buy whatever they produce, no matter what it looks like.
Not me. Acura couldn't give me a 4G TL. I hope Acura is learning from all of this.

I could not trade up to the 4g. The 6MT drives like a much smaller car the steering is a little artificial for my tastes. If you can get over the looks, it is a very appealing package.

In the end I'm happy with my decision and glad I got the G.

^ If the car looked like the 3rd gen i very well might have one in my garage with the SH-AWD for my wife. Looks alone are keeping me off the dealer lot.

If the 4G was to the 3G like the current G is to the last G in styling (fresh take on the same language) with serious performance increases I'd definately have one as well.

That was part of my issue with the 4G, that it doesn't seem like much of an improvement over the 3G. And yet I may buy up the MMC TL if it's properly enhanced (6-speed, more features, etc.).

Me too.

Let's hope that a possibly MMC 4G TL-S will have the look and hp to make me happy, now that the V8 RWD RL is DEAD. I've been waiting forever to trade in my 2G for another Acura product due to the one-time-shitty 2G tranny.
