True- I have been seeing one 6 in the plaza beside my office lately -beautiful looking car- but that is it- before that sighting I was thinking maybe they hadn't been released yet.

I imagine the biggest driver is that potential buyers are sitting in the shadows, watching the wheels fall of the economic bus.

Unfortunately, the 6MT does nothing for its styling.

Updating styling (especially front-end) is an extremely major task. Only gonna happen 1.5 to 2 years from now when the MMC refresh is up. Hopefully, the 3G TL Type-S will come out at the same time.

I'll settle for anything above 350hp, providing that they redo the front end.

Well, I had a TL loaner today after taking the wifey's car in for service. It was FWD Navi -- White on Beige Leather, not my cup of tea colorwise.

BUT, given my first drive in a new TL, was pleasantly surprised at the handling. It felt just as tight in the corners as my TSX on A-spec suspension. The torque steer was noticeable when I mashed the throttle, tire roar was typical Honda, but my opinion on this car improved overall. I no longer get the same gag reflex on the bucktooth front, but the rear is still way too busy IMO.

After this experience, I may have to revisit a TSX V-6 test drive. The TSX while a bit heavier than I care for, is still more my size commuter.

saw a TL without a beak. it wasn't painted over. instead of the beak, the entired grille had a mesh look...kinda like the CTS-V.

are dealers doing this too now? or is this aftermarket?

^aftermarket, but some dealers are show casing their TLs with different grill options such as the mesh you mentioned, RJ, and painted.

yeah they're trying everything they can to sell these cars but sales figures are still pretty low within the segment. I like my huge grill but I'm one of the few who do.

2010 Acura TL A-Spec

Officially Official: Acura releases Canada-only TL A-Spec

by Steven J. Ewing (RSS feed) on May 12th 2010 at 4:59PM

2010 Acura TL A-Spec – Click above to enlarge

Every once in a while, automakers will design special trim levels and packages specifically tailored for our friends to the north. The latest, from Acura, is the A-Spec package available on the 2010 TL sedan, which includes add-ons like 19-inch wheels on special summer tires, an aero kit, dark chrome grille (which somehow manages to make the shield a bit easier on the eyes), rear accents and (of course) A-Spec badges. Underneath the extra glitz is Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system, and a choice of either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

We spoke with Honda's American PR team, and while they assure us that there are no plans to bring the A-Spec to Yankee soil, prospective TL buyers in the States shouldn't be too put off. Glancing through the TL's U.S.-market configuration site, we see that American models can be optioned with all sorts of A-Spec-like accessories, including underbody spoilers, sport grilles and different wheels. It might not have the appropriate badging, but it'll do the trick.

The TL A-Spec can be ordered from Canadian Acura dealers as you read this, retailing from $51,290 CAD. For the full details, hit the jump to read Acura's press release.

Not weird, stupid, this is a N.A. model, not sure how many they sell in China. But more will sell in the US than Canada.

I hate when car makers do this in Europe or Aussie, but split the market in NA

Probably to spur on terrible Canadian TL sales which I'd bet are even worse % wise than they are in the US.

You are correct without a question of doubt, but with the TL already offering the best drivetrain and engine possible, what's an "upgrade" at this point aside from making it stiffer and lower?

Maybe just 10 hp, sport seats, 6-speed auto/man choices, more aggressive rear-biased AWD, adjustable suspension and other things from the Advance package....actually I'm digging this idea. LOL

Problem is, any TL Type-S would probably be in the lower or mid-40s without any options, maybe 44Gs. That's a lot of money and that's now ever closer into 335i and S4 territory, not to mention what Lexus has coming up with the new IS350 or Cadillac with the ATS.

But in truth, they aren't TL competitors to me so I just wasted my own time typing, haha.

I'm still not a fan, but seeing a couple (base and AWD) every day now is making it easier on the eyes... either that or my vision is failing.

I still don't care for it, either. IMO, aside from some styling mishaps, the car just got too big and looks like it belongs in a different class of cars, like for older people. It looks out of place when compared to the 3, A4, etc. It lost the smaller sportier look the 3G had.

3G TLs were just so beautiful in my eyes.. It's just sad that they went this route with 4G TL..
