Well I was thinking more about features like Brembo brakes, TV cameras for rear view mirrors, air jets for windshield wipers. Sometimes I cannot tell if you are being serious or sarcastic. Let's face it, the "hard points" are already done and probably have been done for a long time, long before the auto show.

I too saw the concept TL in person. IMO, it was about the size of the TSX. The TSX's looks are deceiving as well - it's actually bigger than it looks (I don't know if that makes any sense). So if the new TL is only 10% bigger than the concept TL - we're basically looking at a car that's about the same size as the new Accord. That isn't particularly big, IMO.

Anyone priced an after the fact Brembo kit (aka if offered as a FP for the 04TL)?

For a different type of car, disks, pads, calipers, the kit (not installed) goes for $3159.00

NOT small potatoes, won’t find me going for it as a FP option package!

Exactly -- with this one glaring exception. That's what I was saying.

We know basically everything that relates to what fundamental kind of car it is, except whether it will be 185", or 188", or 191", or -- according to some -- more like maybe 194". Those are four very different cars.

Hey Phile, your mind must have been on something else -- your arithmetic is way off.

OK I guess I wasn't clear and after re-reding this post I think I understand what you are getting at.

OK here goes. If the concept car is indeed 2 inches shorter (than the current model) as it has been mentioned, then I will go out on a limb and say that the production car will be the same length or 190. If the concept car was 3 inches shorter than the current TL then the production car will be 3 inches shorter. I'm confident that both the concept car and the production cars will be the same length. This is because the hard points have been set for quite some time.

Thanks, Colin -- helpful. Still speculation, of course -- other people have other impressions, and those other impressions imply very different kinds of cars.

How so? If the concept TL is supposedly 90% accurate - wouldn't the production TL be exactly 10% larger?

90% accurate means there are 10% of the details up in the air. It has nothing to do with relative size of the concept car vs. the final version.

But I was talking about the size of the car - if the size of the car was 90% accurate, the production car is simply 10% larger. Within the context of the sentence, it was pretty obvious what I was referring to. I don't know what the technical fault is.

Hey Phile, I know you're brilliant (I know that for an absolute fact!) -- so you must STILL be thinking of something else!

If it were 10% larger than the concept, which (supposedly) was about 188" or 190" (depending on whose estimate we take), that would make it 188 plus 18.8 or 190 plus 19 -- making a total of 206.8 inches or 209 inches.

In other words, your average Lincoln Town Car.

Not Honda Accord.

But yes indeed, everybody -- I knew that neither Colin nor anybody else really meant this literally. And my point is exactly that: Nothing on here is meant literally, and if it is, they're fooling themselves. Yet, we're TAKING it literally, then hammering it to death -- when there are some very BASIC things that we have very little idea of at all, and which are far more important than these things that we're nitpicking.

O I thought maybe you saw the 2004 TL on the roads in Hawaii on your ride home

Or Maybe you happend to find some secret confidential letter under the cup holder, that the dealer accidentally left..

The letter had all the specs, and pictures, and it was addressed from Honda's President, and it has a treasure map to the location of a test model, hidden away somewhere, and the letter had no key, but a card, because there is no key, and everything is like a keycard

Man I felt so good writing that story

Or maybe you could take the letter and blackmail Honda/Acura and ask them for money, or you could Take the Keycard, and treasure map and find the car, take TONS OF PICS, and everything

and tell us how it drives

ALOHA!

Do you work for Subaru or Nissan...or for that matter Dodge.

Hey, I have some issues with Honda/Acura too, but you are all over the place.

Not to be too harsh, but I think you may need to do some more research. Start with Marketing 101 first.

Now, back to that TL thingy!!!

I was just saying that if the concept TL, roughly the size of the TSX, was 90% accurate, its production vehicle would simply be 10% bigger - roughly the size of the Accord. The comment was more of a generalization rather than an actual calculation, which was why I didn't understand your comment about arithmetic. I thought that, within the context of my comment, it was pretty clear that I was just generalizing. I don't see why you have to find fault with that.

That is the same thing I heard from my birdie because testing was already being done on the production one when the concept was released

The missing 10% was/is probably the Brembo brakes, the 19" wheels, the side-view cameras, the windshield jets and some other crap inside the car that no one has seen.

We now know the side-view cameras and windshield jets are no go.

Fortunately or unfortunately, no one has gotten close enough on their spy shots to determine the wheel size or presence of Brembo brakes.

Mysteries, mysteries, mysteries.

Justin, here is a lighting question.

In the 6 speed cars, will the gear shift knob be illuminated? Answering this question shouldn't get anyone in trouble.

I know one thing, when the dealer princable meeting happens in October just before the release of the 04 TL. I will be in Niagara On The Lake for the week before on all my spare time incase the dealers get a chance to drive the new TL on the road like they did with the tsx in Miami last April. My geuss is that this will be the first time anyone I know personally will be able to drive the car. I cant believe the release will be here in Canada.

Forgive me if I missed it somewhere in this confusing maze of endless posts , but did we ever find out what 1st time feature (not found in any other car, but not really a selling point) the TL is to have? It was talked about well over a month ago on the "other TSX site" by Justin I believe and there were a couple guesses, but no answers. We were promised an answer in coming weeks and I still haven't heard anything.

Based on the way Acura squeezed in 13 cu ft. for the TSX trunk, I'm willing to bet the new TL won't have less than 14 cu. ft. The current TL has 14.3 cu. ft. of trunk space.

It wasn't me. It was some guy from the other site who said he works for Honda HQ in Torrance part-time during the summer. He said he spoke to the VP himself Kidding.

I wouldn't do something like that...if I know about it and its true I will disclose it...simple as that...the public has a right to know.

Don't you guys sleep???

Here's a fact for you the new Tl will only come as a sedan.

Best case, Acura is the third company to implement Bluetooth. I am not sure about the 5.1

All of the other stuff has been used by other manufacturers for at least a year.

Justin, thanks for the shift knob answer.

Great idea. But lets start that new thread when some NEW info is available. To take that a step further, why don't we say that only Justin, Colin or MrJumbo should be allowed to start that new thread since they seem to be the only people that can obtain NEW information.

If the concept is 90% accurate, the production will be 10% bigger - where's the confusion? If the arithmetic doesn't work out, maybe it's because the concept version isn't 90% accurate in size. Sheesh.
