Well as far as ohio I think they are fine. I think its more design then where it is built. Go to the 2G TL section and you arent going to fine any rattle threads. My 2000 with almost a 100k doesnt have any. I think its more design then where its built. In fact 5% of the the 2G TL is built in japan and that part is the tranny. We all know how well those are built.

Another thing is I dont think online forums are good way to see how well built cars are. I mean people on forums tend to complain a lot. I can go over to clublexus or bimmerfest and find a ton of complaints if I wanted. Poeple are quick to complain with ANY car.

And as far as this recall I would rather see a recall then pretend it doesnt exist.

If you think the TSX is bad then dont ever buy a TL.

I disagree. You had a bad experience with an Ohio Made CL, that doesnt speak for the whole Acura lineup.

Do this, go test drive a used RL and see how quiet that is. It will remind you of the legend. Its just no where near as sporty.

Haven't heard too many complaints about 06+ TSX's. They seem to be rock solid. Too bad I was an early adopter.

Post 2009 details leaked...

From Leftlanenews...

As of late, dealer shows are proving to be a valuable source of insider information.

According to a source who attended the meeting, the 2009 Acura TL lineup will consist of two models: a base front-wheel drive car and an up-level all-wheel drive model. The front-driver will be powered by a 280 horsepower 3.5L V6 whereas the AWD model will receive its motivation from a 3.7L V6 producing 300 horsepower.

Despite boasting 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive, the range-topping model will not sport the Type-S nameplate. In fact, the source says that Acura will not offer a Type-S model, at least not in 2009 guise. It remains unclear if the performance model will eventually join the lineup.

Acura has promised us a new TL by the end of the year so a Los Angeles Auto Show reveal seems likely.

I don't know what the excitement is all about ?? Didn't we all suspect the RL drivetrain would eventually make it's way down the model line up...

Bad news for RL sales (not that they were any good anyways)... A 300Hp AWD TL makes the RL kinda redundant... Who's going to want to buy the MMC RL, when a TL will do for less $$...

If the rumors turn out to be true, Acura pretty much killed the RL... You would have thought they would have upgraded the RL before making the TL just as powerful. Who's doing the product planning over there ?? Monkeys ??

I guess the TL is going to be the Flagship car for Acura in 2009

The LA auto show isn't till Novemeber, so I guess the 2009 TL won't be available till 2009 ?? What ever happened to September Model year introductions ???

Yup, the RL is officially dead for two years with this update. This is what I was hoping the MMC TL had 18 months ago.....I wouldn't be in an RL if that had been the case.

The RL is certainly dead....unless Acura manages to fsck up the TL's looks worse than it did the RL's in the MMC . Given the RL fiasco, I wouldn't put it beyond Acura to screw up their bread and butter car.

Luckily for Honda, the Honda side of the equation is running on all pistons. Why couldn't the people who designed the S2K's looks have designed the RL and TL's as well?

In any case, we'll see the new TL soon enough, shan't we?

Yeah! Mebbe Acura is planning to buy Aston Martin and then making the DBS the flagship car and then making the Vantage the new Acura-CL coupe and then the Type S versions would be the RS that is the Vantage right now and then we'll all be so in awe and happy and the world will be in awe too and then everyone will be happy and then no war and no hate and voila...world peace. *breathes*

sorry, but the 300hp SH-AWD isn't surprising to me cause they just took the engine from the MDX and put it in the new TL performance version. why didn't they do that to the new TSX?? they could've just used the 240 SH-AWD and put that in the TSX, but noooo....

also, 300hp SH-AWD will be slower most likely than the TL's competitors, the CTS has 304hp, G35 has 306hp.

Wonder what the torque numbers will be like.

Also wonder if the FWD will be just as fast as the AWD version. After all the AWD adds weight and theres only a 20hp difference?

This is good news but nothing all that exciting since its still underpowered compared to the rest in that segment. Ill bet this AWD version will cost easily $40k. Will still sell well thanks to people trusting Acura as being reliable.

Good job Acura for giving us what we been asking for!

This just makes me even more disappointed that the TSX got screwed on the power side of things. I hope they don't fuck up the TL's looks.

I don't think the bigger engine would increase the weight by too much, considering that the J35 in the TL-S is actually lighter than the J32 in the normal TL. But yea, the AWD would probably add like 200lbs, and also the extra size of the car would add more weight too...hopefully it won't be too heavy like the new CTS...

I'm guess it's a "surprise" to people because after seeing what happened with the facelifted RL and the new TSX, it's surprising for some that Honda/Acura finally is doing the right thing.

Its pretty much guaranteed the TL will look terrible and get some sort of guillotine grill also, its been said that Acura is trying to establish the "power plenum" grill as the face of their brand, like the BMW kidney grill.

I really hope acura's turn around for the tier 1 cars is quick. I see the Rl failing with the new TL, i see the new TL as a flop and the TSX is a flop to most as well. Oh well, they arent on my list of cars to look at any time soon

Meh....this is not really news....FWD / AWD 3.5 or 3.7 V6....really, what else was Honda going to do...perhaps no AWD option.....other than that this is really news.

The only thing that will save the TL will be how it looks. If it has the dreaded Acura grille, combined with a phoned in design crew...it will be another FAIL for Acura.

Message to Acura: PROVE US ALL WRONG!!! SHOW US THAT YOU CAN DESIGN A GOOD PRODUCT!!!

The new TL I know for a fact designwise will look like a cross between the new Accord sedan and the new TSX. It will have that weird TSX/RL like grill, that's a fact since Acura said they would incorporate that grill in all their cars from now on.

When I was getting an oil change at Acura on a Saturday, hardly anyone was looking at Acuras in the showroom. I was literally the only one just curiously looking around. Everyone else was there waiting in the service area for their car to get serviced. Ever since the RSX was canned, the crowds also have all been older people too. Then, I went next door to the Lexus and then Infiniti dealer next to that and lots more people were car window shopping there.

Those were all just some of the things that came up when I went on Google Images and searched for "ugly car"... no shocker the Aztek came up on Page 1.

Turns out the 1st one was called the Aurora Safety Car, and was designed in 1957. The 2nd one is the GM EcoJect concept, designed by Jay Leno. He should stick to (intentional) comedy.

I'm with greenie, we kinda knew they were going to do this. The fact that they keep taking the Type-s away and bringing it back is the stupidest marking campaign in my opinion. They should have it in the works iwth the new design rollout.
