SORRY I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE TL "HPT" OPTION
Absolutely Not. This is a definately a factory package not dealer installed. if you read the letter again, it talks about MOVE. This is Acura's dealer vehicle ordering program/process. BTW, could we have a little less CAPS LOCK? :P

Yup, in sunny Honolulu, Hawaii. We're expecting a high around 88 deg. and partly sunny with strong trade winds 15-20 mph.

Well, I wanna throw out some more speculation. I think I found the tire that will be on the TL HPT option. Check out the newest issue of Acura Style magazine. On page 61 they show a Michelin Sport Cup tire, which seems very sporty/high performance. Could this be the tire for the new TL/HPT? I know it seems too simple, but.....?

I'd love to post a pic, but don't know how to scan the mag and post. Maybe someone can either tell me how or post their image from Acura Style mag.

I'm not counting on the new TL to use the current one's engine. It should have cylinder deactivation and be i-VTEC.

Like in the JDM Inspire? I'd like to see that myself, but am skeptical.

I feel like a drug addict with this site. Maybe we should start a "For Help" forum.

Cool

Mr. Administrator/ Moderator Sir:

Can we shut down this thread and all go to new TL Additional information for ongoing TL discussions. This thread connects slower than new one and I (we?) don't like checking both threads.

Thanks,

Acuman

They both load slower than molasses for me, and I'm on cable! The mod should've copied the initial post from the other thread and placed it here and closed the other thread.

My question is will they offer a type-s? You know the HPT will be rollin on 20's at least....probably 18's on the non HPT model. If there is a size differential in the wheels they made a mistake not offering it in the auto IMO. I'm pickin my TSX up tomorrow and I can't wait to drive it to the dealer to see this bad boy in Oct.

I see no difference (in what you call it) if it comes from the factory, (option or trim level) the end result is the same: We have to order another car because of it.....
I'm very surprised that I have to explain this, because the point seems obvious.
But then again, I've always felt that "It's obvious" isn't much of an explanation, so:

The difference is that "trim level" is kind of like a "sub-badge" within the badge.
Kind of like DX vs. EX vs. LX for Accord, even kind of like TL vs. TL-S for the currrent Acura. Usually there are significant differences in price between trim levels. The net result is: People have "great expectations" of what is represented in a separate "trim level."

None of the above applies for an "option."

I guess I see what you're saying. In the Accord analogy, the EX it the "trim" and the "leather or cloth" choice is the option. Viewed this way, the TL should be an option not a seperate trim level. However, if there is more to the package than just tires, a seperate trim is warranted.

However, in the Acura lineup, things are different. The RSX has a seperate trim level for the option of leather. Following this precident, the seperate trim level for the TL HPT is not that surprising. It might have something to do with how they market the brand as "fully loaded" In other words, if you bought the "base" TL, you would be getting a fully loaded car (since all the models in the lineup are the same).

Well I wouldn't say "all along" I've known this for about 4-5 days. Somewhere in the middle of the Biblically long post above, I mentioned in a very definative way that HPT was High Performance Tires.

I think you're dreaming. HPT will be 18's, not 20's, IMO. Still, this could be the right wheel/tire combination for a TSX upgrade! I wonder how much it will cost, if purchased separately.

It's all good man. I know we all appreciate the info you have given us. Just out of curiosity though, why was this info more secretive than other bits? I know this wasn't any NEW info per se, just confirmation of speculation. I'm just wondering why you were uneasy grossly violating the ND aspect of it.

Pretty simple really, I post with my real name and my store is in my sig. Mr. Jumbo does not have that problem since his identity is safe.

Are you kidding? I know a few Mr. Jumbos at Acura dealers in the Chicago area alone! He's not safe, nobody is safe!

Actually I haven't noticed a correlation between length of thread and how long it takes to load. I expected there would be, and was surprised that there doesn't seem to be.

Maybe it's different on different computers and systems.

Hello-

Not a problem...I edited my post by including a picture. Hope that helps some.

It's grey--but very light. I think it looks nice.

I'm kinda curious as to why we haven't seen any more spy pics yet. It'd be nice to see what the interior looks like!

The quartz will be for the US market and not Canada. It is also available in the US TSX and MDX too if you want to see the color. Do a search for WIZ's pics, he has some great pics of the quartz in his TSX.

at peak times, the forums are just slow period. The thread length has nothing to do with it as long as you are just viewing one page at a time.

Hey Prov,

A post at Temple of VTEC linked to our site for that TL letter, and since you merged the threads that link is now obsolete. It was a thread created off their cover page article "04 TL info (to date)." Perhaps you can post the correct link on there and list what page the letter is shown on. Cheers!

Fixed it up ... http://www.vtec.net/forums/one-messa...item_id=119018

I did this mostly because the original '04 TL thread was out there on several sites and a lot of folks came to that thread to read the latest from us TSX folks

Since this is not a TL forum and we don't have a separate TL section ... I just figured it was best to maintain the "saga thread" approach

I agree VtecMW, if it is only tires, I will skip it, and get my own rubber (will do a better job than Acura in selecting) and keep the all seasons for the winter.!!!

If brembos and suspension tunning, then, I have a hard choice, car or wife?

From what I have read, the Michelin Sport Cup is a street legal racing tire, usually these have a few grooves in them so they are not slicks, but really don't work in the rain.

I think it is highly unlikely Acura will use these in production of any volume car
