That's it: all the shots, that is, didn't photograph the other colors.

I hope this hasn't created a stir between vtec and a-tsx! I enjoy both sites and get great info from both sites. I thought it only fair to post to both today. I kinda feel I owe it to a-tsx and vtec because I'm constantly on both sites. I also must mention acura-tl.com A great site as well!

Lycos, are those full size images or did you reduce them?

I analyzed the background and found 2 interesting things...

Did this smiling Honda executive see you taking the photos? It's probably all a big PR plan going down exactly as planned. I can just see him standing, arms folded and smiling, saying "This is going to sell."

Is this person in the car driving in the background have a camera?! You may not be the only spy...

Again, great work and thanks!!

Wonderful!!!! I just e-mailed my sales consultant the pic and told him to get ready cause this is my next car.

One question, one concern. First question, what are the buttons right next to the steering wheel on the left side. I saw the talk and back buttons.

Concern: Where are the bloody fog lights?

lots of new cars omit the key hole on the passenger side door now. I'm sure there will be one on the driver's side.

Here are my observations and comments:

- Headlight is 2 small for a big car but not ugly

- highbeam double as DRL, like many other cars

- I was disappointed the side channel accent from the concept got carry over to production. Looks cheesy and trying too hard. Will look much better if it's a smooth line.

- C pillar is cool looking but not practical, creating a big blind spot.

- The rear quarter design is where this car really shines.

- The "ACURA" imprint on the front bumper must go. What is this, a Pontiac? Is Acura so insecured that they must put their name up front? Isn't a logo enough? I found this very puzzling.

- Interior is the usual fair from Acura.... better than infiniti but still behind Lexus

- Glad they carry over the 3 pod dash. But it looks almost they just put a 3 pod dash cover over an Accord dash

- You can see the design is shared with Accord/TSX. Dash lay out is almost a carbon copy. Just variation on a theme. And of the 3, I believe the TL got the worst center stack design. It's too clutters and looks chopped. Not fluid or graceful like the last TL.

- Guages's color is cool but I really hope Acura standardize on 1 color. TSX's white, RSX is red and now TL is blue. They must put orange in the new RL to complete the color of the rainbow.

- Looks like the mobile phone connector made it to this car as well.

- Wheels looks racy. I like them. Gap is low which is good. And the fender flare is a good size, make the car quite agressive.

Acura took some risk and made a great car IMO. While I find the 03 model is more graceful and luxury like, this one is definitely sportier.

Thanks to Lycos for the great pics. I think we can officially rename this site to Acura-TSX-TL.com or Acura-TnT.com since I think there'll be much more TL talks to come.

Ok, back to the speculation. What are we guessing on the 6sp HPT model besides tires. I'm hoping something spectacular to deviate from the base TL. I'm dreaming, I know. I've had my fix now of these pics, on to the HPT. :

I like it, but I'm not as excited now. I guess the hunt was more fun than the kill. :

Great job Lycos!!!

You are right, DRL are usually on the inside.

BTW, who want to bet how long it would take for someone the rice this TL up with a Type-S badge on the trunk?

That sounds like a confirmation.

Thank you. I guess I can go to sleep tonight knowing the HPT will have 18's.

Has anyone noticed the hood shut lines? they start at the inside edge of the headlights and head backwards across the hood towards the a pillar. Very unusual! You can see from the fenders that there does not appear to be a shut line in the usual place.

They are the controls for the voice activated functions.

The fog/driving lights will probably be a dealer installed accessory.

Has anyone been able to determine if there is a back-up camera?

Also, it does not look like it has parking assist.

That imprint could be purely for marketing purposes. Most bumpers will have a license plate covering it. I'd be suprised to see this on the bumper of a production model. Who knows.

Very interesting observation. I'd like to get a closer look at the hood to see what's going on there. When I was searching for the line you were talking about, I was thinking "Wow, that is some serious fit and finish. There are no lines". I see what you're talking about though.

Anyone have thoughts on what that circle is on the right side of the front bumper?

The TOV board is saying the car will be advertised at 270 HP with the real HP rating (i.e. extrapolated from the dyno) would be around 280 HP. Those are great numbers by any standard, but does that sound a little underwhelming to considering TL-S has 260 already?

Also, great pics and good sleuthing.

NOW I NEED INFO - STATS - ANYTHING.

What is the HP?
Is it AWD?
Are those steering mounted wheel shifter buttons?

etc. etc.

And how much do you think you can get on a TSX trade-in. It's only a few months old.:P

I don't think the buttons on the steering wheel are shifter buttons. Would a car with a auto/manual shift function have the up and downshift controls on both the steering wheen and the shifter gate? Don't know about that one (see the photos of the interior at the shifter....I think I see the + - shifter pattern in the shifter gate). That means those small button on the steering wheel must be for something else.

Opinions?

"It's probably all a big PR plan going down exactly as planned. "

I'm not complaining but I believe its all been staged, who in their right mind leaves a test car with it running. With lights on and both side windows open, Im guessing that the guy that took the pic's is the driver.

American Honda's idea of a focus group. ....

Hello-

That interior is beautiful! COMPLETELY GORGEOUS! It looks like Acura has put TONS of features into this new TL. Do you see that button rich interior? It looks GREAT! I don't care if ergonomics go south, because this looks like a true luxury automobile. The exterior is gorgeous, too...very understated, yet very aggressive. Audi better watch out, because Acura is right on their tail.

CONGRATULATIONS Lycos! I'm ECSTATIC that you got pictures--I just can't believe you were able to walk right up to the car and snap a few photos! SIMPLY AMAZING!

SWEET PHOTOS--SWEET CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, anyone notice the truely multi-functional steering wheel? I hate to get anyone's hopes up, but looks like the new TL has adaptive cruise control--notice the "add on" controls on the left side between the spokes...can someone enhance that area and see what the pictographs are?

Something tells me those controls are for the Bluetooth functions. Just a hunch. You have to put the buttons somewhere if your car has Bluetooth capabilities.

wow wow wow wow!

I love it. I want one. It fits what I want, FINALLY!

IT KILLS THE G35, and anything else that I can think if that it will compete with.

I love the roof pillars. They are so smooth looking. Like where it goes from the hood to the roof.

Sweet styling.

When will they be out @ dealerships? anyone know?

They're for the Bluetooth controls to the best of my knowledge. You have to put them somewhere on the wheel, and we can identify what the other ones do, being that they've got the others in the TSX.

active cruise control has been confirmed for some time now

Lycos = AHM employee, "coincidentally" spies new TL on road, posts pics, gathers feedback from enthusiast group before full production to make last minute tweaks. But I really don't think this is the case, Lycos seems geniune, although that test car was definitely not being hidden.

Hello-

Does anyone else think that the interior trim looks like real aluminum? I know you won't be able to know for sure until it's released to the public...but it doesn't really look like plastic from the pics...

For those that have been commenting on the headlights being too small, all I have to say is get used to it. It seems to be the latest automotive trend. Big headlights were the trend to follow for cars in the 90's and now it seems small headlights are the latest trend (ie. TSX, Infiniti FX 35/45, Mazda 6 & RX-8, Lexus HPX concept, Saturn SUV)
