I wish they would offer the HPT (dynamic package) with the auto, it would save my marriage - Acura, if you are listening, please reconsider.
I guess I may have to go manual against the better half's wishes, vs give up those brembo's

Did it say that the TL Dynamic Pkge was a Manual tranny only option???
That has been the million dollar question on this site ever since AWD was no longer an option - Awaiting your information

nh-603p - thanks for the info, sounds like they are still showing the concept car photos, you are right, in the concept car it was clear that the turn indicator in the head light assembly was a stick of light, many makers are using neon tubes (bmw in the 5, the dodge magnum, etc as the turn indicators, would be cool if it makes it to production.
The concept car had close ups of the headlight assembly and the wheel/tire - it too shows a goodyear tire - those are available at acuranews.com - site has been posted before, let me know if you need it to compare.
Lets hope the pictures you saw were really the produciton car, and not the concept at the NY autoshow

I now think that HPT is indeed just a performance summer tire package, although, I also think that the 6MT will come with a stiffer suspension and probably brembos vs. the auto.

so when do we think a VTM-4 AWD system for the new TL will be coming out? Justin indicated that it would be in the near future...could that be 6 months? A year? Two years?

Thanks nh-603p for the Canadian colour charts!! Based on the Canadian chart, I'm guessing Desert Mist and maybe the blue and red won't be available model wide in the US and auto only?????
P.S. It is about time the MDX gets pearl white.

Great news! So I would guess that if you were to get the Dynamic package that would also include the Navi system?
IS the Dynamic Pack actually the HPT option?
It's to bad we cant get the HPT option with the Automatic that kind of stinks as I would like to have both.....also is the 5-Speed Auto a do-it-yourself shift like in the currant TL? Thanks and I cant wait to see some Picts

Especially since Acura/Honda can see from these boards that a lot if not most of the enthusiast types are conscientious objectors about Nav.

Since they are showing the (concept) RL at the Tokyo auto show this fall, we won't see the car till next spring/summer??? So, I bet the TL AWD will occur kind of like the Type S of the current model as a mid-model reskin/touch up just to keep sales strong.

This forum is really interesting :-)
Has anybody noticed that the VOLVO C70 comes in 2 trims now
1) LPT (Low Pressure Turbo)
2) HPT (High Pressure Turbo)
Not sure if ACURA is planning a TURBO but it will be cool if they do !!!

Look for this to be good for another 20 pages of speculation.
Seems doubtful, but I'd put more money on Turbo than on "T for tire."

i think HPT is just something that acura knew would leak out and would attract attention because everyone is guessing what it stands for, etc. I bet it isn't even called HPT when the car comes out

HPT = High Pressure Turbo
I guessed that on like page 5 of this same forum and got shot down by justinjsw, but who knows he was insisting that HPT was VTM-4wd back then.
from Page 5:
HPT???
Not that this is typical Honda but is it possible that HPT = High Pressure Turbo???
You seem to be eluding to it with your comments about not worrying about HP/Torque?

I just wanted to chime in and say that Honda has never used a turbo-charged engine, be it low pressure (ala VW/Audi) or high pressure (ala Volvo/Saab) that I am aware of. That combined with the fact that a "high pressured turbo" would cause massive torque steer in a FWD vehicle lead me to believe HPT in no way stands for High Pressured Turbo on the new TL.
If Honda/Acura ever decided to install a turbo on one of their vehicles, it would be on something like the S2000 or NSX. A sports car w/ RWD that could handle the power. Even so, I don't see that happening anytime soon. Turbos put a lot of stress on engines and Honda is not willing to compromise on the long term reliability of its engines.

jwaters, honda does employee a turbo engine in their top-of-the-line personal water craft.
that said, there's no way there's going to be a turbo in the new TL, or any other honda car until they can perfect the reliability. Also as jwaters mentioned, any turbo would debut on one of their high-end performance cars.

The TL Dynamic Package is ONLY on the manual and will feature a far sportier suspension then the Automatic. Expect 2 totally different cars. The TL Dynamic is almost like a TL-Type S in comparison to the auto.

I'm confused now. Does the dynamic package = HPT, but called differently in Canada? Or is the dynamic package something that comes standard on the 6sp and includes the stiffer suspension, etc. vs. the auto?
