Acura: TLX News
#5001
I will make the final judgement when I see the TL in real life, however, after many observation of the pictures, I am starting to like the look of the new TL. Just as I suspected, It has already began to grow on me, just like many other cars out there. Example being G35. I did not like the G35 design initially, however, I have grown to like its design over time.
In my opinion, the new TL front and back looks sophisticated, modern, clean and aggresive.
Is there anyone that agrees with me?
I am considering to buy a new car next year, and the choice is getting harder, its either going to be
Chevy Camaro
Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Acura TL
Cadillac CTS sedan or coupe

Acura Canada announces pricing for all-new TL sedan
Toronto, Ontario - Acura has announced the all-new, fourth-generation 2009 TL, which will be available in two models, with a choice of two engines and the TL’s first-ever application of Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), has an MSRP starting at $39,990 for the front-wheel drive model and $44,490 for the all-wheel drive.
The new TL is larger, with optimized suspension, more powerful powertrain and new Sequential SportShift transmission. The standard engine is a 3.5-litre V6 with 280 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque in the front-wheel drive model; this new and more powerful engine returns fuel economy ratings of 11.6 L/100 km in the city and 7.5 L/100 km on the highway.
The TL SH-AWD uses an all-new 3.7-litre V6 that produces 305 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, with ratings of 12.3 in the city and 8.1 on the highway.
The SH-AWD system distributes more torque to the outside rear wheel during spirited cornering to create a “yaw moment” to help the vehicle turn in more quickly and precisely, while also continuously apportioning drivetrain torque front to rear, and left to right.
Prices for the new models are $39,990 for the TL; $43,490 for TL Technology Package; $44,490 for the TL SH-AWD; and $47,990 for the TL SH-AWD Technology Package.

Much less than the 3rd gen. 08's were $42,700, Navi was $45,800 and Type-S with Nav was $46,500.

I'm shocked! Acura Canada actually *listening* to the consumer! Guess all the cars imported over from the US is hurting the dealership network where it counts most -- their pocketbook. And corporate is finally doing something about it.
I'm still tempted to buy an overstock 2008 TL base for a shade under US$30k than try to justify the cost of a 2009 TL . Then again ... I bet I could score a 2008 Lexus ES350 (my dad is a brand whore) for invoice or even slightly below invoice from a Michigan dealer (where the economy is far worse than Ontario!)

Perhaps Honda/Acura will have the last laugh afterall...

The new TL apparently put the whoop down on several key competitors in this admittedly unscientific comparison. THe Acura was over two seconds a lap faster than any of the other cars (including an S4, 335i, and G35S). Still not a looker but definitely a runner....
**EDIT - It doesn't seem as though you can link to an Edmunds article directly so just copy and paste this link into your browser.

Well we have a couple TL's in the shop getting wheels put on today and one has a painted grill. Note this is not my car it belongs to a dealer. I just wanted to post because I thought some of you would be interested in what this may look like. I think it makes the front look a lot more attractive. I will get some full body shots when the car is done. Enjoy

I look at the 3G TL then I come in here and see the 4G. I know I'm beating a dead horse but it still doesn't ''click'' in my head.
We won't see another fine TL like the 3G for a long time.

99 TL, 06 E350
One thing about that giant front bumper. It going to collect ALOT of road debris and bugs. It won't look that clean the minute you start driving it.

The sizzle in the Steak
Is the painted beak better? A little...but it's still a horrible mess of a front end.

I saw the real one today. It was parked, and it looked REAL NICE!!!
It looked very aggresive, and modern. The huge grill acutally gave aggresive look in the front, and the back of the car looked nicely sculpted.
This further confirms my belief that you need to look the car in real life, before deciding on impulsively based on just pictures. Which most of you guys did.
Lol, I bet couple of months later, you guys are going to change and say how this car grew on you and looks good....lol.,.losers..

No matter how much it grows on me, I strongly doubt I will ever actually like it, and one thing's still for sure: this car could have easily been SO much better looking.

The grille on the TSX didn't bother me as much as the TL in the first place, but painted it looks 100x better. I might have to think about that if I end up getting one. V6 sounds good as well, although I was more interested in the diesel for FE.

Dropped off the CL at the dealership today to get servicing and finally saw the new TL an its shield-like grille for the first time...
You know, the car's not as bad in person. It's definitely not photogenic...but, really, it's not that bad in person.

Saw one at the grocery store on Saturday. Sure enough the owner of the local Acura dealer was driving it. Didn't look any better in person that it does in pics IMO. Looks very un proportioned. And those base 17's 17's have no business on a car this big.
About 5 minutes later I saw an new black RL with a fully painted grille

I was making a right and it was coming towards me from my left. For a second I had no idea what it was, so I guess the grille doesn't serve its purpose when its painted. It didn't look bad. But this was the first 09 RL I've seen in the flesh so I don't have much to compare to.

I haven't seen a new TL or RL yet either. There are quite a few 05-08 RLs around, though.
It seems my dealer has only sold one TL since it's been out. I've checked their inventory several times and nothing is moving except TSXs and MDXs once in a while.

that after-market bumper really helps the TSX, IMO. It doesn't even look like one of those after-market bumpers, it looks more like the way the TSX should have looked stock. Why couldn't Acura have figured that out??
