The 9ZF didn't go 'bad' until 500 miles or so down the road. Whenever I had the transmission re-learned by the service department it was better for about 500 miles then the same lagging shifting happened. So assuming the review cars they had were low mileage they might not have been acting squirrely yet.
- Loaded current firmware on transmission controller/computer ?
- Keeping fluid changed if it looked dirty? IIRC, there is also a filter that most ignore. I would think it should also be changed (along with all fluid) with problems like this.

Interesting. Do you remember if they:

Eventually I installed a VCM muzzler and that gave me more improvement than anything Acura did for me. I still have the car. Other than the transmission it works well for me. And now with the VCM muzzler it is peppier. It is paid for, I have 35K miles on a 5 year old car. I haven't driven it much since the pandemic. So I'm in no hurry to replace it. I will probably replace it in 2 years. Will that be a TLX? RDX? Acura? I have no idea.

Null and proud of it
I'd have to go back and look up the records on my car. I have a later build 2015 after Acura claimed there some was some fix in the transmission from the early 2015 cars. There might have been, I never had the hard shifts that early 2015 cars had, but they also updated the transmission again in 2016 so my car is in a sort of grey area. Not old enough to qualify for a replacement, but not new enough to be the fully fixed version. I recall they flushed the transmission once and did the relearn procedure. It drove much better... for about 500 miles then it felt like it did before. I took it back they did the relearn again. Again it drove better but after 500 miles it was back to normal. It was the learning feature that was making it worse. When I took it back again they told me they couldn't do anything else other than the relearn. Which didn't really offer any permanent improvement.

Sounds like you have a good car there.

2. Never heard of it, thanks. I would have tried one on the MDX.
3. This all started back in May-2020 for me. I kinda regret not just buying the TLX then and I could be enjoying it now, but I got caught-up in this car. I would still buy a clean 2020 TLX V6 SH-AWD Advance White/Parchment (with less than 10,000 miles) for $30,000 if it could be had. My dealer has some 2020 TLX service-loaners for sale (selling as used with low miles) , but they are lame configs and still priced too high.
Still say it's a sweet car:

I think Acura knew about the transmission shifting issue before the car went on sale. I was planning to buy one, and recall that the on sale date was delayed for several months due to transmission issues. I do not recall ever seeing if Honda described the exact transmission issues, but I suspect it was the shirting issue.

With how chiseled the body is, the wheel looks so out of place. It looks like it was inspired by the 15" hubcaps on the base 9th gen Civic.

The 2020 TLX had such nice alloy wheels (and they were free/included) ... just like any Acura ever.

The current A-Spec wheels are orders of magnitude better looking than these. Probably the best (non-NSX) wheels since the 3G waffle wheels.

^ "The TLX is known for its legacy as a performance luxury sedan" ... really? They really use the term performance like a chef putting salt on everything. Too much and it's not good.

So were you expecting truth in advertising? I doubt a dealer would truthfully state that the TLX is known for its crappy transmissions and vibrations at higher speeds.

2. Yes, it's very nice (on the console and doors also) ... Gypsy talks all about "the wow factor" in the official video. What they fail to mention is that only comes in the Advance. You have to watch for Interior shots of A-Spec trim to see what the rest of us get (like in Tech package for $45k). Same goes for wheels, seats, and other items. Sure, NOW we finally have spec-sheets (but even then, you have to read very closely).

1. And that video is a remix someone uploaded, so not on Acura ... I just don't like how we keep seeing flashes of Type-S, and then really talk or show TLX-2.0T. People might get the wrong idea.

FYI, looks like Canada has the 2021 TLX in the model lineup on their website. Nothing on U.S. site yet but shouldn't be long now.

Seems they're mirroring Audi's starting prices (46-53k, no options). Fully loaded A4 with all options is 62k plus 2k for shipping. TLX is still competitive but options are not one-one though.

The A-SPEC looks awesome but $60K. Same price as the A-SPEC RDX.

"Get ready to conquer every corner. The TLX comes standard with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™* (SH-AWD®), the racing-inspired, torque-vectoring technology which takes handling to a higher level, with more stability and precision through all corners and conditions" This is an awesome news! Well done Acura.

It's funny, a lot of people in the general public don't even know that some Audis can come with FWD. From a practical perspective, almost every Audi on the road does come with Quattro, and they've turned that into their differentiator against Mercedes/BMW, to the point where most people perceive Quattro to be superior to 4Matic and xDrive. I would love to see Acura do the same thing with SH-AWD since it really is one of the best AWD systems on the market.

So, it's not an extra $2,000 now ?
Interesting that yall can already build a 2021 TLX online and here in the USA we can't.

We have some bugs, so it's not perfect website yet. But yes, we are ahead of you guys. Where are the reviews???????????????? Acura is sleeping lol!

Well, the $2K is already built into the price; it's not like they're throwing it in for free. They just removed the FWD that would have been $2000 cheaper. It's priced the same as an RDX with SH-AWD, isn't it?
#233
Instructor
More or less, yes the same price. Canadian RDXs all have SH-AWD as well, no FWD option available here.

I called my dealer to ask about the new TLX and he said today they have received over 200 calls in the last 2-3 hours, people asking about the arrival of the TLX
He was a happy man....he was hoping these calls turn to customers!

I told my dealer they should just run the 1-minute drone commercial and simply add their dealer name & number silently at the very end.
People will call or drop-by for sure.
At the very least, they will go to the Acura website to find a dealer by zip-code.

Put it another way, he's either lying or exaggerating.

I can assure you he's blowing smoke. I worked for Acura and I know their operation. Every dealership is hungry for sales across the entire board (Service, parts, used and new cars).
