My wife's 2012 Toyota Camry has a fake leather dash with stitching, and ultrasuede inserts on the seats like the new A-Spec TLX. I do not think those items make the car look premium.
Plastic injection molded dashboards look even cheaper. I'd take fake leather with fake stitching over the plastic/rubber stuff any day of the week (1G TLX, I'm looking at you).
We are a very small group here and we cannot represent the whole population. But most of us want reviews. Today we are all connected to our phones and even if we are buying a $100 router, we watch and read reviews.
How can Acura expect people to pay $50K for a car without a single review or feedback from some of the reliable and well known journalists. Sure, if I am buying a car for $50K, I will drive it, test it and compare it. But still, it's always good to hear a 3rd person's opinion. i am confused with Acura's strategy.

“Hey everyone!
We are in Detroit for the first wave of media for the 2021 TLX Press Drive Event.
We have Advance and A-Spec trims on hand for the media to test drive.
The cherry on the top is the TLX Type S, which is only on display (no driving just yet 😉.
You’ll see articles and driving impressions at the end of next week.
Enjoy!

End of next week? Seriously? That's right before they come out. Honestly my expectations are low (for what I like) given what happened to the RDX. But I'm different. Other people like a sporty feel (regardless of actual performance) and nice looking materials (regardless of actual build quality), so it will sell. Although no one likes road noise, so hope they didn't go cheap there like they did the RDX.
It’s sad that Acura didn’t invite Alex and Sofyan. Both confirmed that the reviews will be out sometime next month. Either they didn’t want to share with us due to the embargo or Acura excluded them. Not fair if that’s the case.
Not sure why it's not fair for them to be excluded. Given COVID, they probably wanted to limit the number of attendees, and like it or not the Youtube reviewers don't have the same pull or impact as the big boys. Getting a good review in Motortrend or Car and Driver is likely much more important, heck even the Forbes and KBB reviews probably have a better ROI. Like it or not, if you want to stay in the big boys' good graces, you have to feed their big mouths first before you can give the scraps to the little guys. The risk of one of the YT reviewers leaking something early is also substantially higher than for an outfit like MT or C&D, because the latter has a lot more money for them to go after if they violate the NDA.

Fair enough. You’re right. But when they did the RDX review, they invited them. But as you have mentioned due to the covid and limited number of guests. They probably excluded Alex, Sofyan and few others. They just invited the big corporations.

Alex definitely has a good following. He can explain sh-awd better than most reviewers. I hope Acura is inviting reviewers in batches and these guys are in next batch.

I suspect they'll send the cars out to them rather than invite them to an event. These types of invited events serve to provide media access to these cars in a controlled (and somewhat limited) environment. They don't get the opportunity to take them back to their test track to do a whole bevy of controlled tests and runs. My guess is that Acura knows this car will drive and feel better than the numbers would suggest (this is what also happened to the RDX), so they want the First Drive and Initial Impression narratives to be about how great the car drives and how Acura has re-found the magic, and have the relatively underwhelming numbers come out later once the spotlight has lifted a bit.

I think the first batch is some top guys and well established journalists. As fiatlux has mentioned.
Acura will probably provide Alex and similar journalists a vehicle for 2-3 days to test. So you’re right, it wlll be done in 2 batches.
The first batch is most likely going to be the reviewers that got to have a "First Look" a couple months ago. This includes Kelly Blue Book, MotorTrend, Motor1, and Edmunds. I expect these reviewers to have a video out next week.

AoA and SavageGeese are two of fav YouTube reviewers, both are fairly objective and honest.

SavageGeese is the best and very technical. AoA is great for comparison and give you an overall perspective of the car. i like Sofyan as well. i know some don't like him but he is a cool reviewer.
I like Sofyan a lot. I know some say he's too positive, but during the video he will be critical. It's just during his wrap up that he'll always say something nice, sort of a "every car is right for someone" approach.

He is the master of the compliment sandwich. I understand why he has to do it, they all do it, and he's not even the worst offender...I just wish he could somehow let a bit more of how he truly feels about the car come out, a la Mr SavageGeese.

I find he ends up doing that a little in videos for other cars. Lets say he reviews the X3 and he does his usual approach, in 4 months he might be reviewing the XC60 and be like oh the BMW powertrain I did not like at all...like a review puzzle.

He does give his opinion towards the end. But I find he is a very positive person. AoA is the same, usually he is very positive and doesn't really say much about a car that isn't great!
Yeah actually I find AoA to be more positive than Sofyan. Sofyan is not shy about scratching all the hard touch plastic on a car's interior and complaining about it.
I know that it can be hard to gauge via pics but I am confused about the proportions of this thing! The front is definitely bigger and longer but the front and rear doors look a little squished and in just about every pic that I have seen the driver's seat has to be past the B pillar for room and visibility. I experienced something similar when I first sat in the Genesis G70 and the Lexus IS can be like this also (but granted they are smaller cars). Just odd to me that you would make a car bigger but actually make it less comfortable by the looks of it. It will be interesting to see what it's like in person.

The car is not small, it makes my 3G look like a Civic lol
This photo from Acura Connection kinda debunks the claim that the 2021 is just a soft makeover of the 2020.
How ? They don't look that drastically different. Post the same color like that and the differences are hardly noticeable other than the longer hood which is fine since Audi A4's have looked the same for the past 8 years .
John from the facebook group who is updating us in the last 2 days confirmed that reviews will be out next Thursday. about 5 days before it hits the dealer!!!

+1 , I like when they lift up the car to look at the various components under the chassis for technical features.
He slightly ripped the C8 at the track for being too much understeer that he was faster in a C7GS at the same track, same day.

Many “true” sports cars are small and uncomfortable. Maybe the folks who are complaining the new TLX is not sporty enough will be happy if the inside in small and uncomfortable.
