Once the clutch comes in, Wednesday or thursday I can get some pics showing the bad boy bolted up. I can't wait to see it all together, seeing the engine out of the car was alittle scary, but I did the timming belt and the clutch in addition to the turbo install, so it was needed.

Well that makes the install easy.. lol. I guess with the new clutch and all, dropping the subframe is the best way to go. Props on that clean engine. Keep us updated as everything comes together and your tales of the tune.

The front manifold is pictured with the turbo attached on the floor and the engine is shown with the back side of the turbo manifold cross over. In another pic the cross over piece can be seen the connects the front and back to the turbo.

I'm really excited to see this one happen. I only wish you had track times from when it was supercharged to see just how badly the turbo destroys the supercharged version.

Very nice! I had no idea someone had actually gone to the strip. Now you have something to beat and I think you will by at least half a second if not a full second with some practice and good tires.

What are you Cali/NJ guys going to do when it come to inspection time?

Does anyone know for certain if I were to remove everything except for the injectors, would the ECU in it's stock form work ok with the RDX injectors? The fact that the connectors have to be changed is the only thing I can see that could be a pain.

Also, where are you getting the o2 extensions for the bottom sensors?

I think the Fic should be able to keep everything running correctly. I will be going back to stock for inspection and hide the gauges.

Injector connectors are easy to swap. U need the tc injector connectors. On the 2nd gen tl/cl u need to swap the orings over the the rdx injector along with shaving off some plastic. Its easy but time consuming

Ok, do I spray meth before or after the intercooler to get the best effect. I am going to tune without it at first and retune once I am all set up. I am also still going back and forth on oil and air intake temp gauges. I bought the gauges but, the colum is getting crowded.

What's the car down time on your turbo install? I will probably have to go down to SJ as well for the install. Just want to be prepared.

Im going to say that you should be spraying meth on the intake pipe maybe 18 inches or so from the throttle body. Anyone agree?

Never inject the water/methane before the intercooler. Most people inject at approx 6 inches before the throttle body.

See link below for explanation -

After 6-18" from the TB. I angle mine backwards into the flow of air.

Before the IC can cause whatever meth doesn't flash off to drop out in the intercooler.

The main reason for injecting it after the intercooler is you figure if it's 100% efficient it's going to cool the intake charge to whatever the outside temp is. Of course, they're never 100% efficient. The meth will take it down a few more notches and you can end up with air that's below ambient. I've seen less than 60 degree air hitting the throttlebody on an 85 degree day at 28psi.

^^ Do you guys keep an eye on intake air temp? What about oil temp? I may do some gauges in the glovebox to reduce clutter

No need to monitor for safety but its fun when changing turbos, intercoolers' turning up the boost, or tuning the meth to see the changes.

Oil temp is a very good idea if you plan on running it hard for extended periods. For short blasts its not absolutely necessary. Either way run a good 30wt because it will be a 20wt after the turbo gets done with it.

I am running 10-30 redline. Where is the best place to plumb the air temp sensor.

on the Redline.

IAT sensor can go anywhere after the methanol. The factory has it right after the throttlebody in the intake manifold. It's too bad there are not small scanners that tap into the factory info and give you a readout on the dash like many cars have.

Probably the easiest place to do it aftermarket is to put it in the silicone coupler at the throttlebody. Since the TL runs fairly low boost you shouldn't have any problems with it leaking or blowing out. However, loctite EVERYTHING that can possibly come loose and get into the engine.

Summit also sells bungs with all the common sensor and plug sizes that are made to be welded into tubing and the sensor will screw into that. They're under $10 and a good welder will likely charge you $20 to weld it.

Like I said it's more for your own info but it's really neat to see how different things affect intake temps. It's really neat to get into the throttle slowly and see temps rise past 120 degrees and then the meth kicks in and the guage falls 60+ degrees. Or as you go into the mountains and get to the higher elevations you'll see the intake temps rising at the same boost level. If the air filter starts getting too restrictive you'll see temps rising too.

Our IAT is M12X1.5 and no summit does not have a bung that size, I just end up making them from 6061 aluminum rod. Also although not quite as refined as others there is ScanGauge which gives you a ODBii tap and sensor data display.

Scanguage would be better than nothing although it would be nice to have a performance based platform. I would be really surprised if Summit didn't have our size. But chances are you wouldn't go with the stock sensor anyway. Many aftermarket guages use the very common and cheap GM sensor. Some use a small probe.

LOL, yeah, I was surprised too, but they are just getting into metric fittings, I just dropped $1400 with them for a bunch of AN stuff to re-work a engine bay.....

They must love you lol. I did my engine oil cooler trans cooler, and turbo feed line in AN stuff and I think it was roughly $400. Not cheap but it will probably still be around after we're long gone lol.

I guess Summit is a little behind on the import stuff but it's still a little surprising due to the sheer volume of import sales.

AN and braided line is a killer, I have about $1500 in lines and fitting on my 65 mustang. Most people would think you were lying, until they see 7-$8 a foot house and $45 a piece fitting.

On a more tubo related note, the clutch arrived yesterday at noon and is being installed as we speak. I think Monday is the day the first west coast turbo TL hits the streets.

As far as pics I didn't get as many as I wanted due to the clutch issue and the car being in the air with the engine on a stand. 420 WHP and TQ here I come.

Looking forward to pics of the Mustang.

I don't know how you can do two at the same time. I've put the GN on hold to get the TL perfect again. Going to put the TL on hold to go racing again soon.

67' is the year the GT500 came out..I wish I had that car. I was actually going to get a 69 MACH 1 blue, it was the 350 and I was only 15 years old so I didn't need a car yet. The sad part is it sold when I was 16, a year too early.

My quote buttons have disappeared for some odd reason, only in this thread though.

I don't want to derail it anymore but I went to school with a guy who built a 69 Mach1 as his daily driver at 17. Pretty impressive. I am not a huge fan of the body style but that thing was bad ass.
