so if an axle breaks on the MT this probably means the car will be immobile right? because the LSD needs resistance on both sides?

just thought some people should know the importance of having strong axles when ur putting down power

Rodney blew his tranny before breaking an axle....

Once that is beefed up, I am sure the axle is next.

I agree that its nice to still be able to use the bumper support but it blocks almost 1/3 of the intercooler

This was discussed in the diet thread when I removed my front and rear bumper beams. Below are my viewpoints.

Basically what Inaccurate said. In a low mph crash the bumper cover is going to get destroyed regardless if the support is there or not but it may help to protect the radiator. A front end collision at high speeds is going to cause serious damage whether or not the support is there. I dont have the bumper support on my car and you can push the bumper cover in with your hand. If i bump into anything its going to flex, possibly crack or break off

I wonder if you got into a crash and had no front bumper support on if that would cause issues with your insurance.?

thats why i'm leaving mine on. I'd rather have it than that little extra air flow. besides if i get the versus front end, it wont even matter

I removed my bumper beams for the weight savings.

For the intercooler, there is no airflow in that area anyhow. Thus, the beam is not blocking the airflow. The bumper cover is solid in that area.

Now, *if* someone wanted to add cooling ducts (click here) to that area, then the beam would be an obstruction.

Creating a "Shark Mouth" (click here) grill would be more helpful than removing the beam.

The ultimate help would be The Ultimate Cooling Mod (click here)

There are drawbacks to having no bumper beam. Insurance, parking lot bumps, distracted drivers bumping into, catastrophic damage to the AC condenser and radiator ($$$) in case of a minor accident.

Removing the bumper support defeats the 5mph impact and most insurance companies ask if you have "modified" your vehicle so yes, i suspect if you do this and have a claim you may end up losing big-time. I used to remove these on my cars all the time but mainly for racing...

Like they said, that's how they balance the turbine side.

Look at the compressor wheel and you'll likely see the white paint strip used for balancing that side.

If you ever get the chance to take a tour of a place like Turbonetics I suggest you do it. The balancing part is very neat and the machines and computers that do it are amazing. If your turbo wasn't lacking oil, you could put a compressed air nozzle in the exhaust side. You won't believe just how efficient the turbine wheel is until you put just a small amount of air to it.

The compressor wheels are fun to watch too. They're CNC milled on a 5-axis machine from a solid piece of aluminum. The process is amazing.

I've had the turbine wheel come apart on a Precision TE62. The firing order of the Buick V6 is not kind to some turbos, the harmonics can cause the turbine wheel to come apart and believe it or not a blade of the turbine wheel made it through the cast iron housing and made a sharp dent in my hood. It actually looked like it almost made it through the hood.

I asked Rodney about the paint but he didn't say why, just that it comes that way from the factory

The Tls we are currently using belongs to Xiomaro , and it's safe to say he has the first Tl types turbo 2007 tuned to 7psi @ 435whp & 407 lbtq..... Will be @ palm beach raceway this weekend not necessarily to compete but for dyno at least ...
