Its really no big deal. You can set the timer go turn the car off so just normal driving 90 secs is about optimal, but hard driving no more than 2 min 30 secs.

Also it should be wired so if you release the E-brake the timer will turn off therefor the car will turn off.

Libert was saying that his remote starter had a timer built into it.

I suppose if a timer is needed I would look at the remote starter option. Since I have a 6mt, it would have to be left in neutral to get out so it would be that way to start it up.

I have an avital remote start and it has a built in turbo timer that has 1,3,5,10 minute runtime options built in. Mine was set to 1 min form the factory. There are built in safety features so if the key is out of the ignition, you cant move the car. If the brake is depressed or the hood is opened then the car will shut off. Theres also one more that I cant remember.

You just push a combo of buttons on the remote, remove the key, exit the car and lock the door. After the specified runtime has elapsed the car will shut off.

My friend had a viper alarm with remote start, he used the remote start as a turbo timer some how because they would not use the remote start on his car since it was manual and illegal.

a turbo timer isnt really necessary simply drive the car without boost for a few minutes before ur destination

that is correct. my viper sst has a built in remote start/turbo timer and you can adjust it by intervals of 30 seconds. most shops WILL NOT activate the remote start if you have a manual, but luckily i know the guy who installed my alarm.

it could be unsafe, but its second nature for me to put it in nuetral everytime i turn off the car. those few times i park on a hill and leave it in gear, i have a switch right under the dash that disables the remote start, incase of an accidental start up.

on extremely hot days, i use the turbo timer (30secs only) when i get out, just so i know in the back of my mind, the cars is 100% in neutral. its so nice to have the ac going for 5 minutes or so before entering the car.

If I were to monitor the temperature to make sure that things have cooled down enough, Where would the thermocouple go and what would be a safe temperature to shutdown?

Exactly. Not necessary.

For those of you intent on something of this nature, a preluber would be better. It circulates oil throughout the entire engine and turbo after it's shut down. No additional heat being produced and no worries of someone driving off with the car.

Now here's the kicker the car made that power on 5.74 psi hi recorded on arm boost gauge ,due to the fact we did a quick turbo swap which allowed us to run less boost and gain a little more power at less boost pressure ..........

Why you should get 255/40-17 tires for your OEM rims !!! (click here)

They said It couldn't be done (click here)

I wouldn't run 255 slicks but I think most Z rated 245-255's should be fine & allow enough spin to not incur excessive damage. I bet most FI guys are running at least a 245 on their TL's.

In my opinion, tire width is irrelevant. It is the stickiness of the rubber compound that really matters with traction.

wouldn't the extra width help with over/under steer though? and with a little wider platform couldn't u sacrifice a little stickiness to cut down on tread wear?

thats a good tire but not "ideal" for the street. when it rains, ur gonna have fun controlling the car. and tire wear will kill those tires fast on the street

I've logged 11,000 miles on the NT05 in 255/40/17 size on stock rims.

I can't say enough about these things. They're not that loud. Treadwear is stated as 200 but it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Mine have over half the treadlife left right now which is very good for such an aggressive tire.

Straight line traction is higher than average but they really shine in the corners and braking. Cornering is unreal. Under braking the seatbelt will be the only thing holding you in. They communicate what's going on to the driver better than any street tire I've run on.

Wet traction is no worse than any other tire I've been on and I've had lots of chances to test it lately. Large deep puddles might not be a good idea but I've been through some stuff at freeway speeds that I was a little uneasy about but there were no hydroplaning problems.

Tire manufacturers have learned that the two large channels around the circumference of the tire are actually more effective at reducing hydroplaning than the sideways sipes.

Basically wear is a little quicker than a normal street tire but not bad. Traction will amaze you, I've never had anything legal come close.

Noise is average.

Wet traction is average.

You will never want to go back to normal tires again. My friend just bought a set for his Mercedes AMG CL65 after riding in the TL.

But for pure straight line acceleration you still can't beat a street legal Drag Radial whether it's Nitto, MT, or BFG.

Just to clarify for Bert... I don't think that IHC was suggesting that you get a street legal Drag Radial.

It really isn't a big deal. I have one in my supra. It is set for 60 seconds unless I change it depending on how the car has been driven. I just take the key out, lock the car up, and walk away. You can't get very far in 60 seconds.
