Did you ask Jack how payment was going to be handled? ... If they're going to ship this week I'm guessing they're going to want the rest of their money before it ships right? Sorry, just want to make sure that all of our shipments don't get delayed because they dont have payment info yet...

Glad to hear that things are moving along and that the chips will be coming soon though! Props to you for lending your car out so often to let us all take advantage of the chip!!!!

Also, don't get too mad at Jack. There was a miss communication between him and I. I thought he told me he was going to call me to let me know when to drop off car on Saturday, because I have no idea when they were going to be there. But he thought I was just gonig to bring it in. Thats that happened.. but its all good now. The car is there, and they are testing the kits on it.

FYI.

For those who are still interested in getting in on another GB, Jack said that V6Performance(??) forum is going to do one for all honda's and acuras. So you guys can get in on that.

But as a warning, don't be disspointed if the price is not as good as what we got. Jack stated to me that this was a very special price from them to us, for putting the time and trust in them, for developing this product. Therefore no matter what, only the 35 of you guys here are gonig to get this kind of deal.

and I want to say thanks to Brian for lending his ride out so many times for so long and taking the time to drive down there all the time to drop off payments, and calling to check on it, etc .. thanks for making this mod successful for the 35 of us smart enough to jump in on it

I do what I can.

As for the payments, all I heard was that they were going to contact you guys individually to figure out how you guys plan on sending in the payments.

I should be picking up my car tonight, if anything I will ask Jake tonight when I see him.

Got the car back last night. Here is a few notes:

1. Visual confirmation that all harnesses has been done.

2. All GBer will be contacted starting on Monday I belief.

3. There will be 2 switchs and one LED from the harness that people can mount in their cars. (I just tucked it away with the chip, under the carpet.)

-First switch is to control what map the ECU will be using. For everyday use, the switch will be at OFF position (LED off, keep in mind this is not stock map, it is already the streetable Unichip map), and for track use (requires race gas), the 2nd map contains a more aggressive timing map that will require race gas to run it safely. When this switch is in on position, the LED comes on. (This is what I was told from the Unichip tech/tuner, but I will verify this once I get the instructions from Jack via Email.)

-Second switch is the ECU reset switch. This makes it a little bit more convient for users to reset their ECU other then pulling the jumper or unplugging the battery. This is also cases when sometimes on the initial installation of the chip, sometimes the stock ECU will throw a CEL, this will help you quickly clear it, and everything is fine from there.

4. They told me that my car did throw a CEL, when they gave me the new Chip w/ harness, but since they have cleared it, and have yet seen any more CELs coming back on. More on this later.

5. The chip everyone will be getting is an even more updated MAP (street version). The tuner told me that since they had a my car for an extra day, they decided to road tune the car even further. (originally my car was only tuned on the Dyno), so he said that they made some slight adjustments to timing top end, and adjusted the A/F near the bottom end. So the car drives even smoother than before, and if anything they probably squeezed another 1 or 2 horses out of it.

6. Personal impressions. I took it out both last night and this morning on my way into work. The car ran great Even at 85-90 degree weather yesterday, the car felt like it was still very peppy, and vtec still pulls like a mofo in that temp. Most importantly, NO CELs. Now I have to take my car in for its 25K service (26K on the OD), I might just take 5 min and unplug this chip and take it in to the dealer.

What exactly is race gas? Is it just gas with an octane higher that 93, which is the highest that I can get a the pump?

Race gas are 100+ octane. Most race tracks will sell them. Very expensive though. :o

You might want to read Matt's thread about the UniChip and NOS. I think they had it setup to run off of the switch you get with the NOS system.

I didn't expect this "dual-stage" chip at all! Did your first hardwired chip has this function? Also I didn't expect to need 100+ octane either. Oh well, whatever it takes for more HP. We are going to need to see some new dynos now. Stock, "Street" setting, "Track" Setting. Hope we finally hear from them Monday as promised.

what would happen, if you accidently had the chip in the wrong setting. Say have it on the track setting, when in actuality you are driving normaly?

I would think that if you were going to the track it would be best to have a low tank when you get there, then add around 3-5 gallons of race gas. You'd be fine to run it on track setting until you need to fill up again. At that time I would go back to 93 octane and keep it on the street setting.

...........So if we do get a "cel" do we clear it with the switch on the unichip or do we have to undue the battery cable. Sorry want to make sure i understand this right

The 2nd switch will act as a ECU reset switch. There will be no need to ever undue the battery cable again to reset the ECU.

thanks steve, what about when you disconnect the unichip to take your car to the dealer. any chance of throwing a cel after taking out the chip.

I would doubt it. I mean you'd be taking it back to stock form. I don't think that will be an issue. Hopefully we will all see soon enough. I'm getting impatient. :o We even have confirmation that all the harnesses are done. They'd have to have a good excuse to not ship them this week.

I would go with the race fuel. The octance boosters only bring up the octane a few points, i.e. from 93.0 to 93.3).

That, or run about 20% Toluene with the 93 which would give you 97.2 octane.

Yep. Steve is right, if you guys do decide to run on Race setting, I would just run to "E" then fill up a few gallon of race gas. (100+).

Poke with Jake on Friday, he said things should be finalized by today. so far so good, still no CEL.

Now i'm just tring to decide whether or not to mount the switchs and the LED.

Its monday .. did anyone else get an email about payment yet? If all harnesses are done I can't imagine whats taking them so long .. you'd think they would want to get payed

anyway .. where is everyone planning on mounting their switches\led? I want to get a few ideas before I start hacking away at interior panels for mounting.

and I have one other question .. I may be WAY off on this, but its worth asking because I am sure someone has the answer ... doesnt our VSA work with timing? like when VSA kicks on and we are losing traction, it changes your timing to make less power (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) .. will the unichip affect this causing VSA to work improperly?
