It is not about the wires, it is about the connectors and sockets which are only available from AMP/Tyco. Plus, without ordering in quantities of 5000+ pieces the price is much higher; $30 for the socket and about $10 - $20 for each connector (there are four total). You also need about 100 terminals but those are still inexpensive.

This is not even including the labor to research and determine the correct connectors and sockets, the design of the product including packaging and finally the manufacturing.

But if you can do it for less, here is AMP's website, enjoy.

That is not a DynoJet dyno so the normal comparisons are not valid. The average CL-S with I/H will put down between 220 - 230 WHP with most in the lower half of that range on a DynoJet dynamometer. With the addition of the UR pulleys and the Unichip I see no reason why, on a DynoJet, a CL-S wouldn't make between 240 - 250 WHP.

Or about what I made in my 6-Speed with just H/I. :P

6 speed chip?

CLS and scalbert -

Great thread... Appreciate your efforts...

Any update on the chip for the 3.2 6 speed I/H/E??? Would it help your discussions with UniChip if the 6 speed chip was part of the mix?

Cheers!!

Go for it man. Believe me i'd do it if I wasn't on the opposite side of the country. You would be getting a free chip($700+value) and helping out all members of ACL.com.

What are you waiting for? I was originally going up there from the BA until I found a great deal on a S/C that I couldn't refuse.

I spoke with Jack today and the price is as far as he can go.. I let him know that there could be more business on his way if we could get it down to $700 and he said that was the best he could do.. I also tried Darrins' approach and it wasn't effective at all.. He basically said he is trying to do the ACL community a favor in producing this for us. Just from how he sounded, it seems he'll drop the project b/c he isn't making much on it to begin with. Needless to say I did not persue that approach. He is DEFINETLEY willing to offer a 20% discount if we can get 40 people.. So lets focus more on getting more maybes in and recruiting a few others...!

I just spoke with Brian and he is setting the PO Box up and he'll be posting the info in the next few days...

We need to take all this effort of complaining about the price into recruiting to hit the 40 person price break. The CL is a dying breed unfortunatley and Jack is trying to give us the best deal and take care of us..

Guys, i called Jack right now, this is the BREAKDOWN:

We are right now in between the 20 and 30 people bracket, which means we are getting 10-15% off (10 for 20 and 15% for 30 people)

According to Jack, we can move forward RIGHT NOW and the price will be discounted in between the 10 to 15% for the 25 or 26 people we currently have. To make this easier, we will pay 700 flat AS IT IS NOW.

Now, i HIGHLY doubt we will hit 40, especially since we only have 6 or so maybe's which would take us up to 30.
If we have the GB close at 1 week from today, we will get this for 700 (25 people) OR if we hit 30 by then, we will be paying about 680.

So these are pretty much the prices, give or take 15 bucks. Its up to Brian/Jonesi to decide when this thing closes, but i think its best to have it in one week.
JACK is being flexible with the pricing so even if go to like 33 people when the GB closes, he will probably give us a little a bit better discount than having 30 people. THIS MEANS EVERY FEW PEOPLE THAT JOIN WILL BRING PRICE EVEN LOWER THAN 700 (give or take 15 bucks)

IMO, we should set the GB to end in 1 week from tomorrow, so next Friday. Whatever people get in on it, we give Jack that number and get a solid price from there. THe price will be below 700 when GB closes, so thats a definite plus!
When are deposits being taken?

Damn.. I just talked to him and he didn't seem to budge even a inch and now he's saying 700.. hmmmm.. Maybe we bugged him enough to budge..

Now are you saying $700 for 25 people?

It will be difficult to get all the checks and everything to Brian in a week.. In this case lets close it in 2 weeks.IMO..

I think once he starts seeing the dollar signs with the deposits we may get some price breaks.
