Me and Brian discussed this and when he starts receiving the deposits he'll let me know and I'll update the list I've been using. I also sent everyone PM's with all the info as a reminder..

Not sure. But I will request it when I drop off the money.

Another thing I will try to get from Jack is a collective receipt with everyones real name and address on it. I'll then scan it and sent them out to all of the buyers. That is unless you guys have a better idea on how to get Uni-Chip to confirm your payment.

This will be a Plug n Play unit.. So if it needs to be taken to the dealership, you'd unplug this piggyback unit.. And as long as you do not leave it in the dealership ill not know.

Yes it appears so. I heard back from Jack and he said that it does appear that the harnesses are different. (A quick look at the Helms reveals that they are indeed very different). He's still willing to do a harness but says he will need a car to work with so us 6-speeders are back where we started. I apologize for the false alarm. We can still do it though and I will stay in communication with Jack about it. Looks like it will have to be a separate deal from this GP though. All we need to do is get them a car so they can make the harness. I think a harness could be made from the diagrams in the Helms but it would probably be best to just get them a car to work with/dyno etc.

:cough:, :cough: I hear an echo.

If someone could get the Unichip pin outs a 6-Speed harness could be made.

Not to rain on your parade, but...

I'm glad I decided not to bring my 6 speed up there this month because Jack assured me that the PnP harness for the 6 speed was the same, even though I told him it wasn't. It's a mute point for me anyway cause I opted to install a S/C instead. I'll wait and see if UniChip and CompTech come up with an application for the S/C. But I won't be holding my breath, cause I don't think it's feasible.

BTW- has Jack ever installed and tested a PnP harness on a 5AT CL? I sure hope he does before he starts shipping them out to you guys. With a prototype and initial production run for these PnP harnesses, there may be bugs in the design and/or assembly process that could result in bad harnesses delivered to you guys. I would check with Jack to make sure he not only does a continuity test on every harness prior to shipment, but that at least one from the production run is installed and tested on a car. Otherwise, there may be a run on new ECU purchases; if you know what I mean.

That's what I thought. I'm not sure if Jack is actually a tech guy or just a salesman. He said it was unclear from the Helms. It's not really. Those plugs are waaaaaaay different but it shows all the pin outs. I would think they could do it without a car provided the mapping is the same.

Rain is fine.. Rains here all the time in Oregon.. i'm used to it.

Anyway, yes the PnP harness will be tested. As soon as I hand the deposit, they will also keep my car so they can test the engineering prototype harness on my car. Once everything is good, they will then send it on to the factory for the build.

Thank you for your concern.

Yep, I think You have plenty of time to get it cleared. I just asked for either Money order or Bank issued check addressed to Uni-Chip because those takes no time to clear at all.

Quickly - someone who's better equipped to answer questions than I, please go to V6 Performance.net Forums > CAR SPECIFIC DISCUSSION > HONDA & ACURA @ V6P.net > ACURA TL & CL > Unichip Groupbuy right now. There seems to be some new interest there. Or if you're not registered there, provide me with the answers and I'll post them.

Ok, I'll be honest, I didn't read through this whole thread ... But I'm interested and I had a couple of questions that maybe someone can answer quickly for me.

1. I send $100 deposit in, when do I send in the rest of the money, and about when do we think these will ship?
2. Now that there are 31 orders placed are we at the $650 mark for cost? At some point I think I heard if we got 30+ buyers the cost might go down to $650.00 ... I'd definitely be in for $650.
3. There's a 2 year warranty on these things, so does that mean I'm protected if I get the thing and it doesn't work or it fries my ECU? ... I've had a bad experience with Stone Headers (they didn't fit... TWICE!) and they have no expressed warranty, so a warranty is important to me.
4. Anyone know how much faster you'd run with a 10-15 hp/torque gain across the entire band? Those are pretty respectable gains considering its across the entire rpm band.
5. How do I pay for the deposit? There was some discussion about credit card and who we pay and like I said I couldnt sit through reading all of it ... Sorry, I apologize!

Oh #6. How hard is this to install? I know it says PnP but I'm wondering how much stuff I need to pull out to get to the ECU ... Anyone have directions on how to get to the ECU or directions on installing another Unichip for the RSX or something somewhat close to our cars?

I've never really pulled apart my car before and I just want to make sure this isn't going to be one of those times that you end up with 100 screws on the floor wondering which one goes where

#7. The unit comes pre-flashed for our cars, but would we need to take it in to get it reflashed if we have different mods, like Headers + Intake but no exhaust versus H/I/E ? ...

1. Send the rest in about a month and a half to 2 months. They go into production I believe the end of march and will take a month to be produced .. so end april\beginning may.

2. I'm pretty sure 31 orders puts us at 675$

3. no idea about warranty but I'm willing to bet if it fries your ECU they won't pay to replace that.

4. no idea how much faster that will make you run (I'd assume in the 1\4 your talking about) but the gains are practically from 2K straight to redline, with a considerable top end gain. Having that extra power in the midrange will make everyday driving alot easier too .. but I'm sure you'll really notice it when the pedals to the floorboard.

5. I think it was said that unichip doesnt want anything to do with payment .. but I think paypal was being accepted? dont remember exactly

6. the install is very simple. I think all you need is a ratchet and a screwdriver. you just pull up the carpet behind the radio and unplug the harness, plug in the chip, then plug the harness into the chip. 15min job. I've never done it but I'm just going by what they've said in the thread (I've been reading it all along)

7. the unit was tuned for a CL-S with intake\headers\exhaust already. You can use it if your car is stock but the more mods you have, the more you get out of it.

Thanks for all of the answers. $675 is pretty damned good for 10-15hp across the entire rpm range.

Where can I find details on the $100 deposit? And when does the GB officially end? Could probably scrape up the $100 this weekend and then would have no problems paying the rest in a month or two.

Count me as an "IN", just need to know where to send the deposit!

Nah I prolly will too ...

Finally got through reading the whole freakin thread and I found the address..

No offense intended but you guys should try to put that information in the first post and include the end date for the GB there too. Soopa can prolly edit the first post to put that info in there.

Anyways, I'll probably run to the bank or the Post office tomorrow to get a bank check / money order sent out! That should put us at 32... 8 people sounds pretty far away but it'd be pretty sweet if we could get 40... $636 after the 20% discount sounds awesome.
