Me too!! I hope that this is not a sign of how long it will take them to produce these things if it carries through.

So if I get the SC later I just unplug the chip it and send it to unichip for reprograming? Do they already have a program developed for that application?

Yep...just send it back out. They don't have a map for that application yet though. You could be the first.

Any price updates from Jack yet???

To be honest I think the best option for a S/C application is the emanage unit.. I believe cls6sp03, can't remember his name, but he said UniChip and Comptech will be working together to help produce one for that application for his car.. But you could always sell it if you do buy a S/C..

If you are planning on a SC in the near future, I would wait or go with an emanage solution until Jack (Unichip) and Shad (CompTech) come up with a SC/Unichip application. There are integration issues that need to be worked out first. Also, Shad mentioned to me that he had worked on SC/Unichip development a few years ago without any real success regarding decent power gains. However, Jack recently told Shad that the latest version of the Unichip may integrate better with the SC. I will see Shad tomorrow when I get my newly SC'd CLS 6sp dyno'd at CompTech. I'll talk with him more about this.

Guys, still no response from Jake yet as of this morning.

I sent him an email last night before I left work. So if I don't hear from him, I'm going to try to stop by their office, if I can get off work a lil early.

That is not good!... You should here from this Jake. If if the unit price is $650 and 40 Units are to be sold... That is more $26k. Any Salesperson/Owner who does not follow on such a sales account is DUMB!

Nope, you will also need to install one or two additional fuel injectors somewhere in the upper intake manifold, run control wires from the Unichip location and a power source to the injectors.

Then you will also need the Unichip reprogrammed.

Latest NEWS

Here is what Jack has send me. So with 30, we can be in for under $700 ranage. But even at 20, we are still a lot better off then people paying retail price.

Brian,

Here's what I know right now. I should have the pre-production prototype in my hands about 25 March, and would like to get you're CL back in here to remove the Unichip and re-install it with the PnP harness. Assuming the GB is together by then, we'll immediately enter production and should have the kits ready for sale about 30 days later.

I still want to get a manual gear box car - either CL Type S or TL Type S in to do some full maps on... any news on that front?

I won't know an exact price until I validate the harnesses next month, but my target for the NA kit is $795... pre-programmed and ready to install. I don't see any reason right now the price will vary by more than a few dollars from that figure. As I
said, if the GB reaches the minimum number of 20%, the discount is 10% and if it reaches 30, the discount is 15% so the respective costs would be $715.50 and $675.75.

Please let me know where the GB currently stands... the sooner I get names and deposits the sooner I can order raw materials and the sooner I can get the production kits made.

Cheers,
Jack

So what do you guys think? Should we just move forward with 20?

btw, it seems like he can take your deposits directly. But I've replied back to him just to make sure. I will let everyone know.

Let's just close it right now at 20 and get production started. We've already waited long enough for anyone else to join in.

Jack's Reply

Brian,

I'd prefer them to pay someone within the forum like you who will then pass the money over to me... the idea is for me to work the tuning/hardware side while someone is working the GB issues within the forum.

There's no need to wait, what we'll do is to establish a cutoff date for participation... I'd recommend Friday 12 March just to pick a date. If someone wants to be in the GB, they must have all required information (name, address, e-mail, telephone number, car, and modifications) to you by that date.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers,
Jack

Scott,

Judging my Jack's email, not sure 25 means anything to him at this point.

But lets get the ball rolling. I will post the address of a PO box by Monday.

Would be nice to get 30 people, $675 sounds so much better then $715.

We need to convert more "maybe's."

At this point, it's up to you guys. I can give my car up whenever. But like Jack suggested, maybe we can just have a dead line of March 12th. and if we do hit 25, I will talk him down to even $700.

IF we set it up now, and set a date . Maybe by that point, we'll have the totals we need.

Do all 30 cars have to be A/T CL/TL-S, or can we get 30 combined from A/T's, sticks, and even CL/TL-P's?

If so, we need to get someone with a 6 speed & a Cl/TL-P to get their car to Unichip.

Jack will be very happy to test one out. Whoever do it get a free chip too.

We are shooting for March 12th as the dead line. PO box will/should be setup by Monday.

yo...$715 for 20 seemsa a little high don'tcha think. I mean he's gonna make thousands in profit cause it don't take much to make wires and a circuit board. I say hold til at least 30 and get him down to $650 per chip at thirty....lets not forget theres gonna be tax and shipping. At $675 plus tax and shipping it's gonna be like $760 or so...for 30 buys!!!Tell him to budge w/ the price some more and he'll see a bigger turnout. Ya know what I mean guys???

Oregon = no tax

Well, it's not up to me.. and no one is twisting anybody's arms on this groupbuy. If you wanna pay for $795 retail, be my guest.

But if everyone want to wait for 30, $675 is not bad at all. Ant7701, you seem to have all the numbers figured out in your head. Feel free to eamil or give Jack a call to see what you can do. The 800 number is there.

I personally don't know the process involved in making the chip, or the R&D time involved, therefore, I'm not going to judge whether or not that price is too high. The fact is that, this GB WILL safe people money, compare to buying it retail. Isen't that what a GB is for??

20 @ $715 w/ PnP harness is a good deal. Without this GB, it would cost you $795 w/o a PnP harness. You be the judge.

hehehe...I would be down for that Darrin but it's never gonna be that so. Anyways no tax huh, well thats a relief. So at 30 buyers we would most likely be paying $700 w/ shipping included. I know the group buy will save money and i REALLY APPRICIATE everything that ur doin for us...don't take it the wrong way. I just wanna save as much cash as possible I say lets stick it out for 30 buyers...and hopefully by the time we put down the deposit for 30 buyers then more will come by the time they will be completed. Did Jack say for sure he was gonna be able to make a P+P harness?? Again I don't mean to be a pain in the ass...I was just looking to spend under $700 w/ everything so I got a little uptight.

I ain't no bitch, bitch I would love to do that trust me and I would if I were dealing w/ them personally but I'm not. Plus I don't think everyone else thats in on the group buy would do it also...and I defintily don't wanna see anyone back out. I know they're gonna make a killing...shit they're gonna make a fuckin huge killing but if they don't budge...I'm not gonna let this pass me by. I want the chip too damn bad.

darrin has a point, and trust me it can be done. but at this point, unichip realized that they had secured themselves some buyers for the 700+ price.
i think their prices are way too high, but i didnt get to negotiate them so theres nothing i or anyone else can do, except for the individual who started the GB.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels 700+ for this chip is a bit high, especially with the amount of people we'll be throwing him. 650 plus shipping would be a decent price.

And maybe someone can clarify to me why we need to have a cut off at March 12th if hes not even going to have the chip ready by then .. I think all of us would like to save as much money as possible, and the only way it seems we're going to do that is with alot of people involved in this group buy. I think we should hold out at least til he has the pre-production model, or til we hit 30 people (whichever first). with 30 people I can't see why he couldn't give us a price of 650 with PnP, plus shipping. I agree with darrin and Ant they will make a KILLING on this chip. No reason they should have us by the balls on the price with the amount of cash they'll be making on us

With the way hes talking .. pre prod. model by 25th of march, chips ready 1 month from then, so lets say end of april. by the time they get shipped .. we'd see them by mid to end of May? I say we work on the 30 and a price of 650 w PnP, shipping extra.
