I'm not digging the dual thread action anymore. Can we just go back to the Dallas thread and dump the Texas thread?

I edited the first page saying thanks for the great two day meet and referenced folks to this thread. We are done with that thread. Inferno

Miscellaneous thoughts regarding the Comptech headers: I ran the numbers RUF and I got on the dyno and compared them to the Comptech dyno numbers.

In round numbers, Comptech showed a 20% loss from the 260 horsepower figures. They showed stock at 208 hp at the wheels for stock (208/.8=260).

When the ran the test with headers, they showed a 24 horsepower gain, going to 232 hp. If you do the math, that shows an estimated 290 hp at the flywheel (232/.8=290).

RUF posted a 192 hp which would be 25% loss from 260. My 215 hp is a 23 hp gain. However, if you do the math for my 215 hp dyno using RUF's percentage, you still get 290 hp at the flywheel. Which tells me the dynos are in a different calibration but the results are basically the same relative gains.

And Mantis paid $350 for his OBX headers and posted 211 hp. Not a bad return on investment, really.

And look out, RUF, when I get new wheels, I intend to make you work harder for your wins!!! Obie Wan, I can feel the force...

What a great weekend! Inferno

And my Men's outdoor soccer team won the championship match today! Yours truly, Inferno, had the game winning assist in the second minute of play after pouncing on a loose ball in the box, beating two defenders on the dribble, and getting a wicked shot on goal which the keeper could only knock away--right to the waiting foot of my friend Lee who tapped it in. We held on for 88 more scoreless minutes and closed the season undefeated!!!

So did I have the fastest run of the nite?!?!?! Here's my time slips, and no mantis, that 14.63 isn't a typo!

Well guys, that was a great weekend and I sure had a lot of fun. Those two videos are great and the Mantis Special Edition of COPS was especially funny .

For all you guys that left, you will be happy to know that the dyno guys finally got a normal read out for my runs with 163 whp @ around 6k if I remember correctly. There was a gear ratio option for some reason, and when they changed it, all of the sudden the numbers went back to normal.

Thanks to everyone that came out and yes, we should do that again in the spring time.

That's not bad Casper, 163 is only about a 14% loss from 190 hp. I'm sure that y-pipe helped a little, but do you know how much it's supposed to add to the wheels?

Well, here is a full tech analysis on the y-pipe dyno (http://www.motorvate.ca/auto/maxima/...-pipe_dyno.htm).

The thing is that the tested car (as mentioned on the page) is also a 95 Maxima but it's a 5-speed and was tested in 4th gear. He also has an intake, so I really don't know. In comparison, I'm thinkin, once I do my tranny swap to a 5-speed, I will increase to the numbers he has. Plus, 190 is the stock hp, so god knows what I was pushing to the ground before the y-pipe considering that it added 18hp to his. Just gotta save up for the tranny swap

Thanks

Casper, Thanks again for organizing the week-end. It was great to meet every one that showed up at the track and at the dyno shop.
At the track I only made one run I kinda got frustrated with the line. I sat there for an hour. Next time I go later whin half the cars are gone. Anyway - My car is completly stock save the drop in K&N and I have never done a christmass tree start before. I had a .8 reaction time ran a 16.2 at 85.2 Got beat by one fastass Integra.
My dyno run showed a best of 158.5hp and 149.6 torque at the wheels. This will be my base to work from as I start makeing mods.
OBX headers first!!

For the guys that made it to the dyno shop. You might want to make note of the temperature and humidity at the time of your test. You can get this from the Dallas News under diary in Sundays Metro section. Example - 2:pm 72' at a relitive humidity of 43%.

No problem Bluesman, I enjoyed organizing it, and I can't leave out Mantis, Danny, and Inferno for getting as many people involved as they could along with doing what they could to make things go smooth as well.

Next for me is intake and exhaust. Gotta find a pretty muffler. With one very important mod down, I too have a base number to work from. All the more reason to do this again in the spring when the track opens back up .

Damn site won't let me log in (i'm danny25).

anyway, I wish I could have met more people, I think I only met DeezNutz, Bluesman, Rootbeer, Casper, and a couple of Casper's Nissan friends. That Hooters thing didn't work as well as I'd hoped, it was just too crowded. Then at the track I spent most of the night waiting in the lines so I don't think I got to see anyone race except for Inferno and Ruf once. Oh well, live and learn so the next one can be better.

Now that's optimism. We had a great time this time and most everything went to plan, but next time, hopefully we can get more cars at the track and at the dyno! If you don't mind mantis, I will post whatever links you post here on the Maxima thread. You are more than welcome to pw over there as I do here .

And if you want to, you can also write a fun loving poem

Hey everyone. Thanks to the guys who organized the track night. It was a great time. It was good to meet all of you guys. I've been extremely busy since Friday night, so I haven't had time to chime in yet. Still am.

The lines were too long for me to run more than once (had to work way early Saturday morning unfortunately, and wanted to watch some of the other cars), so I only got to do the *baseline* non-power-brake, SS-mode run, and wasn't really ready for the green light (I was a track newbie). I ran a 14.83 @ 94.97MPH with a terrible R/T. I'll post the numbers when I get home and see the ticket.

I can't wait for the spring to get back there and have some more fun. I wonder if they'll ever get the Ice Box ready?!?!?

I have the video captured at home for my run, and Bob's (325Ci) first run. I'll get those on the web and drop the link in here tonight if i get home in time. It's pretty funny with my camera-man's commentary.

mantis, where do you get your amsoil? I need a change soon, and I want to switch to synthetic. I wonder if it will help my 1/4 times.:P When you take the oil to the dealer for a change, do you bring a new filter, or let them use their own?

I normally buy my own oil & filter and let them do it so I can have it on record.

Filter: Mobil One M1-104
Oil Amsoil or Mobil One Synthetic. I switch back and forth.

I got my last batch of amsoil from Fender4 here on the board.

I have Adobe Premiere and AfterEffects if you want some help with the video editing. They're pretty badazz programs.

If you have some stuff that needs to be chopped up, some music tracks added here and there, still shots added, etc., I'm at your disposal. It's really easy with Premiere. File size gets to be an issue with special effects, etc. They don't compress as well as straight digital video to MPEG or AVI.

If you wanna put the raw video footage and mp3's somewhere I can ftp it down, or stop by with a CD with the raw stuff some time, I'm definitely game. I love that stuff.

My numbers

R/T 1.306
60' 2.338
330' 6.384
1/8 9.637 @ 75.64 MPH
1000 12.463
1/4 14.843 @ 94.97 MPH

I'm sure I'd have broken into the 13's if I got more runs in.

All of the stuff I have is already encoded with mpeg. Its fairly shitty quality as I took it with my digi cam, but it gets the job done.

Should I post all the vids somewhere, and you get them, select the best of the bunch, and do as you please? The music selection can be up to you.

Yeah, that's cool. Put them up somewhere, and I'll grab them and post a final video showing as much of everyone's stuff as I can cram in 1/2 minutes. Of course, everyone's gonna have to live with *my* music choices if I'm driving solo.

I still think the CLS and TLS's didn't come out right. I bet even though they got that one reading to work, it came up short.

Everyone one of us was well below the norm for these cars. Stock Type-S's are usually in the 197-203hp range. We came in at 185-192hp, about 11-12hp lower than norm.

I'm really thinking about getting another one done elsewhere to see if there is a real difference.

Anyway, it was a blast both days, and thanks to all that helped in the planning.

DZ, pick up the zip file @ http://www.titaniumrecords.net/vidz.zip

I didn't put all the vids in there, (some were duplicates, like on the dyno day) let me know when you've picked it up so I can take it down.
