As I posted over there guys...when Austin did this groupbuy he had a lot of people complain about quality. They're not Brembo...Nova is wrong...they're EBC. Also, they're single coated, and 3 people have had the coating wear off in non contact areas and the rotors rust. He's said he's found another distributor who does double coated rotors, and for cheaper, and will be groupbuying them soon. I'm sure if you all PMed him on acura world .com or IMed him on AIM like I do all the time as Austin519 he'd talk to you about it....

I noticed that they weren't Brembo... they just didn't look right.

Austin is a good guy and if he is going to do a group deal and I had an Acura to do this to, I would go through him. I've talked with him on the phone while DuckBlue and I were in Austin last year and he's really nice.

I'd say get the pads and SS lines from that group buy, but wait for the rotors through Austin

Danny, like you funds are tight. Sales have been flat and I', 65/35 so commision is where I get my play money.

However, I am interested in getting some SS lines, but without better rotors I'm not sure its worth it. One of those deals where you probably should do it all at once.

I've actually read about a lot of people upgrading their lines before actually doing the rotors. Doing the lines is a difficult thing, but changing the rotors is a cake walk. It might be nice to do it all at once, but I'm not sure i'd get those rotors... personally.

Had fun at the track last night(Sacramento Raceway). I got to meet 3 of the guys out there. Two 1st gens and an S CL. The first gen 2.3 I believe was the fastest of the three. He ran in the high 14s Im not sure of his mods it was CLver2.3 on the SAC posts. Anyway it was fun and there was a Camero there that ran a 9.8 and a Pinto in the low 10s. The Pinto did a 3' wheely and jumped down the track. That was cool.

I'm glad that worked out for ya. Sounds like you had a good time. Who was the type S driver? And how did he lose to a 2.3 CL??

SS brake lines are easy to install, I did it with the help of a guy that had a TL, I think his online name was wakattack... All we needed were jackstands. After we got them installed, we went out to an open stretch of road and did the highly reliable "slam on your brakes and see who stops the fastest" test.

We picked a point to start braking(from 55mph), and I consistently stopped shorter than he did. On average I stopped about 3-10ish feet before him(the first time he stopped wayyy before me, but I fucked up). We were both empty in the trunk, so no weight difference there....I don't remember if our gas levels were the same though.

I didn't really "feel" the difference per se, but the results were obvious.

I was confused. The Type S was faster and only the 2.3 was a first gen but he had one run of 15.19.

Well Danny, if you MUST ask, it was one first gen, my 01 cls and peiginglongs 03 cls. The first gen had a 75 shot of NOS. I dont know what the fawk was wrong with me or my car, but I ran HI 15s. Last time I went to the track, I ran 15.1, and I should have been in the 14s. The 03 had I/H/E, and ran 15.1. CiLver had a GREAT day, while the CL-S's looked silly. I don't know WTF happened!!!

no, peiginglong's 03 is an auto.

Yeah, those sound like very bad conditions. I was running 14.6s with I/H on a hot and humid day.

There's more to it than just comparing the temp and humidy. The ratios, air pressure, track temperature, all make it nearly improssible to figure out.

That's why the Pros have their own mini weather stations and or are tuned into the local weather stations. That way they can retune the car, etc as the day or weekend progresses.

I've always heard it said that "high humidity results in humility"

We also need to remember that while we have high humidity from time to time, it's not quite like some other places.

So depending on where you were, say near the coast out there, it could have been one of those really "damp" and cool days. That can wreck havok on your performance. Nothing like watering down the combustion.

I am in for May 16. I will have the car back next week, the jinx is over (got the replacement wheel in 3 days), and I know better than to take a "you can hand me my arse" bet with you, RUF. But watch out, I think this will be our best racing yet!!!

Replacement is here (at Goodson, now), took three days (so the jinx is over), and they will finish Monday/Tuesday. When the body "flexed" it put a dimple in the roof next to the sun roof. I didn't see it, but the body guy said "always look there 'cause that is the hinge point on the Acura." They have all the bits and pieces together and are finishing everything today and Monday.

I hope to see EVERYONE at the track on 5/16.

RUF--do you want to edit your first page to reflect this new date?

I used to live in SactoTown (go American River College!), and I can tell you that the humidity can be bad ass. Ever hear about the Tuley Fog? I have been it when I couldn't see past the hood of the car (really). I had to look out my passanger car window at the ground and follow the center line until I got out of the bad patch. Crazy stuff, that west coast humidity...

Thanks for the note, but believe it or not, I already did note that we were looking at the 16th.

No we just need to get a roll call going and ping some of the less frequent members like Rootbeet and PlanoTLS.

Let's get everyone out for this one.

Sorry Man, but this meet is planned for the Motorplex at Ennis.

We want to get in one more track meet before the weather gets too hot. And several guys want to test out their latest mods.

I know the meet is a week and a half away, but I figured it's never too early to get some firm plans. Do you guys wanna meet somewhere b4 the track or just meet at Ennis?

Well boys, I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but here goes. Of course, I've turned into an Ennis junkie and go whenever someone will go with me. One of my SpecV buddies comes with me a lot. Sadly, I've gotten to know a couple of the ladies at the Wendy's right there at 45 and 287 .

The Bad News:
We arrived at Ennis around 6:15ish and there was NO ONE THERE! That's the great news. All in all there were like 40 cars total all night! The bad news is that I ran once when I arrived, then pulled my car up to let the engine cool off. I had the front of the car facing the wind and the hood up. I went back to the car after watchin some races for about 30 mins and the damn thing was still hot! The air was really humid and I was startin to break a sweat while out there. The 16th probably won't be any better, but it'll be an interesting show down. I'm game for sure. Basically we need to come up with some way to cool those engines better......

And just for the info, surprisingly my best run was a 15.4 w/ crappy weather when my best ever is a 15.2. I think I'm movin up!

heh, I was gettin' worried there for a second Casper, I thought you had some _really_ bad news...

*insert tasteless bragging right here*...and let us not forget who currently holds the fastest title for the area.

With this humid weather we've had lately, I think I'll be able to hold on to it, at least until this fall.

Umm, we could meet up before the event...pick a time & place...holy crap guys.... I just assumed that the 16th was a race night, but I just checked, and its not... they have a weekend event going on that weekend called Super Chevy Show...We need to pick another date guys...

ps, I'll be out of town this weekend... soo..........
