I'm sorry dude.. didn't mean to scare ya.....

and you're the man to beat eh..... i'm comin to getcha!

If you're a no go this Friday and the 16th is an obvious no go according to their website (www.texasmotorplex.com), then the 23rd is the earliest we can get out there.

Yalls call!

Man, we can't have a meet with the Mantis. It just wouldn't be right . . . if he wasn't there to defend his title. :P

Also, my bad on not checking out the schedule of events at the Motorplex.

Since Mantis is likely to be out, and I'm very likely to go anyway, as a spectator, I suggest one of the following weeks after the 23rd.

BTW - I'm serious about going to Super Chevy Sunday. I used to go a lot to that event being an old Chevy guy. Let me know if anyone wants to go and maybe we can just hang and watch the V8s battle it out.

Dyno Update

I forgot to ask you guys. Let me know as soon as you can which day you would prefer to dyno. Either the weekend of the 17th or the 24th. So far, it's seeming as if the 24th will be the winner, but the votes are still coming. Let me know so that I can finally call the shop today.

Ohh hell yeah! He just traded in his Saturn for a Mazda Mx6 yesterday with a standard transmission just so he could learn to drive standard before he gets the STi...He can't drive it worth a shit, but better to do it on the MX6 than the STi... god damn, I can't wait till it gets here!

I'm not going to Miami, I'm in for Ennis on Friday the 23rd if it fits everyone else's schedule.

I'll also pick the 24th for the Dyno...

haha, we'll make it another Track Night/Dyno WEEKEND!

I think the 24th is the answer.

My lil sis is graduating from high school that weekend also, so I gotta find out when so that I don't miss much of the Dyno.

I haven't been around herre in a while... MCATs was a week and a half ago, finals are around the corner (this friday and next tuesday) so I'm swamped. What's this about the 24th? my sister's graduation party is that day so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it. I'm trying to scrounge together some $$$ for a new toy. This summer I'll have an internship out in LA and so I'll be there making $$$ for some headers and nitrous. Not sure when i'll have time to play considering I have to do tons of paperwork for my med school apps right now.

did any of you new ice-box guys wanna throw your old AEMs my way? just a thought ...

How'd those MCATs go? Good luck on your finals, I just took my first and only one today, and I know I got an A.

The only bad thing about having the biggest thread in ACL history (as far as I know) is it takes a long fricken time to load with a 56K.

Dittos!

I've got broadband and it still takes forever just to bring up the main page.

If I go over to the TL-com forum it is much faster. Maybe it has something to do with the CLs being slower. :P

I've also sent an email to the thread moderator and have not heard anything back . . and it's been 2 weeks almost.

FYI -

Regarding Super Chevy Sunday.

I'm planning on going Saturday the 17th. Still working on when exactly I'll go, but it 95% certain that I will.

It one fun meet. Not only are there all sorts of classes racing, there are swap meeting, car shows, performance vendors, and

So let me know if anyone is going and we'll try and hook up.

I can't remember if I have to work or not on the 17th, I'll find out.

Have you been to one of these Super Chevy Sundays b4? Is it just all Chevys or old hot rods, or what?

Yes, I've been to a few of them over the years.

They are mostly a Chevy event, but I seem to recall a few other GM products out there.

So unless you are an Import (Impotent) kind of guy, then the V8 scene won't turn you on.

For me, drag racing is fun regardless, and I always learn some new stuff that might just work for our cars. But that's not why I'm going. It's the sights and sounds.

argh, we'll get ours someday!

I like the Kings. They're such a fuckin' talented team, and their chemistry is outstanding. If the Mavs don't win this series (which seems very likely), Kings will be my second picks...But its only Game 1, so don't walk around thinkin' I've given up hope...Keep hope alive!

I had my first IT job interview today. It was with a law firm specializing in real estate. They offer a lot of online services and have like 13 servers they have to maintain. They also use this huge VB program they wrote that connects to a bunch of databases and pulls specific documents for their clients needs.

The job sounded cool cause they wanted someone that didn't have a lot of experience that they could train to fit with their team. That works for me. And that person would do a bit of everything, programming, networking, maintaining their databases, web design. It sounded great.

The interview went very well I thought. Two of the IT guys sat down and talked to me asking your basic interview questions. We joked around and I thought we had a good comfortable chemistry. But then they wanted to give me a little test. They do all their programming in VB which I hadn't done much with in a while, so they asked me to just sit down and write a quick program to connect to a table in a DB and given a document ID num, I could pull up a Document description. I was freaked out, I know the logic to do that, but I never learned how to combine SQL with VB, and my VB syntax is very rusty. So basically I needed a lot of help to get it working. I was sooo pissed off at myself, I've got so much Java crammed into my head right now since that was the class I just finished, I really need to relearn VB.

But the guys were very cool about it and understanding when I told them I unfortunately hadn't learned that specific part of VB in my class. They even said I'd most likely get a second interview next week, and probably another small test. So I'll be studing VB and SQL for a few days.

Ok, sorry that was so long, that's just all I've been thinking about all day.

I know a guy that works over there, he can't get discounts yet though. I picked up the Sony DSC F707, and Danny has the Canon G2... both are really nice cameras. I need to pick up a smaller camera for better portability, and I was lookin' at the G2... what do you think Danny? would you consider it easy to move aorund?

thanks for all the good wishes guys. I actually got an email today inviting me back next week for a 2nd interview. But he's gonna test me again basically doing the same thing, but with ASP.... so I need some help fellas.

Anyone know some good ASP resources? I learned a tiny bit in my web design class, but not enough for what this guy is gonna want. I've got a week to learn how to access info on a database using ASP. Don't worry, I'm not cheating, he told me what he's gonna test me on to see if I could step up and learn what they want me to know. I think if I do well I may get the job. But right now I fell like I'm gonna have a stroke. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I thought you lived in Arlington Clark?

I love my G2. It great if I just want to point and shoot, or set up a tripod for manual night shots. I really love the closing LCD screen that prevents you from getting finger prints and scratches all over it. It weighs about a pound I guess, but i really never notice it. It is too big for your pocket, but I got a nice little case it fits in and I can carry very easily. It's definitely smaller than an SLR.

But I also really like the new Canon Powershot S50. It's a 5 mp camera with a lot of cool features, but it's smaller, about 9 oz. It runs from ~ $500 - $600.

The Powershot S45 is nice too. It's a 4 mp camera and can be had for $500 or less. It's came out last Dec. and i think the S50 is a bit newer. Here's another review.

for you mantis, since you already have a Sony and some memory sticks. I'd check these out. The Sony Cyber Shot DSC-P92 is a 5 mp camera with 3x zoom at about $500. I couldn't find any professional reviews.

And the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-P10 is very similar. I can't see any difference except this one comes with a larger memory stick and a Lithium Ion battery, while the other has a Nickel Metal Hydride AA battery.

Check out dpreview.com for some good reviews of a lot of cameras and some forums for cameras.

Good Luck Danny on the 2nd interview. I know you will do well. Just remember they need you as bad as you need them. It just doesn't seem that way right now.

Oh ya, Mantis Hope is alive, he will be 100 this month!
