Even at 80mph your still around 2300rpm . . . practically coasting. So compared to stop and go driving you'll rule.

Also, in the winter it takes about 10-15 miles of driving to properly warm up the engine. So in addition to what Casper says, the engine components, oil etc are cold and don't flow as reely. So a double whammy on the mpg.

Want to improve your gas mileage?

Want to pass your emissions test?

Want more power from your gas?

Want to be Green compliant?

Well check this out. I saw this on the news last night and they tested it on a 20yr old Toyota that would not pass the emissions test. Here's what they found out.

"Our On Your Side team hooked up with researchers at North Carolina A&T University to find out if Ethos would help reduce emissions, with the theory being if we reduced emissions we'd also see better gas mileage.

In our 20-mile test using a 20-year-old Toyota, we found the Ethos product dramatically cut emissions. Thus, the assumption is if we're emitting less fuel, we're burning more fuel. And if we're burning more, we're getting better mileage.

Each bottle treats 160 gallons of gas - about 8-12 fillups for most cars. Based on our preliminary findings, we call it a deal"

In addition, they dropped the one rating (Carbon Dioxide I think) from .12 to 0 and the Hydrocarbons (unburnt fuel) from 96 to 12 or so.

That's huge on both parts. That means the car is running cleaner . . more efficiently . . more power . . .

I think I'm in for a try . . pricing below . . anyone else in let me know and we can order the case and save $2.87.

One Pint Bottle (16oz) $19.95 - Treats 160 Gallons of Fuel
Domestic UPS Ground - FREE!
$19.95 per pint

or

Case of 6 Pints (96oz) $95.70 - Treats 960 Gallons of Fuel
Domestic UPS Ground - $6.75
$17.08 per pint

Ok, since Christmas is coming up and it's the season of giving . . I'm going to share one more tip on my times at the track.

Tufoil additive . . . I put it in a week before our last race meet . .

http://www.tufoil.us/products.htm
http://www.tufoil.net/

Okay, it's not a biggie :P and may be hard to quantify, but hey, we are talking about a 14.65 TLS with Icebox and light wheels. But in my opinion every little bit adds up in the end.

Stereo is in--sounds great but I have to figure out the amp: it has crossovers and timing delays by speaker. I am used to bass and trebble...

Also, my second set of wheels came in (Bronze Rota Tarmack II's) for my street tires--just in time for my trip to California!

RUF--if you say it is good, I believe! I just switched to Amsoil 0w-30 in the Subby!

ASSHOLES VANDALIZED MY CAR!!!

My gf and I went out on the town tonight to get a bite to eat and hang out with my friends. We went downtown Fort Worth and spent about 2 hours out. When we came back to the parking lot I noticed that my window on the passanger side was rolled down, and I was like...wait a minute...it's raining and I'm sure I didn't leave my car out to "vent". My heart fucking jumped in my throat. The passanger window was completely knocked in, there was glass all over my leather seats, all over the dash. There were some weird ass scratches on the a/c console, the dash was scratched up and the f-ing clock light doesn't work anymore. My tinted window was laying all the way across the driver side and rain water was all over the door and carpet. I called the cops and my cell phone ran out of batteries right in the middle of the police report. life has a way to kick your ass before christmas eeh? Oh yeah, and guess what...fuckers didn't even take anything, my cell phone was in the middle console and was still there. I had like 50 cd's and they were all accounted for...what the hell were they doing? stealing my stock bose deck? or were they just drunk and thought my silver cl was just too shiny for the parking lot? Anyway, on top of it all...the car was parked right in front of the courthouse!!!! A little ironic, don't ya'll think?
P.S. Where do I go get the crap fixed? dealer?

wtf is wrong with people....

I don't even want to imagine that happening to my car, you have to be infuriated. Will insurance take car of that? If so, then take it to the dealer and get your dash replaced.

Sorry about your car Funkytown. Look on the bright side. They could have ripped off a bunch of stuff the insurance would not replace. I guess they didn't like your taste in music. I couldn't find any blues @#% I mean there must not have been any blues in your collection.
No, realy sorry, I hope the bastards get caught. Sounds like Ft. Worths finest are realy on the ball (in front of the court house)!

Finally!!! Well sort of anyway . . . .

I finally got to run against a GS400 . . I've been waiting almost 2 years to run one. I wasn't quite the run or setting I would have liked, but it will have to do.

The bad news is that I had the wife in the car and my youngest son. The guy had a Gold GS400 with custom wheel and exhuast tips. He was acting like a teenager with a hot car. Riding my @$$ and gunning it a bit. I cleared some traffic to let him pass me as I really didn't want to run him with the wife and kid in the car. So as he pulled up next to me hit stepped on it, but I let him go. Sigh!

However, he hits the redlight and as I pull next to him I think, what the heck, just take him off the line a bit . . he may not suspect me to do that with a wife in the car. We got 3 clear lanes and the wife is worried about getting home to drop my son off with my dad so she doesn't even notice the GS400 or that I got on it a bit more off the light than usual. I think I surprised him a bit too much as I take him by a car length and let off at 50mph. Of course he keeps going and blows past me. :P

Well guess what . . he hits another redlight and the wife still hasn't picked up on what's about to happen.

Looks like he's ready this time as I can see him watching the light and starting to creep forward in anticipation of the green. Well he don't know about the ninja like reaction of a TypeS trottle response. :P

The light changes and I barely beat him on the reaction . . I don't want to over do it with the wife . . so a stealth race if you will. I take him about a 1/4 length in 1st and pull a bit more in 2nd and let off at 60mph. He then goes flying by and never looks back. My son then says, "hey dad, I think that guy was trying to race you." I say yep, look at him go. he says, "man he's really going fast, look where he is already." I say yep, he's really going fast, too fast for this street. :P The wife just comments on the fact that he is going too fast.

Oh well, I did take him to 60mph and probably would have taken him in the 1/4, but I guess I just have to wait a bit longer for a better and safer opportunity.

Nice run Ruf, GS400 's are no slow poke, especially for as big as they are. I like the "stealth" racing, sneaky sneaky sir. Since ya'll took off from a stop I can't believe they couldn't tell you were racing.

Thanks,

and . . .

That's because the wife is used to my "lead-foot", plus she was preoccupied with getting a hold of her sister that had my other son. Normally she was have called me on that. :P

Nice Kill Ruf.

Casper and I had no fun with the struts for my daughters I30. Alot of it was our on falt but Casper persiviered and we got it done. Only problem is I think the strut bearing plates on the front are worne out. The car had this klonking sound before we started and it was still there after we finished. We got to looking around and pushing up and down on the fender when we noticed the top of the strut was hiting the strut tower. It was kind of wobbling around in there. So now I will have to get new strut bearing plates and redo the front struts. Live and learn.

can you say hemi?
HEMI!

hehe. I hate those punks in their LEX-I. Good kill.

I'm taking my car to the insurance company tomorrow. Is there anything that the insurance doesn't cover? Like the dash, seats, anything I should know? I hope I get some money so I can get a big tv for christmas. JK.

I found this in a Hotrod Magazine. They claim it is as accurate as a Dyno. Casper and I used his car and MPH in a 1/4 and it was right on. Any way try it. This is for wheel HP you need the waight of your car with you in it. Your speed at the end of a 1/4 mile and then work through this formula.

WHP=(MPH devided by 234) to the power of 3 X Waight

Check the waight of your car. Do not use gross waight. This includes maximum load in your car. You need the waight of your car the day you set your speed. Did you use the scales at the track? I know Mantis got a reading when he was there. You and him should be close.

The article says that this is fairly accurate for cars under 4,000 lbs running between 9 and 16 sec. ETs. It seems to be closer if you leave out your on waight. That is comparing to my last Dyno and what I would expect. I get 190 which seems a tad high. The artical states that chassis dynos normaly underestimate toque and power. Anyway its a good guess and cheaper than going to a dyno.

I used the scales Bluesman, I always hit them at least once when i race. Although, I don't quite remember them completely accurately. I know one time me and car weighed 3660. But the last time we weighed about 3550. I used both numbers as well as a couple different speeds and lots of combos of them all. The lowest whp # i got was 245.
