Microsoft: Windows 7 and Office 2010 Thread
1. Open iTunes.
2. Choose Store > Deauthorize Computer (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
3. Select "Deauthorize Computer for Apple Account" and enter your Apple ID and password.
Make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations.
Windows 7 launches tomorrow and there are a few special sales going on. Certain Fry's are opening at midnight and giving away free software after rebate. Actually it looks kinda lame. If you go to these stores

you can get these software
• Norton Antivirus 2010, Free
• Nero 9 Reloaded, Free
• Global Protection 2010, Free
• System Mechanic, Free
• Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, Free
• NTI Shadow 4, Free
• McAfee Internet Security 2010, Free
• NTI Media Maker 8 Suite, Free
• Fireman 3.0, Free

Only thing somewhat interesting is Norton 2010 (cause it's actually supposed to be really good) and the Corel Family Pack even though I'm not sure what that is.

Best Buy has much better deals than that crap. They've got this deal where you can get a desktop, monitor, laptop, netbook and router all for $1200 total!
That's the price of ONE mac you can get 3 PCs, a monitor and a router! All 3 PCs are running Windows 7. So if the family needs an upgrade this is a pretty damn good deal, original value is at about $2000! More info here

Also they're offering the Dell Studio XPS 13 for $100 off. That is a nice laptop Starting price is normally $999

Finally Microsoft is opening their first Microsoft Store in Scottsdale and they're supposed to have some lame pop singer Ashley Tisdale there to sing and shit. If you buy a PC at that store you can get Office Home and Student edition for free and a free HP printer. I guess Stogie can go to that event and hangout with a the Scottsdale yuppies.

Download finally finished a couple minutes ago. I told you my internets was slow! It was about 3gb total and was spread amongst 3 files. I ran the exe file which pretty much extracts the content of the other files and creates a folder called "expanded setup". When you open that folder you'll see it looks identical to the contents of the W7 install DVD. So made two copies of it in case something happens and then used "wintoflash" (utility I mention in my software/tip thread) and I'm using the contents of that folder to make a bootable flash drive, I hope it works!
You don't end up with an iso image? That sort of sucks. Newegg sent me my tracking number overnight so it looks like I won't be getting mine until Monday or Tuesday.
For those with business or ultimate, the RTM of Windows XP Mode also appears to be available today.

Future Shop just shipped me a copy...
For iTunes, I don't have any more authorizations left. I heard that after you reach all your allowed authorizations, you can actually get the options to de-authorize all your previous authorizations and start over. Is that true? All my previous authorizations are old installs on the same computer.

Yeah it's designed to download and then run on the system you downloaded to. I think ISO's are to complicated for non techy people for which this program was designed. There was an option for them to ship a disc to you but I passed on that. I was able to use wintoflash and make a bootable flash out of it. It looks like I can perform I clean install too.

also i got the upgrade pack, and i want to change my harddrive to solid state. since i have xp and need to do a clean install can i just pop the new hardrive in and load windows 7 off a DVD with no issues?
sure if you can make an ISO out of a folder. yeah go ahead. I'm gonna try to do that later.
So yeah I'm pretty much doing everything for this party. I'm doing all the demo's since I'm the person that knows the most about W7. Which is good cause my boss is learning stuff from me which is scoring some good points for me! I'll ask for a job after the parties over and he's good and drunk!!!

lol I was going
at the "job" thing you made it sound like you were some smartaleck Mr. Know-it-all punk who hangs out at those places and spouts your knowledge all over the place hoping someone will hire you. hehe

So my bosses love me!
that's good so now I'm trying to get them to hook me up with a W7 Ultimate key. I'll say the party went pretty good, not a lot of people showed up though but those that did enjoyed it. My bosses kept asking me to show them the speed of my SSD. They kept saying "open photoshop, open photoshop!" cause it opens in like a second with an SSD. They were really impressed with it and my knowledge of W7 so I feel good that all this research I've done has paid off! Hopefully now I'll get some more work and when there's anything W7 related they'll just have me do it.
So the MS store opened today and looks exactly like an Apple store!! except for there's this huge display going around the walls of the store. the employees where the same colored t-shirts, etc.

lol that's something to be excited about????? Rofl how can thy so shamelessly ripoff like that?? Reminds me of a status someone had on facebook this week, "name one original idea by Microsoft". Nobody could really think of anything. Lol
I am the fat lady near the front of the line. Wicked incognito.
Well you don't have to do the vista trick anymore. you can do a custom install from an upgrade disc. So you don't have to install it and then install it again. So yeah buy the upgrade disc and save 50% and 75% of your time.
That didn't work with Vista, it would complain on me if I entered my upgrade product key after doing the first install... You're saying now with Win 7 upgrade you can just do a clean install and enter your product key right away? PS. I'll only believe you if you actually did it.
Stick the disk in, boot, select "custom install".
At this point Stunna claims you can just supply your product key, finish the install and that'll be it.
I didn't put a product key in, let it finish, then ran the install again from the desktop, chose custom install, supplied my key, and activated when it was all done.
