What were the "mechanics" of the order? Did it give you the link where you'll go for your download? Did it mention anything specific about when/how you'd receive your product key?
I bet that means I can get Office 2007 for $60 from their website www.theultimatesteal.com

I made a thread about security essentials when it was released on connect. I've been running it since and I'm very happy with it. I think Whiskers and Gfaze have as well along with a few others maybe Moog. I'll update that thread when it goes final.
Wasn't sure if this should be a new thread or not; so figured I'd stick it here.
Windows 7 for $29 for "students" (just need a .edu account). The same company did this for Office 2007 early last year:

this new phoenix UEFI bios (isn't that an oximoron?)boots in just over a second and when you combine this with w7 and an SSD you can have W7 loaded in 10 seconds!!
They say this technology should be available very soon so probably when 7 launches! Maybe the switch from BIOS to EFI will finally happen!check this

yes. no. EFI is the newer alternative to old ass BIOS but since it requires the OS to be EFI compatible (64 bit Vista sp1 and newer) it hasn't been used in the PC world. Actually wasn't EFI designed for the itanium processor? AFAIK there isn't a huge benefit between EFI over BIOS so there isn't a real demand for it. I can't think of a stand-alone desktop motherboard you can buy that is EFI instead of BIOS. But this feature will definitely help speed up the transition.
No, because this isn't a normal version of EFI, this is the new balla version. So on new Macs in the future yes it's possible but on current intel macs, no. Even if it was possible you know Apple wouldn't allow it and make you buy a new one to get it.

Just in case some one else did the previous error. I sent them the email, they canceled my previous order and allowed me to place a new one. So, if you ordered Home Premium, not knowing there was a Professional option, you can indeed reorder.
If you're looking to do it the slightly more honest way, than OEM prices have been announced for W7. Now these OEM discs are full install discs and the require the disc they're installing to be formatted (I guess this version doesn't have the ability to format disks like the other versions) and as with Vista this license cannot be transferred to another PC.

Newegg is offering a discount on top of these prices as well and free shipping if your pre-order before 10/20! Newegg is taking $10 more off of Home Premium, $5 off Professional and $15 off Ultimate.

For you Win7 users Divx has released a little tool that enables mkv support in WMP 12, Media Center, it allows you to natively decode the format using MS media foundation and stream it to other devices like the PS3 or 360. It also provides support for thumbnails in explorer. For more info see here:

History
The original motivation for EFI came during early development of the first Intel-HP Itanium systems in the mid-1990s. PC BIOS limitations (16-bit processor mode, 1 MB addressable space, PC AT hardware dependencies, etc.) were seen as clearly unacceptable for the larger server platforms Itanium was targeting. The effort to address these concerns was initially called Intel Boot Initiative and was later renamed to EFI.[3]
In 2005, the UEFI Forum was created, and is now responsible for EFI development[4] and promotion.
Version 2.1 of the UEFI specification was released on January 7, 2007; as of March 2007. It added cryptography, network authentication, and the User Interface Architecture (Human Interface Infrastructure in UEFI).

I'm in the club now.
I'm quite impressed with the speed. I didn't think I was missing out on much before, but I was wrong. Since I can't wait for XP Compatible mode, I installed Sun VirtualBox and am running XP Home virtually. It has DVD43 and DVD Shrink working quite well for my ripping needs. Plus I needed that virtual image to host my forever install of MS Money.
Now to get my music software installed and get recording.
