I’ve actually been looking for another mechanical keyboard.
while I like the Ducky Mecha Mini 2, I can’t access my BIOS. I keep doing Fn+backspace for delete, and it never works.
i don’t know much about KEEBs, but was considering the GMMK Pro 75% keyboard.
GMMK Pro seems to be a great kit. From what I hear they fixed most of the issues people had from the Group Buy launch. And personally I love that GLORIOUS carve out on the back panel. I personally dont need an F row which is the only reason I didn't get one.
My grail is this guy. Just went into Group Buy. Limited to 500 units.
Checked all my needs; aluminum, no F row, no numb pad, separated arrow keys, 2-4 extra keys, and an encoder knob. I got it in white because most keysets I like look best on white cases.
Back panel even has their logo engraved... but not as cool as the GMMK.
Damn, pretty cool. Didn't know how deep the MK hobby went...wow.
I have some rando 5 year old MK from Razor/Razer that feels clicky but wife says it's too loud.
Are there MKs that feel just as clickly but not very loud with their click sound??
Yes. I am still new to the hobby. There are a few silent options. One example is the silent version of the switches I have in my current keyboard. The Boba U4s https://mkultra.click/gazzew-boba-si...le-u4-switches
Though to get a keyboard with those you'll likely have to build it. But that's not hard at all. The bigger issue is just finding the stuff in stock. The link above as the switches currently in stock. You would also need a keyboard kit which would come with the case, pcb, stabilizers, and a plate if needed as well the keycaps.
If you go with a kit that uses a hotswap PCB you wont need to solder anything. Regular PCBs will require soldering the switches. You can go with the GMMK Pro that Miz mentioned for a good 75% keeb which means it has the arrows and F row. Or you could check out Drop for their instock kits. https://drop.com/mechanical-keyboard.../?sc=keyboards
They have the CTRL which has the arrows and F row like the GMMK. Or the ATL which is a 65% where you get arrows but no F row. All 3 options are hotswap. Just get the kit, plug in all the switches, then top them with a set of keycaps and you have a custom keyboard.
So I decided to try undervolting my 3080 Founders Edition.
saw some guides online and came to trying 1830mhz at 850mV.
Performance wise, its roughly the same. BUTT, my temps dropped by about 6-7º and power usage dropped by about 50W
I could probably optimize that more, but I'm quite happy with that. GPU temps hover around 69º
Not much change in CPU temps (obviously) but it does seem like maybe a 1-2º drop there as well.
I did try undervolting my 5600X with PBO2, but I didnt see much of an improvement. I do still need to fiddle with my settings thou.
Seems things are starting to get better.....at least when it comes to finding stock. Went to Micro Center for a couple things and they had MSI and ASUS 3080 Ti's on the shelf, but man did prices take an upswing. They were $1700 for the MSI and $2100 for the MSI. Makes what I paid for my 3090 FE not seem so bad. There were also AMD cards, but according to their site most of the 6900XT's go for even more than the NVIDIA cards.

hmmmmm... still not making me want to replace my 2070s.
But I am tired of the flashy case and want to build in a smaller case I can put up on a shelf verse on my desk.
3 months later I had the opportunity to get him a:
3060
3070
3070 Ti
"bUt I rEaLlY wAnT a FoUnDeRs EdItIoN 3080"
I had the opportunity to get him a Zotac 3080 but he didn't respond in time and I was dropped from the queue.
I swear this guy is being way too picky and sounds like he isnt even trying himself to get a card.
edit: speaking of Zotac, queue is up. Hopefully they have a 3080. I'm currently 413 in line.
edit2: no 3080. only 3060, 3060 Ti, 3070 Ti and 3090

Sounds like when I try to help anyone in my car group with parts. People are all talk until it is time to open that pocket book.
I got my first GB in. It is a mounted macropad made to mount to your desk, monitor, keyboard, or whatever you want. Had the choice between 3 key, 5 key, or 7 key. All with encoder.
I'll be using mostly while watching streaming shows and youtube so I can slide my keeb away under my monitor. That is what the left skip, right skip, and play/pause are for (right 3 switches).
As well so I dont have to worry about keyboard layers while gaming so I set a screen cap macro and F5 for quicksaving. lol
Overall I am very happy with it. Solid build. Very clean. Encoder feels down right sexual to turn. It came with Cherry MX Reds which aren't horrible. I'll be learning to solder at some point so I can swap these cherry linears out for some nice tactiles.
I can finally turn off these damn stock notifications! Friend was ok with the combo.
Almost missed it too. didnt think i would get it so I didnt check my email LMAO.
I just happened to check because i wanted to clear out the 100+ notifications i received and saw the email.
And to think i originally didnt want to sign up for the combo too!

Great. Need to figure out what’s wrong with my build,
getting random ass restarts, mainly when gaming.
thought maybe I had a bad undervolt, so I set everything back to stock. That didn’t fix it.
opened the case to check the cables. Saw my 24-pin was slightly pooped out. Reseated it, and it worked fine for all of Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Sunday evening it started acting up again.
I think I’ll put back the stock PSU cables and see if that changes anything. But I don’t think it’s the cables because if they were bad, they would be bad from the start right?
maybe failing PSU?
I did check windows event viewer, under critical alerts it gives me a “Kernel-Power” notice.
Yes. The 3060 at launch had a hash rate limiter. But there was a beta driver that was accidentally put out that unlocks the full ETH hash rate.
if that still works, I don’t know.
I spent a while researching these monitors for a client, got to unbox them and play with them for a little bit today. I think I might get one of these for myself, instead of the 4K model.
I'm tempted by the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9.. but my wallet isnt
and at the ultra-wide calculator
OMG yes the Neo G9 would be the one, might wait for it to get cheaper. I just got a 65in Samsung Neo QLED QN90A TV on a labor day sale and it is sooooo good. It's like the first TV to have little if any flaws visually, it does everything. Any TV that's better than it will only be marginally better and may only be noticeable in certain situations.
Each one is equal to two 27in 1440p monitors. Mounting them has been the biggest issue. We're going to stack one on top of each other but normal monitor mounts can't handle them, and TV mounts are too big. They weigh 25lbs each and most monitor mounts max out at 22 lbs (10kg), I found a mount that said it supported up to 31lbs so I thought it would work, nope!
They weigh 25lbs each but because of the curve they are very front-heavy so the weight has a leverage effect that makes 25lbs seem like 40lbs (guess) on the joint that holds the monitor up which causes it to fail. We found a monitor mount that's made specifically for these Samsung 49in wide monitors, so I should be finishing this job next week. The mount was "on-sale" for $350. But it's going to be so dope when it's done. I want him to have a 3rd monitor in portrait orientation too, we'll see how that goes.
The only thing I'm concerned about the Neo G9 is the 1000R curve, I guess that's good for gaming but that might be too much for day-to-day use. I'd like to see it IRL. But mini-LED is awesome! Honestly, it's so good it makes micro-LED seem unnecessary and impractical.

Jesus Christ. Those monitors are wider than my entire desk.
Ive been waiting for sceptre to send me a box so I can send my ultra wide in for repair but they have horrible customer service it would seem. They have attempted twice now to send a box... we are on attempt number 3 now.
I finally taught myself to solder so I can mod my corsair K65. It was just to learn to solder. The K65 is alright for a prebuilt keeb but now that I have a custom and have others planned I dont see myself ever using it again.
It is a 60% case I painted in a minty teal color.
Desoldered all the factory Cherry MX Speed Silvers. Lubed them with Krytox 205g0.
Tuned and lubed the stabilizers with more 205g0, replaced the spar bar stab because the stem looked almost melted in two spots. Must have been a bad mold.
I had one white durock stab left from my TM680 build so I used that. Clipped the rest of the factory stabs as well for a better bottom out feel and more solid thoc.
Added some sound dampening so there would be no case echo and put on the keycaps I dont think I'll ever find a good build for... turned out... well...
The mouse is a Pwnage V2 Ergo wireless. The honeycomb shells are magnetic and easily swapped out for different colors or non honeycomb shells. Im using it in all white with a blue DPI button to match the TM680 I posted before.
Currently waiting on way too many GBs. Next up is the Aozora 65% case which will be getting the Azure Dragon switched I already lubed and probably the Port caps I have sitting around collecting dust.
Oh and I made some changed to the current keeb. New ESC artisan from someone I met in a keeb group. 1st Edition holographic Gary?! Hell yeah!
Also found a decent aluminum knob on Ali express. First Aliexpress purchase and it actually showed up. Plus new mouse.
Next I really need to replace my ugly corsair USB cable. Already got something ordered for that from MechCables.
I rebuilt the computer. checked all the cables. Still had the restarts.
Went back to stock cables. Nope.
Removed any undervolt. Nope.
A few days ago, it randomly restarted just sitting there (i was using my Mac at the time). not even gaming or doing anything and wouldn't boot back in to windows.
Just today, Amazon delivered a brand new Corsair SF750 PSU, 1st game I play and I had a restart.
So I will next try a new mobo because I'm not sure what else to try.
edit: I do see that Gigabyte pushed out a new bios earlier this month. I will try updating the bios and see if that does anything first.
edit2: ok so it looks like my bios version F13g is a BETA version, but was not clearly labeled as a beta on their website. The final F13 version should be up there now according to reddit. So I will flash it to that and pray that fixes it.
edit3: it was also mentioned with the beta bios that Bluetooth would disappear. Which I noticed too when I was trying to connect an Xbox controller to play Forza.

With the undervolt off, those shoot ups to like 77-78° for both.
all fans as far as I can tell are running. But I’m not running it with the case opened as it doesn’t seem like it needs to be.
I may also repaste the CPU because I’m scared I forgot to take off the plastic protector after watching Linus’ recent video

Finished up the ultrawide monitor setup yesterday. We had to get a mount specifically made for these beasts. It costs almost $400 but it works great, it even had us flip the top monitor upside down in order to shrink the bezel in the middle
All of those pixels running off of one USB C cable from the laptop

Jesus bro. Fingers crossed for you. I'd be super sad if I had to trouble shoot my PC as I wouldnt know where to start looking for the issue. But also I didn't build my own PC so I'd contact the company that built it.
I finally ditched the "clone" GMK caps. Went with a new profile to try. These are the XDA profile Happy Planet set from Drop. Only $32.
I still have to swap out the Boba U4T switches for the Gateron Milky Yellows I just finished lubing. Which will finish my "budget" custom build without any clone parts.
$60 case + $17 switches + $9 stabs + $32 caps = $118

Thanks. The bios wasn't the issue either. ugh....
trying now running it with only 1 stick of RAM. and then trying the other if it happens.
If it still happens, then i will try a different graphics card. (thankfully i have one)
last option would be a new motherboard.
I hope its the RAM, gives me an excuse to get Corsair LPX ram and a better air cooler
So glad I didn't get one of those. After 6 months I'd be getting phone calls about burn-in, and apparently, they only last a few years, WTF? And they don't turn on automatically after resuming from sleep. That'd be a support nightmare, they'd be pissed I told them to spend $1200 on one. My only response would be yeah but did you see how black your Bloomberg Terminal was!?

Finished my 4th keyboard.... 3rd still needs work though. And 2 more on the way. Fuck this rabbit hole goes deep.
Corsair K65. Tofu65. TOM680. Epomaker B21.
The Tofu65 is my newest and currently the keeb I'm using in rotation. It has a brass booty and feels like Im typing on glass. It's made of acrylic and it is fucking heavy.
Swapped the caps out and took a better photo in the daylight. This is where the build is going to stay. Really not finding anything I like those maroon, white, and gold caps on. Maybe I'll just sell them and get some money back.
I really like how this case feels and sounds. And I'm happy to be back to tactile switches. Love these Azure Dragons from Gateron. Its a D shape bump but the switch almost starts half way up one side of the D so you get a small bit of resistance then the switch comes down hard. I really like it. Caps are a thinner plastic being single shot pbt. And I like the sound it provides. Very deep but still on the clacky side. Almost poppy.
i ran the system with 1 stick. In each of the slots.
thought it was the ram because it gave me issues with one stick and then no issues with the other. But then during testing I put in the bad ram and it worked fine for a couple weeks.
then over the weekend my system wouldn’t post. So I swapped back in the “good” stick RAM. Booted up fine in both RAM slots.
just for testing I put back in the “bad” stick and the computer booted up fine.
so i think it’s either the mobo or the cpu.
I don’t think CPUs fail that often so I ordered the Asus ROG 550-i for testing.
im about ready to chuck this damn thing in to the trash.
