So unlocked at apple sold out till Oct. Carphone Warehouse has them only on contract. I can sell my 5 for about £400, meaning I would pony up another £250 for the 5s 32GB. Don't want to sell until its actually available. Then not sure if its worth the headache to go from the 5 to 5s. Hate 1st world problems.

 

So I installed the IOS7 on my wifey's old iphone4 (which I am using for the time being)....didnt play with it much but here is my honest thought....

First off I love the new "theme"....I think its much more pleasing and inviting....the color combinations icons just look "fresh"...me likey

The overall experience with the OS is very nice....this is one of the things I like about the Iphone....usually the OS is very inviting....

so far I did not notice any lagging or any slow downs....then again because this is my temp phone, I dont have more than 20 apps on the phone....so am guessing the Os has enough backend memory and hence no slow downs....

am not a biggg facebook/twitter user....I usually just browse and comment....I dont upload a status every time I piss....so am not sure on how things have changed with posting as Mizouse said....

onto the bad parts....I do not like the new notification bar....I used to like the stocks just scrolling uptop and weather info and everything else down below....the new bar, I have to go to ALL and MISSED to see the things which I have missed....but at the same time I kinda like it since the notifications are "sorted" if you will....but I do not see weather in there....

Folders...again I would feel this is a love it or hate it thing....I dont like it since it eats up into my background image....also I wish the icons were a little small (or the screen on the new phone was a little big ) or something different since you get only 9/screen in a folder....I like how they are displayed but I feel if the phone had a home screen then I would not complain....but still A for effort...

Lock screen....I like it....I think they did a great job here....just little changes like the slide to unlock and the font makes me want to reach out to the the phone more....

Camera interface...looks just my Galaxy note/Android....with the big circle down in the bottom....wish there were a little more controls/modes but well, I bet they will be in Iphone5s/5c, but i dont see any in iphone4....

Phone...LOVE IT....love the new color changes....only 1 thing which i disliked....in the recents tab, there is "i" after every damn person in the log....makes it look busy....a small icon like ">" would have looked much better imo....

Messaging....again the new changes just look fresh....

App switching looked nice and fun as well....Same with the tabs on Safari.....


OVERALL: I like the OS changes...the color themes and changes look nice and make the phone very inviting....I still wish it had a lot more features (aint it true with EVERY OS)....but well....

 

Went to BestBuy.

I'm an ATT user, they only had gray in 64GB, ONLY gold (odd) for the 32 GB and no 16GB. Sounded like Verizon had more options and colors.

Everyone in front of me got 64GB ATT 5s' (5 people), as did I. And the dude behind me got one. So they had a decent stock.

There were about 20 or so in line when they opened at 8am. I got there about 6:30. Nice morning. Cup of coffee and caught up on work email.

 

Fingerprint sensor is sweet.

 

Best buy here didn't appear to open early. So I left. I'll try target and hope the dude was wrong...

 

Ok, put an ad up to sell the phone. I hate this.

David, do the BJ/Costco/Sam's near you have cellular in them? Since you have to be a member to shop there, the lines are generally shorter there, maybe better selection too, if they got stock.

I waited in line at Best Buy, I was the first in line, they had 0 gold, 2 32GB Gray ATT 5S, and a few white and gray Verizon 5Ss. I really wanted a White/Silver, but opted for the gray. Its more gray than I thought, so I went for it. Finger printer sensor IS sweet.

Btw Sarlacc, all Best Buys opened at 8 (as far as I know)

 

Whiskers....I did the scroll up but still no weather on the iphone4....

all you get is the power menu (sorry for the Android term), brightness, music control, flashlight/alarm/calculator/camera

 

Wonder why it wouldnt be on the 4. May be added later. Also found a bug where you cant resize wallpaper (can move them)

OK...so from driving around a little this morning pissing time away.

ATT stores had shorter lines...only have grey (I could have got one, but decided to stick to silver)

Target...dont have their stock yet...mobile people dont show up til 11am.

Best Buys...short lines...not opening until 10am.

Radio Shack...no one got their stock yet...they are taking reservations, I left my name at one.

BUT...I just called to come in ASAP to fill in on Grey's Anatomy...which I never worked on and I dont know who recommended me...but work is work...so, my iphone hunting for the day is over...guess I'll try and be patient and stick to my pre-order.

Okay, I think I got it.

For those with the missing weather reports in Notification Center:

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Weather (ON)

Now back out to the General Settings...

Notification Center > Today View (ON) > Today Summary (ON)

It has enabled mine but it shows it only as a text, no pictures like in iOS 6.

I updated my mom's iPhone 4 to ios 7 and I am torn on it. I think I am gonna keep ios 6 for a bit longer on my 4s.
