I was cooking a couple days ago and using the iPhone as a timer for my rice. Somehow I got a drop of olive oil right on the earpiece speaker and now it's a lot quieter. It has to be a quiet room to hear the other person.

This is how I feel when I'm on the phone now

^ I should say it wasn't the update that messed up the newsstand thing. It was the fact that I synced my phone to a new computer and it moved the placement of the apps all around. The new iOS just won't let you move the newsstand into a folder like the previous versions.

$10 real timer easier to replace than iPhone.

Either my eyes are going bad, or the backlight on my 4 is going dark.

Before i used to be able to use the brightness setting at 25% indoors, now i need to crank it to a little past half. Outdoors I have to use 100% no matter what. Even in shade.

for a new iPhone a WWDC. But I doubt it.

While I like the looks of a bigger screen, my droid razor made me miss the iPhone size. Too big and you have to use both hands to type and they start to become hard to hold, not to mention both my razrs cracked in my front pocket due to being so wide and thin.

Every new iPhone has rumors of a bigger screen but it has never changed since it came out in 2007 but we shall see. While again I like the current screen, I think they have to go bigger to set it apart from the older iPhones and sell more.

Ya brah, part of me misses the 4.3" screen of my Evo, except when I'm going out and have my phone, breathmints, wallet, keys, pepper spray all packed in my skinny jeans. Then I appreciate the compact size of the 4S.

One of my patients had the Galaxy Note, that shit is huge! Must be a bitch in your pocket when you are sitting down or driving.

I've noticed mine does that too. It always dims when I use my traffic app to and from work. Even when I click out of the app back to my home screen the home screen remains dim. It only turns back to normal brightness if I hit the lock button then unlock it.

(Newser) – IBM has banned employees from using Siri on its network, because it doesn't trust the iPhone digital assistant. On Monday, IBM's CIO told the MIT Technology Review that though employees are free to use their personal iPhone at work, it was having problems with apps posing security risks. She said Siri in particular was off-limits because they're "worried that the spoken queries might be stored somewhere."

It's a valid concern. Peer into the iPhone's licensing agreement, and it specifically states that Siri queries are "recorded and sent to Apple" so they can be converted into text, Wired reports. Moreover, the agreement states that by using Siri you consent to Apple's "use of this information" to improve Apple products and services. Apple hasn't specified what that "use" might entail, or how long Siri queries might be stored.

I didn't bother to upgrade to 5.1 since my 3G indicator is tweaked to show signal strength instead so I won't see the fake 4G indicator. Any reason I should upgrade?

Only reason to upgrade is if you want Iphoto on the phone / pad.

New mini dock connector? Now I have to buy a new cable for my car hook-up?

An adapter would just look stupid since I already have an adapter to convert the current from 3V to 5V so it charges during playback.

Yes, and they showed no changed compared to the rumored teardrop design.

Btw rumors of the screen height and size put the aspect ratio just a pixel or 2 narrower than 16:9

Which panned out as being right since the 4S looks the same as the 4.

No way those cases are legit. No way!

I agree the dock connector thing sucks. But that also saves a lot of room.

I glady accept the headphone jack being on the bottom...

I think it will depend on how Apple treats old apps and new apps and what they expect the extra space to be used for.

If they are going to reserve the extra space for say a widget bar and force older iOS apps to not go full screen and if you want full screen you have to update your application. Just a hypothetical scenario. I'm very interested to see what happens with this.

Afaik, it's just taller. The width stays the same as the current iPhone. And from what I've been reading from comments from app developers its not hard at all the program apps to be taller. Because as they are right now the height is already variable because you're just scrolling anyways.

Games and stuff like that I would think would have to be adjusted thou.

I would opt for better internals over bigger screen. A more power efficient quad core would be pretty sick. 4" screen is old news to the android community.
