Yea I’m considering moving up to the stainless steel for the same reasons.
I plan to keep it as long as I’ve had my series 3, so maybe series 13?
for me thou it’s a bit tougher choice because the 45mm is $749 and the Ultra is $799
i went to the Apple store thinking they had the Ultra on display but nope it’ll be on display starting Friday
But I think I’m set on the SS because it’s already to me a chonker over my series 3.
AirPods Pro 2 are legit. Really good noise cancellation, transparency seems better too, and the ability to adjust the volume on the stems is also nice. The case beeps when you connect the charger, it can charge with the Apple watch charger. I was riding my Onewheel along the sidewalk and for better or worse I couldn't hear any car traffic over the music on the busy road next to me, also wind noise is significantly reduced. Noise cancellation is so good I want to be able to dial it back a little. That'll probably come in an update someday.
Apple introduces the powerful next-generation Apple TV 4K
The strongest Apple TV yet features the A15 Bionic chip, adds HDR10+, and brings the best of Apple to the biggest screen in the home — all at a new starting price
the new apple tv 4k is available in two configurations: Apple tv 4k (wi-fi), which offers 64gb of storage; and apple tv 4k (wi-fi + ethernet), which offers support for gigabit ethernet for fast networking and streaming, thread mesh networking protocol to connect even more smart home accessories, and twice the storage for apps and games (128gb)
Has anyone else's Apple Watch tapped their wrist every few minutes but there's no notification? This isn't a phantom tap where you think it did it but it didn't actually, these are taps that I've been getting for months now, it appeared during the WatchOS 9 beta but haven't gone away. It's done it while my watch is charging, and it vibrates my desk. It feels like you're getting a text but there's no notification, and it happens 3-4 times per hour.
iMacs with a Fusion Drive were a disaster. I hate dealing with them. Every one that I've dealt with is super slow because of the drive. I've worked on 5 of them now, and all of them have had the same slowness issue. If you're in the market for a used imac pass on the 2017 imac. It's like the drive is somehow worse than a standard HDD.
In a few cases I've swapped the HDD with an SSD and that's always fixed it, but the iMacs are glued together so you have to unglue the screen to get to the drive. Apple really went wild on design from 2015-2020. Fuck repairability, fuck function, extreme thinness is all that matters.
Also make sure you enable TRIM on a 3rd party SSDs you install, blackmagic speedtest was 3-4x better after enabling TRIM on a 3rd party SSD
Mac Mini with a M Pro chip and HDMI 2.1 is what I’ve been waiting for.
but the cheapass in me wants to see if the next update to Ventura will allow HDMI 2.1 to work properly via a Thunderbolt/USBC to HDMI 2.1 adapter.
It should work but macOS limited it to 4K 60hz and with my 2018 mini it works in bootcamp
annoyingly the Mac Mini spec I want gets awfully close in price to a Mac Studio.
For video editors, it looks like the M2 Max may have got a downgrade over the M1 Max.
The M1 Max had 2 video decode and 2 ProRes encode/decode engines. The M2 Max only has 1 each.
ugh so I think my replacements are going bad as well.
For my right one, I get a very faint clicking and static noise. Also the ANC cuts in and out sometimes. After a couple minutes tho it starts working again.

While I was at the Apple Store I did notice quite a lot of people there with issues with their APP. Seemed to be approx. 6 others during the 45 minutes i was there. 1 other person with regular airpods and i overheard they were denied replacement because they couldnt replicate their issue.
Ok so I daily drive the AppleTV but my Samsung TV has all the same apps now. I've noticed that the Youtube app looks worse on the AppleTV than it does on my Samsung TV. Specifically dark areas or blacks, but colors look washed out or low contrast.
I like to get high and watch videos about space and those look like shit on the AppleTV. It like it's running in limitied color space 16-255 instead of 0-255. I figured it Google hobbling the app or Apple not supporting Google's prefered video codec and so the customer had to suffer, classic.
But I was watching some video about secret tricks you could do with the AppleTV and the guy mentioned in passing that if you don't turn on match dynamic range in settings then it converts SDR content into "HDR" and that can cause issues especially in dark scenes. So I turn on match dynamic range and now the youtube app looks much better, blacks are 0 black not 16 black, and all the other colors look less washed out, much more contrast.
The downside for me at least is that the video cuts out for a few seconds everytime the appletiv switches from HDR to SDR. So the youtube app menu is in HDR but once I choose a video the screen goes black for a few seconds as the DR switches, the audio of the video plays but no image for the first 3 seconds, and then the same thing happens when I switch out of the video. IDK if this is normal or caused by some crapiness in AppleTV, AV receiver, TV, or all of the above. But either way the Youtube app on the AppleTV looks just as good as the Samsung app now.
I think so, you can turn off dolby atmos in the music app settings
Thanks, I think this fixed me up. When I listen to music I like to go old school 2 channel, I hate that older stuff has been remixed for surround sound.
I got the doughnut t-shirt from there when the visitor center first opened as a souvenir. I told my wife that she has everything made by Apple, so why not get an Apple t-shirt.
