Apple: Hardware News and Discussion Thread
The current mac minis can be i7's with a lot of ram and a SSD. Fast enough for most. But since they are old i7s I believe they are stuck with Intel 4000 for graphics. Which blows.
SSD being important as the default 1TB drives are slow 5400 rpms.
I believe a Haswell mini update has been rumored to be right around the corner. If they put Iris Pro 5200's in a new mini they will be pretty nice.

Totally different ball game now. We aren't bloating software anymore, we are shrinking their demands down. Plus it's not even the same kind of argument...512MB-1GB vs 16GB-32GB. Lol
Run AM for a while and tell me what max ram used is over say a week. Bet it doesn't top 5GB.

New entry level iMac for $1,099
The new entry-level 21.5-inch iMac comes with a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel i5 processor, a 500GB hard drive, 8GB of memory, and an Intel HD 5000 Graphics chip for $1,099. Customers can also choose to include a 1TB hard drive, a 1TB Fusion Drive, or 256GB of flash storage on build to order options. All of Apple's other 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs are still available as well.
Here's a better one for $1000?

I like that they have added this entry level mac. I think the price point of the previous iMac's deterred people from purchasing an Apple computer. This new configuration should lure more people to the dark side. :vader:
Question about the new 13"MBP...
1. There is no RJ45, correct? best i can get is a USB-Eth adapter that gives me 10/100?
2. I cannot upgrade the HDD with an off the shelf SSD drive?

Correct, they sell a thunderbolt to ethernet too don't waste a usb port.
It's a PCIe SSD so no sata drives, but even then it's a proprietary version so a standard PCIe SSD won't work either. Though there are a couple companies that are trying to make compatible SSDs.
Oh and you can't upgrade the RAM either, it's soldered on
