So I got tired of having two Macbooks (2012 15 inch pro R and 2012 13inch Air). Sold them both and got a 2013 13inch Retina, upgraded to i7, 8GB and 512GB. I then bought the new Airport Extreme. So far so good. I still have £600 left over. I think it was smart. Testing out Wireless AC now.
I built the following Hackintosh recently..
- GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC LGA 1150
- Intel Core i5-4570 Haswell 3.2GHz
- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB)
- GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 650 1GB
- (2) Intel 335 Series Jay Crest 180GB SSD's
And put it all into this: http://www.nzxt.com/uploads/product_...phantom_02.jpg
Cost me just over $1000, Mavericks works perfectly!

With the two monitors I don't think I necessarily needed it, but I liked the idea that I could plug my headphones into it without having to disconnect them every time I take my computer home. In addition, the added USB 3.0 ports come in handy as well since the monitors only provide USB 2.0 ports.

I totally understand. Now that I have this setup at work, it makes my machines at home feel like they are from the stoneage.
Only takes about 30 seconds (or less) for this new machine to boot and I can be working immediately. My home machines, not so much. We're talking about at least 10-15 minutes a day in wasted time just waiting for my iMac or MBP at home to boot.

Question about the dock. Can I use a minidisplay port to HDMI adapter on each TB port and have it work with non TB monitors while keeping all the native mavericks support? My bro has been looking for something like this for awhile now.
I doubt the dock would have the TB ports also Minidisplay. I think the MB's have something special in them to do that. He's probably looking for something like this: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/pr...o/displayport/
So I finally bootcamped my iMac last night and installed Windows 8.1. Hate it already. Anyway...
The reason for doing this was to play a game and to see if Windows would give me a FPS boost over the Mac equivalent. I've read that if I'm getting 100FPS in OSX I should get 150FPS in Windows. First impressions...it's worse.
But! I did install the latest beta version of ATI catalyst drivers. Should I have kept the bootcamp drivers? Anyone have experience with this?

I wish they sold the iMac but without the attached monitor. I already have a good monitor.
The Mac mini is too slow for what I do.
And the Mac Pro is too much for what I do.
