When you get swype you will wish you did. ALthough I dunno how the Note 3 is it swype for people with an avg sized hand.

Finally I can get photospheres on my phone!!! GOing to try the camera out soon, I hope it doesnt lack in quality though with their software. If anything I'll just use it for photospheres haha

This really should go under the Chromecast thread but I didn't want to resurrect that thread.

For the people who want to stream videos from their computers without needing to setup a Plex server, there's a new Chrome extension that'll transcode pretty much any video format from your computer and cast it to a Chromecast:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...okfelagl?hl=en

App to control the stream on your phone:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ostream.Mobile

You install the extension and from the tab you can select which video you want to cast. Its been working on all the movies I tried so far including mkvs and it looks pretty good too.

Does Hangouts do a popup when a text comes in (like Go SMS Pro) or do I have to enter the app when I reply?

It supported both SMS and Hangouts but created separate threads. Today's update unifies both SMS and Hangouts into one thread. The only thing left to do is automatically pick hangouts vs. sms depending on people's usage of either service kinda like iMessage. The other option would be to sync SMS onto Hangouts so you can just go where you left off on any Android device...

I'm not sure how it transcodes but its worked on all the mkvs I've tried and some of them I had a difficult time playing on my Android devices (missing audio, doesn't play, etc.)

^The only thing not working is mark as read for Hangouts. It pops up and you can reply in the small popup window without having to go into the app. I'm sure there's other alternatives as well.

All nonsense right now. I assume, like all previous notes, it will inherit all the S5 features. The samsung head did say that there would be a "new form factor" but who knows what that means.

After using it for a while, I'm rather ho hum over my oppo N1.

The 'new features' are very limited, so that's overall been a dissapointment.

The bluetooth key dongle (o-click) was just too flaky in terms of connection, so that's just unreliable. (although my pebble connection is rock solid, so that's kind of weird)

I do really like gestures that work while the screen is off - knock to wake, change music track. My next phone will definitely have this. I was really hoping I could make "custom" "screen off" gestures, but alas, it was not to be.

I can't have a big enough screen. N1 is barely pocketable, even with it's enlarged length. But I could totally lose the rotating camera/capaticitive buttons, and go with a bigger screen. (which means a wider phone, but that's fine).

I just don't like taking pictures with cell phone cameras. So the rotating camera is kind of useless for me. I found the rotating flash(light) to be quite nice tho.

Build quality is solid as a rock. Kind of nice, but makes little difference for me for day to day. So I can lose it.

I was skeptical at first, but I can (still) live without replaceable battery (if it's big enough!), notification light (the smartwatch is MUCH better). I do miss having microsd for backups.

I'm really really hoping Lastpass can support phone fingerprint sensors the same way they support laptop fingerprint sensors. If they did, i'd buy that phone in a heartbeat.

Yea I'm definitely gonna look at my options for large screen phones when it's time to renew my contract. Even if it means waiting up to 3 months max.

Yeah I had that app before and my beef was the mark as read thing which they seem to have resolved with stock messaging.

Definitely better real estate usage on their notification screen than my Note 2 with Android 4.3. Plus the favorite contacts widget is much smaller than the ridiculously large one on my phone.

The top widget in the first screen is supposed to be like Google Now concierge style.

That top widget is cool, the rest I'm alright with. I'm not a fan of having apps in my notification pane. Otherwise it looks good. Everything is very round haha. I like the colors.

Here it is compared to Note 3. Slimmer, but taller. This phone looks like the same size as the HTC One (M8), but better everywhere except no front speakers.

Yeah, I was hoping for it to be smaller
But that price is so tempting!
Maybe I'll see if I can get one for free. Also hoping that the 2014 Moto X will be so good that I will get it. Would love for the Nexus smart dialer to be on the Moto X, unless the new Nexus will be more 1-hand friendly.
Tired of giant phones ala this sentiment http://www.droid-life.com/2014/04/22...s-smartphones/

Looks really nice. A bit too large for me though.

4.7-5.0 is my sweet spot.

People keep quoting screen size as their phone size preference when they really should be quoting the actual phone size.

I know, but Chinese press releases aren't always the best when translated

The upcoming Amazon Fire OS (based on Android) phone that will actually have 6 lenses throughout the phone lol.

Really interested in the One Plus One right now. $350 for 64 GB is not bad at all. Gonna wait a few weeks to see how the build quality is before committing. The phone has great specs all around there has to be something they cheaped out on. Either that or they're really serious about this thing.

The leaked LG G3 looks pretty damn good too with the minimal bezel. Not really a fan of their UI even the revamped one though. HTC, Sony and Motorola have the best skin right now. The rest need to stop bloating up Android unnecessarily.

I believe OnePlus can just get away with selling it for a lower profit in exchange for market presence and hype.

What G3 leak? There hasn't been an actual leak of the phone's body yet. Only speculation. I actually think the new LG UI is better than, or at least similar to HTC in terms of deviation from stock. At least LG so far allows you to customize a bit of their UI if you don't want to go full 3rd party launcher mode.

.
This is very true. Thats why the Moto X with a 4.7" screen phone and thin bezels is perfect. Its just a tad bit bigger than the iphone and sports a much much larger screen.

I love it.

Motorola won me over for sure with this thing. My battery life has taken a toll recently, but its gonna be some app. My OS is the thing thats mostly draining my battery, but I know its some app because it hasnt always been like this.

I'm thinking Tasker??
