Yep Verizon killed the Nexus program which is why they aren't getting any more Nexus devices in the near future. If I were you, I'd just install CM 10.1 on there. So many features that stock AOSP doesn't have like the custom Quick Tiles.

I also just found out that in CM 10.1, if you enable "Maximize Widgets" on the lockscreen, you can press and hold on the padlock and it'll unlock the phone. My mind has been blown. I was complaining about this feature needing two swipes to unlock and I just found out that you can press and hold to unlock with the Widget in its full feature. Its almost the same feeling I had when I realized you can uninstall apps from the Trebuchet launcher by simply holding the app icon over the "X" and it'll become an uninstall function. Prior to that I was going to the App info and uninstalling that way.

Really? I see 10.1 builds off CyanogenMod's site.

http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?dev...t&type=nightly

Looks like 10.1 Nightlies just began a few days ago. Might want to check that out. Not sure what's broken but it is a Nightly for a reason.

^Most, if not everything, will probably work fine. You'll probably see a hit in the battery though as I'm guessing they don't and probably never will get the proper RIL sources for non-Nexus devices.

I just found out that if you have an app that requires Accessibility settings, Hotword detection automatically becomes disabled. I have Voice Notify installed on my Nexus so it reads off my SMS and incoming notifications when I'm driving. Unfortunately, enabling it in the Accessibility settings as required, cancels out Hotword detection in Google Now. Seems to be a feature rather than a bug so its something to keep in mind if Google Now won't detect you saying "Google" to activate it in the future.

Here's Voice Notify by the way. Has a few settings and works pretty great. I have it set to work only when it detects a headset being plugged in. (Bluetooth and a headphone) Otherwise it doesn't read out the notifications to me:

i still have yet to try out driving mode on the GS3, i dont need to enable the accessibility settings i think?? I just have that option in the pull down menu so i just need to click on it and it should read out incoming caller ID's and texts. I believe.

Definitely do a full wipe. Also, don't forget to install GApps. Latest from Goo-IM is 12/12. Restore only the data for the regular apps in Titanium Backup. Some exceptions to this include the SMS/MMS data and a few others but try to avoid restoring system data to avoid any problems. If you get a Status 7 error when trying to flash CM10.1, it probably means you need to update your Recovery if you haven't done so in a while. TWRP is pretty lenient about this error more than CWM so if you want you can install TWRP before you try to flash. Also, backup everything you have and remove them from both the internal and external before you do any of the above just in case it does a full wipe beforehand.

You just have to recreate the MD5. Your backups are stilll good to use. You will need to open up terminal on your phone and follow the instructions below:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714114

If you have ADB installed on your computer, you can also do it on your computer opening a command prompt and following the same steps. You're basically deleting the corrupted MD5 and then recreating a new one. Very quick and easy. Sometimes Nandroid doesn't create a proper MD5 but your data should still be intact any way.

Dash Clock Widget got updated. Fixes the complaints I had with it. The unread SMS message, change how far ahead in the calendar to look for events (wish we could choose which calendars to populate like in Chronos though) and he put back the lockscreen Bold Hour : Regular Minutes layout which I've become accustomed to since 4.2. A few other fixes on there as well. I can see this becoming the default lockscreen for Key Lime Pie. Looks and works great and very functional too.

Anyone actually gotten their Google Now to show the movies card at all?

I've ticked and unticked the "show on movie days/days when you search for movies", and still I've never seen a movie card ever. And this is with me searching for new movies every week. I love the new Rotten Tomatoes ratings being included in the card......would just be nice if I could actually get the card to show up.

It showed up before for me when I was looking up The Hobbit times. I'm not sure how it works but it may have something to do with your location, day of the week you normally watch a movie and movie you're looking for. I was next to the mall on a weekend as I was trying to see movie times and reviews and it popped up then along with info for other movies that were out.

It may get an update but most likely not. The Nexus has been removed from Verizon's system for a few months now and when Verizon does that it usually means no more support. (BTW if you have a Verizon store near you, they're supposedly selling the Nexus accessories for cheap. This includes the docks and cases.) One of the Android blogs wrote up an article the other day saying that the Verizon Nexus is already 4 updates behind. The Sprint Nexus got an update recently to 4.1.2 I believe but that's one more than the Verizon version. With that said, it is a Nexus phone and its very easy to update it yourself if you really want to. I'm guessing at the minimum, it'll get security updates from this point on.

^ Crazy Googlers. Sometimes I wonder how they get work done over there.

Anyone see that Google Now has today's Google Doodle? I wonder how often they're going to take over that banner. Maybe they'll make it interactive in the future too. It beats the generic looking banners they have here for LA. I wonder why they don't have any special ones for us. When I was in Vegas, they had some cool banners that changed depending on the type of day. Also, as a side note, it was great that Google Maps had indoor maps of the hotels. Really useful feature.

The reason why Google have recreation rooms and cafeteria like that is to maximize the staying time of the employees at the work place. When you have amenities like that, it's hard to be anywhere but work!

So there will be an Xperia Z version with AT&T LTE bands after all...

http://playstation.com/psm/certified.html

Xperia Z C6602/C6603/C6606/SO-02E
The C6606 will have compatible LTE bands for AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers and Wind. The C6602 is what Handtec, Clove and all the other international stores are selling right now and that one doesn't have the right LTE bands. No announcement has been made as to when the C6606 version will be available yet.

None of the carriers will be picking up though so it won't be available on contract and it won't be subsidized. Sony will probably sell it upfront at their stores for full price.

Actually, LA does have it's own banner. It's got the Hollywood sign and lights and jazz. Might just be restricted to certain areas near Hollywood though. Not sure.

In other news, ORBs will be in my hands tomorrow Can't wait!

Full retail price for the Xperia Z? I'm guessing $800. Only if it came in a Nexus version For me, that Z is the best looking phone to date.

Really? Wth. I was at my girlfriend's place over the weekend and I had the generic one. She lives in K-Town so she's not that far from Hollywood which is like 15 mins away. Maybe they just started rolling it out. I'll have to check it out this weekend again. Lol.

Right now the C6602 version is going for around $650 shipped at Handtec plus conversion fees. (Can be waived if you use a Capital One credit card) I'm guessing if Sony does sell it, it'll be around 700-800. They're only coming out with a 16GB version and you can expand on it with a MicroSD Card up to 64 GB. The plus side of it being sold by Sony would be that there would be no carrier bloatware and the bootloader would be easily unlockable. Sony has already released all the source code and everything needed to build a custom ROM before the phone has been officially released which is great news for devs.

I have a question about the Nexus Orb charger. Does the Orb stop sucking power if the phone isn't on it?

If I had to guess, it probably acts like a regular adapter. Adapters don't push current, your phone pulls current from it which is why it doesn't matter how many amps the adapter is capable of transmitting. So if nothing is on the charger there isn't anything there to pull any current from the adapter.

Now this is cool! Sony Xperia Z in a pool:

Every time I see a video or article about this phone it has me flip flopping on whether I want it or not. The video quality is pretty good too. This could be so useful when snorkeling or the like although I wonder how it would fare in the salty ocean vs. a chlorinated pool.
