Android: Phone News and Discussion Thread
Lol. Yeah. Pure marketing as always the case with Apple since these phones have been using the same sensors and never publicized it. The commenter explained why the iPhone didn't fare as well even though it uses the same stuff:
One thing the writers never mention about Android phones is their capability to use different light intensity when using flash. When iPhone uses flash, the intensity appears to aways be the same. It always seems to over-conpensate for whites.
It would be cool if the writer would take a picture in complete darkness. I notice cameras with dual LED flash can take very good picks in complete darkness, where the iPhone cannot.

For an 6 month old device the S II holds its own. Makes me want a white Galaxy S II. I guess I'll decide after the ICS announcement tomorrow.

More details about the build name and model:
For the people wanting to know the GPU benchmarks (unofficial): http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedeta...group=lowlevel
You can compare the GPU in the compare button with the other phones in the link above. In short:
4S > Galaxy S II > 4 > Galaxy Nexus
At least that's what the unoffical benchmarks of the Galaxy Nexus say. Its kinda hard to compare between iOS and Android as they use the GPU a little differently but then again most people won't even know the difference unless they did do a benchmark themselves.
Side note: I like how they named it internally Yakju which is refined rice wine in Korean. The Galaxy S line is called Soju which is rice wine in Korean.

Lol. Personally, I think the differences between them is so small that you couldn't really tell which shot was made by which phone. It shouldn't be touted as a feature though considering they made such a big deal about it. Then again, I guess I shouldn't be surprised as to why they were making a big deal about it. Besides Siri, they really didn't have much else to talk about.
Holy crap the Droid RAZR is only 7.1 mm thin??? Galaxy S II is 8.5 mm and the 4S is 9.3 mm. How did they manage to pack all that stuff in there:
http://lockerz.com/s/148224234
It'll also have a 4.3" qHD SuperAMOLED display.

In fact, being near one brings you that much closer to divinity...
The rest of us? Heretics.
Homescreen --> Menu --> Settings --> Applications --> Manage Apps --> All Tab --> Market --> Clear Data.
Open up Market again and it should ask you to accept terms and agreement.
Also do the same for your apps that are force closing. Just clear the cache not data unless you don't need whatever was saved in that app (i.e. game saves, etc.)
Yea Motorolla def has top of the line hardware. Stainless steel internal, Kevlar back! Gorilla glass, and its splash resistant.
I'm not reading those leaked things on the Galaxy Nexus (GN?)
I'm waiting till tonight!
Ohh and that Motorolla ACTV? The watch thing is pretty impressive. Copied the nano, but improved on it.

Try clearing your data/cache:

That worked Thanks!!

Figures. Hopefully, Motorola will stop that crap in the future.

So here are the specs and features for the MOTOACTV, Motorola's answer for getting us all in better shape.

It also runs Android (no word on what version, but probably doesn't matter here) and was stated to have a 600mhz processor.
Speaking of the Bionic:
http://www.acsyndicate.net/verizon-m...f-the-shelves/
“At this time the Verizon Motorola Droid Bionic is unsellable in stores and has been removed. Please remove the Tag and Dummy from display to help avoid customer inquiries or service issues. When further details are available, we will update this Bulletin.”
I didn't get to see the live stream. Just been following it on the blogs. Seems like a lot of features. Liking the way it looks. SDK just dropped so I'm sure we'll get some bootlegged ports tomorrow at the earliest. Can't wait for CM 9!
The camera sounds interesting:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/i...lery-features/
It's been a long time coming, but with the introduction of Ice Cream Sandwich, Android finally takes a significant leap forward in terms of camera and gallery features. The camera interface is completely new -- it's faster and easier to use with instant access from the lock screen. Shots are taken immediately thanks to zero shutter lag and continuous autofocus with face detection. Touch-to-focus with exposure lock is now supported, and the UI adds a proper digital zoom slider.
The gallery app is also significantly improved, with Instagram-like "hipster filters" and a built-in photo editor that lets you crop and rotate pictures at arbitrary angles. Any tweaks you make are saved as a separate file, keeping the original shot intact.

Oh wtf, I didn't know you can toss notifications to the side with CM7! I always used the clear button. Just swipe it to the right like in ICS. I really need to go through the changelog to see all of Cyanogenmod's features. lol.
