It depends on which processor they'll be using on the Prime which no one really knows yet. Right now, the word is that it'll be using a dual core 1.2 GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor which originally clocks in at 1.5 GHz. Google is probably going to downclock it to 1.2 GHz for better battery savings but that can be easily overclocked, if needed, with a proper kernel if it really is originally 1.5 GHz.

There is another rumor saying that the Prime will run an Exynos dual core 1.5 GHz and PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU. If it comes with the Exynos then The GPU on the Exynos is top of the line in the Android world. However, this sounds more like the Galaxy S 3 than the Nexus Prime so I don't think they'll be using it but I'd be glad if they did.

The S II on T-Mobile is using a Qualcomm Dual Core 1.5 GHz which is comparable to the 1.2 GHz TI OMAP. In other words, don't mind the GHz difference (in actuality, the TI OMAP might be slightly faster but its almost negligible). Also, anything above 1 GHz is more than enough for Android. GPU wise, they should be similar as well. If it was the other variants of the Galaxy S II, then those would win in the GPU benchmarks by a little because they're using an ARM MALI-400 GPU.

Specs of the Nexus Prime?:

Only a 5MP camera? I think it will have at least an 8MP with a front facing camera as well.

I'm passing over on the Bionic for this thing, the extra months wait better be worth it!

Going to be announced on the 18th:

We can finally stop guessing when Ice Cream Sandwich will be revealed to the world in all its glory as Google and Samsung just announced the event would be happening in Hong Kong, October 19th at 10 a.m. HKT, which corresponds to 10 p.m. October 18th EST. As before, the live stream will be available at

Yea I'm with you, it should have a 8mp camera. My NS has a 5 megapixel. Although I'm sure the quality is still improved, its bad for marketing too, for Google's sake.

You guys do realize that megapixels don't mean anything on a camera, right? It could be a 2 megapixel camera for all I care, but if it has an upgraded sensor and lens that takes magnificent pictures, then it's all good.

Megapixels just mean how big the picture will be. Don't fall trap to the same megapixel war the Digital Camera industry had last decade.

Megapixels aren't everything when it comes to pictures. Its the sensors. Just compare the original Evo's 8 MP camera to the iPhone 4's 5 MP camera and you can definitely see how crappy the Evo's pictures are. On the other hand, I don't see why people are getting all worked up over a phone's camera. People crappify them with Instagram filters for the most part any way.

^I used to use it. More specifically, the car mode it had. Instead of adding a widget, you add a shortcut --> Vlingo Car Mode. Not sure if its the same these days. Its a bit better than the Car Mode that comes in Vanilla Android.

Yes i have been on my EVO 4g for the last year. It's very similar to what the iPhone 4S's virtual assistant does.

I use Vlingo. It works best for me when I need to call someone when I am too lazy or can't dial the number, and also in car mode before I got my TSX bluetooth thing set up.

Voice commands are great but really not used that much.

Here's a tip for optimizing RAM and memory for all Android phones, tablets.

Just upgraded my HTC Ion to CM 7.1. Works pretty well with some tweaks I made.

I posted a RAM tweak by Juwe a few pages back that helped optimize the way Android handled RAM and memory. I want to follow it up with a different RAM tweak called Kickass Kernel Supercharger from here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=1127

Current Version: V6 SuperCharger Update 9 Beta 6.3 (In the link above it has a ".pdf" ending, you have to rename the file and remove the ".pdf" and make sure it has a ".sh" at the end)

This method is not too complicated if you follow along but the reason I'm posting it is because it tweaks the way your phone handles RAM and memory. It helps get rid of the annoying home screen refreshing after running out of memory and help with keeping things open in the background for multitaskers like myself. ***You will need root to use this tweak.***

Instructions:
1. For Cyanogenmod users, disable "Lock Home screen into Memory" found in the Cyanogenmod settings. This step also applies for people using custom launchers such as ADW, LauncherPro and MIUI's launcher.

2. Download the app Script Manager from the market :

https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

3. Copy the "V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-update9_beta_6.3.sh" anywhere in your SD Card.

4. Open up Script Manager and navigate to the "V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-update9_beta_6.3.sh" and click on it.

5. Check "Run Root" box and hit Run (It'll most likely prompt you for root permissions. Just hit allow.)

6. It'll ask you what scrolling speed you want. Tap anywhere on the screen to bring up the keyboard. I normally pick "2" and hit enter on the keyboard. The script will continue to run.

7. It will then bring you to here with a suggestion of which Number you should pick (in Red) and what your current Memory and RAM optimizations (in Green):

8. To see what choice 1-27 is, you'll need to scroll up using your finger, fling the screen to go up. It'll register some giberrish at the bottom as this is terminal thinking you're typing something. Ignore it for now. Scroll up or look at the images below to see which of the recommendation from step 7 it tells you to pick from:

9. In my case, the script recommended that I stick with the 256 HP Tweaks because my RAM was only 108 MB on this phone. So that narrows my choices to numbers 2-4.

10. Bring up the keyboard again by touching any where on the screen. Because all the input from scrolling up and down is there just press enter and it'll error out and tell you to press any key to re select your choice. Press any key and it should bring up the menu 1-27 prompt again. Now enter your choice with the keyboard. Play around with the choices you have but for my purposes I am going to select 3 (Ledded Balanced for 256 HP) because I don't plan to multitask so much on this phone and I need it to be responsive enough to use. Hit enter and let the script run through.

11. When the script is done it'll bring you back to the menu 1-27 where you pick what you want to do next. You can play around with the other settings or exit the script from here by entering 27. Don't forget to reboot. Done.

***OPTIONAL***
After the script above is done applying, you can try doing number 18 (Nitro Lag Nullifier). Its an experimental feature but I haven't seen any detrimental effects so I use it. Enter 18 and then 1 to install.

There is also a 3G tweak (Also found in the same link that you run the same way but much more straightforward) that'll speed up your download/upload speed. It may be placebo as well but like everything, play with it yourself and see if it helps. For me, it sorta helped my download speeds. I've been hitting around 2.5 Mbps down on AT&T's 3G network with it. The highest I've hit ever is 3.8 Mbps. I only used to be able to average around 1.8.

Uninstalling
Option number 14 and 15 are what you'll be using to uninstall this tweak and return back to stock or custom kernelt tweaks.

The instructions seem long but its really not as the script does most of the work. Some custom kernels already have tweaks that are similar to what this script does. However, this allows you to control how aggressive or balanced you want those memory tweaks. I use this script on my HTC Ion, Galaxy S and Transformer and its helped a lot. Its most especially noticeable with my Ion as it used to refresh the homescreen consistently. With this tweak, my homescreen never refreshes when running out of memory. Stock users with root and low RAM (Original Droid users) will probably see the most effect from this tweak.

Wow look how closely this emulates the iOS launcher:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0giQVudyyM

Espier Launcher: https://market.android.com/details?i...spier.launcher

Almost frame by frame. The only difference is the wallpaper scrolling which is native to Android but that can easily be disabled with some smali editing. It would work very well with the iOS MIUI Theme:

http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php...hone-theme-6.8

Just downloaded and I'm very impressed. The animations are smooth. It basically is the iOS launcher. Swipe all the way to the left launches the search function. Crazy...

Here's an app for killing WiFi connection on anyone on the same router as your phone. Maybe knock someone offline whos been torrenting too much and hogging bandwidth. Needs root to work

So why are people so against Verizon or rather, CDMA? The obvious one is the lack of a SIM card, unless I'm mistaken? And price of voice & data plans, or what? I hardly ever travel out of the country and even if I did I think I'd live without my phone for a few days.

My friend seems vehemently against the idea of anything on Verizon no matter how good the phone is, apparently because the phones will be handicapped in some way. He suggested I use my upgrade to buy an iPhone 4S then sell it as well as my 3GS to get an unlocked Nexus Prime or w/e the hell it's gonna be called.

The onus is on whoever buys my iPhone to pay the plan, right? And thanks to anyone who has given advice or will do so, I've said it before but I'd be completely lost without you guys. I try and do whatever reading I can before I ask.

I've been eligible for an upgrade for almost half a year now but I figure I can wait a little more. But still, I can't wait..... 70% of my smartphone usage is for surfing the internet, whether it be Reddit, Facebook, AZ, etc. the bigger screen is a must for me.

For the RAM optimizing you were talking about, under CM performance settings, what does "allow purging of assets" do? Does that optimize RAM in a way also?? I find my phone running fine on CM7.

CDMA may be ancient tech but GSM isn't any better. In fact GSM is fairly easy to hack and snoop in on phone calls by setting up fake towers to have the phone connect to:

http://www.darkreading.com/security-...fcon-demo.html

With that said, my suggestion is to go with the provider that gives you the best reception in the area you'll be in. Verizon's prices are usually higher than the other carriers but that because they cover more areas than their competitors and the number of dropped calls are far less. They also don't compress their voice calls so they sound much better than the others. On the downside, their 3G speeds are usually the slowest compared but their LTE is fastest wise at the moment which is rolling out slowly. They still have the lead in this department against AT&T though.

Turn that off as well. Definitely try the script. I thought my stock CM7 kernel was smooth but this helps it out even more especially the multitasking. I noticed that a lot of my apps that I want running in the background DO stay in the background instead of getting killed all the time now. The script balances the workload very well making the whole phone just smooth all around and I haven't seen my home screen refresh in a while now. (Been testing this script for 3 weeks now.)

As long as you're in the same network (Starbucks anyone?), you should be able to detect their computer and kill their connection. What it does is that it routes all connections to your phone and drops them. Its a really powerful app. More info here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1282900

FaceNiff is another such powerful app. For the people who aren't using the "https" version of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or Amazon in their browser, this app will allow you to take full control of their accounts. I've tried it and it does work:

http://faceniff.ponury.net/

http://youtu.be/3bgwVM7t_s4

Finally, I'll plug in one more app for the IT people:

http://www.zimperium.com/Android_Network_Toolkit.html

This app can detect holes in your network security. This app can take over a whole PC if its not secured down enough.

WiFiKill related. lol:

Well, I went on a little drive about an hour ago, went to Starbucks and kicked everyone with an iDevice off the network. After a few min of seeing 4 angry hipsters, and one who went up and bitched at the barista, I left and went to MacDonalds. Im a terrible person. Also because I grabbed lunch at McDonalds. it was terrible.

I've been with Verizon for 10+ years and have no complaints. I can also do simultaneous voice and data at the same time using my htc thunderbolt. Verizon never advertised this feature since it would have cut into iPhone sales and all the cdma iphone users would be upset that they didn't have this feature. Oh and Verizon's 4G speeds are still unbeatable. I get no less than 12-22 mbps down and about 4-7mbps up on my hone wherever I go.

I just ran through both of those scripts. I used option 5 on the memory script. Ill give it some time to see how it works.

3G booster-

Before:

After:

I used option 3, or the fastest setting. Both tests were done from the same server. So yea, Id say the 3G script definitely works.

I'm using Experimental 1. I haven't tried the other settings although I should. Your speeds are good. What carrier are you on? I can only hit 4 Mbps on my Galaxy S late at night.

Was able to hit 5 Mbps multiple times today using setting 3 on ATT's 3G. Never done that before and it was during normal hours:
