Is it true when you connect thumb drives and what not to the Galaxy Nexus you always have to restart to get them detected?

Nope. No issues here. I just mount/unmount with StickMount. I only reboot to flash things. Lol.

My CD Slot car mount came in. Build quality seems pretty solid. Gonna test it out in my car tomorrow. This along with the NFC tags makes everything I do so convenient. The tags don't actually scan until you unlock the phone and the screen is on. Must be for security reasons.

Ok awesome. Guess I am going to need to root so I can try my plan with the card reader.

I have been loving my mount. Might have to order some tags cause it does get annoying turning everything on when I get in the car. Start my car dock app and Vlingo for voice calling and texting. If only I had bluetooth audio and steering wheel controls it would be perfect.

What do you use for voice activation?

The mount is nice. Wasn't expecting the quality to be so good. Online it looked like it would've been made of plastic but I'm glad its not. Right now they're sold out so I'm glad I got mine right away. That detachable bottom was very difficult to remove though. The tags are pretty awesome. I'm thinking of just sticking them on my door and scanning them on the way out or in and I'll probably stick it on my car mount. If not on the mount, somewhere close by because I haven't finalized my profiles and thinking of what else I would like the tags to do.

Right now, I don't really use any app for Voice Actions. I really try not to use my phone when I'm driving except for music and navigation. If I really need to text or call someone then I do it manually or use Google's voice to text which does a pretty good job. I used to use Vlingo though and they're pretty good though.

Not a damn thing except burning more heat in the processor. I mean if we were comparing a 1980's Moto block phone to today's phone then cook it.

There gets to a point, whether display resolution, internet speeds, chip speeds, etc. that you can not say "wow" anymore. It's going to have to be something different to get the wow factor.

It means you can speed up the processor more if you want to. You will get more performance, but may sacrifice battery life.

You have to play with the voltages to get it stable, but its a bitch. It got to the point where I had to bump the voltages up so high that the phone ran hot and got shitty battery life.

I recently underclocked mine to 800 max. Battery life is insane so far, and there isnt a big hit on performance either. We'll see how long a full charge lasts. My average with 200min/1200max was ~48hrs. Its been off the charger for 10hrs now and Im only down to 88%.

I see, today will be the first day I'll get to see how my battery life is running CM9 w/ Matr1x 14.5 and using the smartassv2 governor. Didn't change anything else.

Is there something I should change??

CM9 v1.1 or one of the Alphas?

For overclocking, each phone responds differently. Ive been using the lulzactive governor with the sio scheduler. My lulzactive settings are:

Min CPU - 200
Max CPU - 800
Deep Idle On
Inc CPU Load - 80%
Pump up step - 2
Pump down step - 1
Screen off min step - 5@400
Up sample time - 15000
Down sample time - 40000

Ive also got BLN turned on, BLX is set to 100%, BLD is on, and Touchwake is off (I dont have a need for it). Im using default voltages.

Currently on battery for 12.5hrs and at 85%, about 1.2% battery loss per hour. The phone isnt just sitting there either, I am actually using it

When the screen turns off, depending on how long you have it set to, you have a window in which you can touch the screen to turn it back on instead of having to hit the unlock button. 1,000ms is equal to 1 second.

i'm on v1.1, haha damn thats good battery life.

lets see i'm at 74% and at 4h 20m on battery. Much better than before.

I was at 77% and around 3 hours so i'm losing it pretty slowly. I've been playing a lot of words with friends lol and texting going on.

My android OS is still higher than the screen but its definitely better than stock. My batter would only last 9-11 hours on 4.0.3. So def an improvement.

Ive noticed with Alpha20 and v1.1 that Android OS is still running pretty high. On Alpha 18 I would be in the 15-23% range, but now im in the high 20s. It really doesnt bother me now though because the battery life is still great.

Yea I dont really care as long as the battery life is there. It seems like my battery life may be normal now, which is awesome! Then it could just be a bug in the system that makes that number high.

The Android OS "bug" seems to actually not be a bug at all. The description of Android OS encompasses a lot of things kernel related which is why its so high and makes sense when you're phone is idling. If you aren't experiencing any battery drains then you don't need to worry about Android OS being high up there. Android OS is usually second or third on my battery usage list but my battery life has never been better on the Nexus which I'm averaging a whole full day plus some hours with with normal usage.

Yea the Rom im running for my EVO 4G overclocks the processor a concervative 1.19ghz from the stock 1ghz. Things run nice and fluid, has android 2.3.7 (vs. stock 2.3.3) and Sense 3.5 UI (vs. Sense 1.0 stock) over the basic Android runs flawlessly. My battery life is extended compared to stock Sense 1.0 because when the phone goes to sleep it turns off the wi/fi and 3g/4g antennas to save battery. When sleep the processor runs at a max 128mhz just so it can get my emails every 5min. Its not EVO 3D fast but it's def a difference if you mess with someone elses stock EVO... These upgrades in the Roms keep me from wasting money on newer phones...lol. Vs. buying every year I had my Phone before my EVO (HTC Touch Pro 2 w/ Custom rom overclocked from 528mhz to 700mhz) 2years and plan to keep this one 2 years as well. Word is spring is getting HTC's 1st quadcord phone this year and will be LTE. I'm currently waiting on HTC to finish Sense UI for ICS so I can flash that because ICS as it sits looks awful to me. I'm aware that I started ramblling. Please forgive me haha I love computors and phones. Technology only makes my day2day life as well as even my 63yo mom (she has LG Optimus S Android).

Okay im done now.

Nice!! Thanks for the notice Michael! I'll flash it before I sleep so I can see how good the battery was on the current set up I have and I'm able to compare it.

Ill wait until Voodoo drivers are merged with his kernel. Plus, I want to see how long my battery can last on the current setup. As it is, it looks like its going to take awhile

Currently - 20.5hrs, 80% left

Im using the same settings that someone on XDA uses, and they got around 2 days to a charge on the stock battery. The way its going, Im on track to get ~100hrs on a charge

So just for fun I've been playing with iLauncher on my stock Samsung Galaxy S running TouchWiz and my ASUS Transformer on Revolver ROM. I'm using Smart Keyboard Pro with the Cupertino Theme and iPhone Notifications to mimic the iOS 5 notification banner. Also grabbed some icons from the Ultimate iPhone Theme for MIUI:

Samsung Galaxy S i9000 on JVU Stock TouchWiz:

ASUS Transformer running Revolver 3.1.11:

Portrait Mode:

Landscape Mode:

iLauncher is smooth and comes very close to the stock iOS launcher. Folder creation has been finally fixed in the recent updates so now you can just drag and drop icons onto each other to create a folder. Even the animation when you unlock the phone and the icons fly in is up to point. The only thing I wish it did was use the Home button to go back to the 1st page instead of using the Back button. Otherwise, this launcher is 90% similar to the iOS launcher.

If I flashed MIUI or Cyanogenmod and did the status bar tweak, I could basically get it close to 90% of what an iPhone would look like. The launcher is smooth as butter pretty much like the iOS launcher. If the dev can just switch the Home and Back button function, I would say the only thing left to fix would be scaling the icons automatically. Other than that, people just need to create custom icons and somehow automate the attachment to the app like the other launchers do it now unless I just haven't come across it.

Has any one used the Torque app from the Market yet? I've been curious about it for the longest time but I'm not sure if I'm really ready to drop some money on an ODB-II bluetooth adapter that I'd use only once in a while. The app dev has a list of adapters that work with the app here:

http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Bluetooth_Adapters

Link to the app and a cool plugin that allows you to overlay the data when you record a video:

Paid version:

Lite version:

https://market.android.com/details?i...owl.torquefree

Track Recorder:

Sample vids of the app in action:

I've seen it multiple times and wanted to just try it out for the features that doesnt require connecting to the OBD II port, but I dont have a dock or anything for my phone so it would read info that well since my phone cant be level and stationary.

There's another app I forgot the name but it uses your camera to look at cars ahead and your lanes and can tell you the speed of the cars ahead of you and so forth. Pretty cool.

My buddy just bought the Galaxy S2, he came from Iphone 4 and he said he will never go back.

I convinced another one to get onto the Android Market, my other friend is buying his S2 next month, now to get my other Iphone friend.

But damn I still want the Nexus.

I had it. It works well as long as you get a quality OBDII adapter. Mine broke, and within the next month or so I will no longer have an OBDII port, so I have no reason to buy another.

I did like the data logging though. And its a cheap alternative to a full fledged OBDII scanner if you need to read codes on the fly.

And a forced new data plan with ATT... that's why I jumped on the white Skyrocket before the change.

The only thing I will miss out on is the HD resolutions coming, but if the batteries don't improve as well, I might be dodging a bullet.

Same here, but here, but they really dont like the battery.

I think instead of adding cores companies need to start putting a lot of research into battery development.

I'm going to do all I can to buy a GSM phone off contract. Basically, whatever quad core HSPA+ is announced at MWC (if any) will most likely be in my pocket.

If you're talking about the GSM version then yeah it'll work on either AT&T or T-Mobile or any international GSM network just fine. If you're talking about the CDMA version then no, it'll only work on Verizon. It'll work theoretically on Sprint but you'll have a hard time getting it registered to work on their network. The same is true when the Sprint CDMA version comes out.

Strange thing happened today -

I dropped my phone while at work, about an 18" drop at most. The back cover popped off and the battery went flying. I powered it back up and saw "SAFE MODE" in the bottom left corner. Id never seen that before. I rebooted, and it went away, the phone runs perfectly fine.

I did a quick search on it and it appears that if you hold down the menu button while the phone is booting up it disables all 3rd party apps in case you are stuck in an FC loop. Learn something new every day.

Yeah. Safe Mode is there although it never helped me in the past. Lol. I don't know how to do it on the Galaxy Nexus though cause the software buttons don't show up until you get booted. Oh well, if I get FC's and can't solve it with a Fix Permissions then I usually just reflash and start over. Much cleaner that way any way.
