What I meant was that maybe one of the updates SIM locked your phone to WIND only. So you would have to unlock your phone. I do believe there are some SIM locked Nexus out there but I think they're all in Europe. You could drop by AT&T and see what's going on though. That'd be the easiest step first.

So T9 predictive dialing is actually possible in ICS. You need to be rooted but its an easy fix. All you have to do is find a compatible Contacts.apk that has it already from the many custom ROMs out there and extract it and then replace your Contacts.apk. This will provide T9 predictive dialing in the dialer.

Modaco just released his method on how to enable Facebook Sync on Vanilla Android:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/3500...ream-sandwich/
You need to decompile ContactsProvider.apk (probably easiest with APK Manager) and run a script but it looks simple enough. Or you could wait for the devs to add it on.

Got Facebook Sync to work. I could write up a tutorial if people are interested. It does require you to be rooted and have ADB Installed amongst other things. The pictures synced over are unfortunately very tiny so its blur galore.

Spc816 is on T-Mobile. There shouldn't be any issues except the MMS as T-Mobile needs to flip a switch on their end to recognize the Nexus as an Android phone. Otherwise, there are fixes to it already at XDA.

I'm thinking about doing it, I'm just questioning whether I should wait for CES to see if anything better is coming soon.

I'm sure there will be. There are already talks of quadcore phones such as the Tegra 3 and new Exynos processors being fitted into phones. The Galaxy S III is supposedly going to use the new Exynos quadcores. But you have to realize that Nexus phones will always get the updates first. If you're okay with waiting or relying on the dev community to update the phone, then wait. If you don't want to gamble, then take the Nexus.

I'm not the type that's going to sit and wait for Google to roll out an update, I'm going to put it on there myself manually as soon as I can.

I don't know, my latest theory is that the Nexus name gets less meaningful by the day (I use a Nexus One now). With the amount of dev support, who cares about getting updated from Google?

Anyone have experience with the Samsung Galaxy II Skyrocket? The white one looks cool, and seems to get good reviews sans battery life. But no ICS yet. So it's not leaps beyond the Captivate... however the Galaxy Note is, but it's not available in the US yet.

Meet up with my cousin last night for dinner and he's been looking to get a new phone. He's been looking at the Galaxy Note yet there's no release date in the states. If he buys order one from ebay or amazon will 4g work?

It was a great investment, mine was from Negri electronics and it came with yakju if that matters to you.

My brother got the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon last week.
I hate to say this, but Im not really impressed. The battery live on it sucked (he dropped ~30% in 2 hours). There was noticeable lag with auto rotate on. And, this is more a fault of Verizon, the network kept stalling. Granted, he's not rooted, so Im sure there are some improvements to be made there. But my phone runs just as fast as his, if not faster.
The size didn't bother me though. Its definitely larger then my Nexus S, but its not a huge difference. The screen was really nice. Ive yet to see what it can do rooted, but I dont know if he wants to do that (hes a bitch when it comes to those things).
He switched from TMo to Verizon and bought the phone through Amazon for $155. If he likes it, its not a bad deal for him. I just cant justify nearly 7 large for it. Ill wait it out, for now.

Was wondering. Has anyone with NFC phones played with something like this?
I've been thinking about it and probably using 3 or 4 of them to switch between profiles on the fly for home, car dock and going out use. With the NFC app, you could also use one NFC tag for multiple profiles. More info here:

Compared to my Galaxy S which is very similar to the Nexus S, there is a big difference. With that said, ICS on the Galaxy S is still a beta but runs pretty fast. Lags are very noticeable in the Galaxy S where the Nexus just flies through the same processes. The browser experience is totally different on both devices. I guess, its really something you notice when you actually use the phone daily. The Galaxy S is still very capable though. It just doesn't provide the same experience as the Nexus does and its pretty noticeable when using both phone simultaneously.

With the latest CM9 Alpha 18 and Glados v2.4 kernel there is very little lag on my phone. Even auto rotate works the way it should.
Im not shitting on the phone, just stating the impression I got from it after playing with it for about an hour. Maybe I was just expecting more.

Yea, I wish Franco would work on an ICS kernel for the NS. I loved his GB builds. They were rock stable and blazing fast.

Alright I'm having some trouble here...
A while back I rooted my friends mytouch4g and put on MIUI on his phone. Now my friend is giving his phone back to his dad and he wants me to put stock ROM back on it, and that's where the trouble is coming.
I swear I made a backup when I installed MIUI and there is a backup there. But everytime I'm try to restore the backup from ROM manager or CWM I get the MD5 verification/file is missing.
I found a stock ROM on xda here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845756
and its a restore file so I'm suppose to unzip it in the backup folder of CWM and the same thing happens when I click to restore it. The MD5 file is missing.
I'm lost on how to do this if I can't restore these backups. Any clue whats going on?
edit: just figured it out. It was because the filename was wrong as I put the file in another folder that it came in and tossed that into the backup folder. Taking that extra folder out seemed to have solved it, I hope. Its running the restore right now so I hope it works outl

Have you checked to see if the download file isn't corrupted? Try to reflash the recovery. Lastly, if you can find fastboot images and flash that way it'll be a lot easier. Not sure if MT4G has fastboot but it should.

So an updated look on battery life on the Galaxy Nexus:
![](http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/534/screenshot2011122912255.png)
Decided to try out Bigxie's stock kernel as Franco's kernel was having some issues with drain during idle and what a difference in battery life. The screen wasn't on as much as I normally use my phone but I did do a lot of phone calls with a good portion on speaker phone. Also note that I was on WiFi about 90% of the time. Bigxie's stock kernel also doesn't have UV implemented so I'm sure there can be even more improvements.
Franco's new kernel supposedly fixed the idle drain and so I'm off to testing it now. Hoping to pull in around the same or better battery time with UV.

That battery life is still pretty good, I'm still getting quite a lot of drain with ICS, google should update soon. Its weird because whether or not I use my phone much I end up having similar battery life. So when my phone's idle there's something eating up the battery. I remember someone said they did a factory reset and it was all good.

Is your phone getting Deep Sleep? You can check with CPU Spy from the market. Franco mentioned in his thread that there is a Camera Sensor bug that prevents the phone from Deep Sleep every time you reboot the phone. GTalk automatically turns on the Camera and you have to manually open up the Camera app then exit out to stop it from preventing the phone going to Deep Sleep. Not sure if it affects all 4.0.3 devices.

Yeah battery life is definitely really good with the kernel. It wasn't as smooth as Franco's but that's probably because of the way Franco's kernel is set up for a faster speed up with his Ondemand governor. Now I'm back on Franco's testing to see if he really did fix the idle issue. He also added some kind of color tweak to his kernel which makes videos even better than they were.

My phone went to sleep and lost only a few percent when not using it, instead of losing all its battery lol, but I have to wait till tomorrow once I start signing in my apps when I start using them again. So tomorrow I'll know if that fixed my phone. I hope it did. I wonder if this would work for the galaxy nexus also.

So you know how the Galaxy Nexus has touch to focus and digital zoom.
Why doesnt the nexus S have that? Aren't those only software related?

Im on stock ice cream sandwich or whatever you call it. Still getting used to typing and how the UI works but so far im digging it. There is some delay on some actions though, though it's on third party apps mostly. Im in love with this screen though. Cant wait to root and experiment.

Damn so a customer came in with a Galaxy Note. ![Drool](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/drool.gif)
That thing is sexy! But damn it's huge. But I bet surfing the net on it must be lovely.
Only downside he said was the battery. Lasts only half a day
