That's one of the lab settings "Quick Controls". Did you try disabling it? You get used to it after a while and it works well in big screens when you're using the phone with one hand.

The stock keyboard is very precise too. I also like the speech to text, it works well. I really wish they gave us T9 support in the dialer though, that way I didnt have to go into contacts. One of the alpha builds had it, so I kind of assumed it was a Google implementation, not a dev thing.
T9 is only in the custom ROMs. For some reason, Google refuses to put in T9 dialing. I guess that's why they put the search button on the bottom left of the dialer. I find it annoying as well as I'd rather just start dialing and then choose who I want to contact if I don't know the full number.

I mustve been really tired when I played with the browser last night a bit and didn't notice that with Quick Controls off I can swipe down and the address bar pops up

CG - How did you get the black background for the Widgetsoid notification bar widget to stick? I set it to none and also tried black but it stays grey

Black background? As far as I know the background color is ignored in the notification bar as that setting is only for the widget on the homescreen. Here's my settings:

I just set mine up exactly like yours, and I still have a grey background

Theres at least one other person on the NS side of XDA that has the same issue, so maybe its the program

Yeah sounds like the app is having issues. Something probably changed in 4.0.3

Possibly. I sent an email to the dev. Hopefully more people have this issue on 4.0.3.

I think the Auto brightness on ICS is just always to dim. Well in low light conditions it is. I turned it off for now.

edit: other than that the phone has been amazing!

I gotta change some of my contacts around because I synced google+ contacts with my phone so I have some duplicates. But I like the new people app, just wished more people used google+

Yea, the auto brightness is way too dim. Its fine in moderate to well lit areas, but in a dark room the screen looks barely lit.

Theres a thread on xda with people complaining about the update

There are a few saying its not ready for prime time and it has too many flaws. I don't see any of the issues they mention. One user said the battery drained 70 percent in 6 hours He checked batt stats and it shows Android OS at 33%, so he is running something thats keeping it awake. Mine is down to 83% over about 5 hours. Android OS is at 18%. Its more battery draw then GB, but I was undervolted.

I did do a full wipe when I flashed the update, so maybe thats why Im not having any of the issues they mention.

Other people are just pissed that their phone doesnt have the update yet. Logic does not apply to their arguments.

The SU binary was updated for 4.0.3!! Now I get proper SU permissions

Also, I didnt know until someone pointed it out on XDA, but if you hold volume down and the power button it takes a screenshot. Im so used to CM7 with it in the power prompt.

I'm running 2.3.4 on my Droid 3, there is a upgrade right?

Also my wife's droid 2 Global is effing up. she's running 2.3.3. Everytime she text messaging she will hit the space bar and some random screen will pop up, also the phone keeps freezing like crazy.

If anyone has had this problem, and fixed it let me know

Thanks

Why didn't you go with the 7.0 plus? Same price and it's got honeycomb and newer?

people complained about GB too, there's never nothing to complain about, but its truth or else ICS would be perfect and aw we know, nothing is ever perfect.

Last night my battery was going good all day and at night, in a couple hours I lost a lot of battery. But it was FB. It hogged 22%!!
Other than that my battery is fine. Just the same as gingerbread really. Haven't noticed anything yet. We'll see when i've used it longer.

Other than that I get a few force closes more often probably because the apps need an update to run with ICS better.

And yea no other problems.

Btw, there are some widgets you can resize like the google calendar and gmail. I think thats pretty neat.

The one thing I dont like about the gallery app is how it pulls all of my Google+ photos as well. I dont use G+ anymore (it bored me) and I dont want to see those pics, some of which already reside in my camera folder, in my gallery. And theres no way to delete them

The panorama setting in the app works ok, but I thought Pano (on the market) is actually much better at stitching the photos together. But in Pano you have to take each picture whereas the stock camera app just does it in one continuous motion.

Uncheck the sync "Google Photos" button in your accounts. Then clear your Gallery data and Media Storage data in the Manage apps (This will reset your ringtones and notifications). Reboot. Won't show up again.

Ill try clearing the data. Its unchecked in accounts though.

Edit - That did it

BTW, they already have roms based off of OTA right now, and there is one kernel available as well.

But what exactly is running a custom ROM gonna offer now? ICS solves a lot of problems, especially on the NS where we have no bloatware.

edit: I'll look but I wont switch unless its something good enough too.

Well I'm currently missing the Volume button skip for music from Cyanogenmod, along with the status bar brightness tweak and a bunch of other Cyanogenmod features. With that said, I do agree, ICS does cover a good portion of stuff that was missing in previous Android versions. I hope they get a status bar tweak just like they did in custom Honeycomb ROMs to hide the buttons and take advantage of the full 720p screen on the Galaxy Nexus. I'm sure its coming. Other than that, I think kernels will be the biggest changes to overclock and undervolt to save more battery with Voodoo color and sound.

Unfortunately I am still not sold on the SGN camera even being as good as my Thunderbolts camera was which is bugging me. Hoping it is more of a software issue than a sensor issue.

Well I guess the camera isn't super terrible however the pics look terrible on the phone itself for some reason. This definitely looks a lot better on my computer than it did on the phone.

Here are two more samples. The second one although not great looking gives the camera its one main plus. My Thunderbolt wouldn't render a useful picture in these lighting conditions.

I have begun to think it might be a big of a software issue. I have been playing with other camera apps and a few seem to take better pictures. One thing I also noticed is we cannot change the ISO on the camera at all and it seems to default to high ISO unless outside in complete sun.

Here are four other comparison pics from different apps along with one from the standard app. The problem is PicsArt only allows 1024x768 files. However for posting things to facebook and what not that is really all you need. I didn't change any settings in the apps these are all with default settings.

Standard Camera App

PicsArt

Yeah I think its a software issue as well that'll probably get tweaked over time. With that said, the pics aren't that bad. The flash is really bright and works very well in dark conditions. Check out the game Google posted for the Nexus:

Its like a NES game. The title screen reminds me of Ninja Gaiden.

Well picked up the samsung galaxy s2 i777 (AT&T) today. I like it a lot, only gripe is that the phone is a little too wide and their isn't a stock music widget. Great phone, way snappier than the HTC Aria I had.

Jeebus.... Anyone else using Verizon's LTE? This is some expensive stuff. The 450 talk plan is $39.99 - for some reason talk and text is $59.99. 2/4 (?) GB LTE is gonna be $30/mo. Currently only paying $64/mo for the 2GB data + 1000 text plan on AT&T.

My friend keeps telling me to upgrade to an iPhone 4S, then sell it and buy an unlocked SGN (HSPA+) and use it on T-Mo because it'll be cheaper. But from what I've read and what you guys have told me, that's gonna be a big hassle.

Yes Verizon is one of the most expensive. With that said, their coverage is a lot more reliable than others. If you do the T-Mobile route, you could technically get on the $30 Walmart plan which is what some people are doing with the Nexus:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1366927

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1373770

With the Walmart plan, you get 100 minutes and 5 GB of data before being slowed down. You could technically use Google Voice as your incoming and outgoing number especially with GrooveIP from the Market and get unlimited calling using data/WiFi. The Nexus is pentaband so it'll work with T-Mobile and AT&T 3G/"4G". Other than the MMS issue, there shouldn't be any major problems.

Thats why I haven't switched to Verizon. Even with my corporate discount, 900 minutes with unlimited text and 4GB of data is $95 before taxes. On T-Mobile, their unlimited talk and text plan with with 5GB of data is $89.99 before my corporate discount.

Ive recently dropped one of the lines, so Im going to switch up my rate plan. They offer "value plans", where you just get the sim card and sign a two year aggreement. The Unlimited Plus is what Im looking at - unlimited talk and text, 2GB of data (I use wifi at home so I only really use about 1.5GBs monthly), and thats $59.99 before my corp discount. The 5GB version is $74.99 a month.

Well this is certainly interesting.....

I got a message from TMo tonight saying my balance is past due. I have my account on auto pay. So I check my bank account to be sure, my payment was never charged. But, its a good thing I did check, because on 11/2 there was a charge from "Vesta TMobile" for $60.50. Thats not the same name on the normal payments (which there was a normal payment on the previous day that I did have knowledge of paying). I did a search on the merchants number, it was TMobile Prepaid. I also saw quite a few forums with people saying their cards were charged by them for something the card holder didn't initiate.

I called the prepaid line, gave them my phone number, and my number couldnt be found. I explained the situation and they asked for my card number so they could locate it. I declined for obvious reasons.

Ended up calling my bank and opening a fraud case regarding it. Im just a bit annoyed that my card was charged for some BS.

Also, my brother noticed that theyve been charging him for some mobile tv thing they have (I had no idea they even had that) for the past few months. They cancelled it but wont refund his money. His Galaxy Nexus just arrived from Amazon though, so he probably wont be with TMo much longer.

/not really Android related

So my friend has a mytouch 4G slide. And its not so responsive, but on reviews I remember reading that its got some good speed. Like she has a lot of lag. Can't even play a game of fruit ninja without it lagging. Any suggestions without going the root route?

I wish more people used Google+

The new mobile update just shows how hard they are working compared to fb. But people aren't realizing!

There's a new social network now called Path trying to take on Instagram and Facebook. There's so many now its getting a little ridiculous. lol.

Just to follow up on the Widgetsoid issue. I upgraded my Nexus to 4.0.3 and I do get the White background in the notification bar. Seems like the app needs to be updated for 4.0.3. Gonna try Extended Controls and see if it does the same thing.
