I'm sure as apps get optimized for ICS, those buttons will become more and more in the third state. There are apps that allow you to hide the status bar in Honeycomb to make full use of the screen and I wouldn't be surprised if they make one for ICS.
Hopefully they will also do that for the web browser as well.

Went to Verizon store last night and they didn't have any Rezounds not even a display model and it is a rather larger Verizon store in one of the upper class areas around. Guess I will have to start calling a bunch of stores to find some place that has one.

I assume most Best Buys still only carry dummy phones and not any actual ones to try out?

Usually, but I've asked to see a real one and they have brought one out to me.

They've had it working for a while now. It won't be officially supported by Verizon but its out there.

Yeah I'm tempted to get one but I already have too many spare monitors around...Apparently the Lapdock is just an HDMI monitor and you can connect any device with an HDMI out using a Female Micro HDMI to a Male HDMI converter:

The thread is here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1376679

By default, the USB ports should be able to charge whatever you connect to them but to use the Mouse and other USB functions you would need to create a Female USB A to Female USB anything converter like the guy in the thread did because no such converter exists in the market that you can buy. (At least, I haven't seen any yet.)

FYI, the Atrix LapDock for $50 deal died sometime yesterday afternoon. It went back to $99.99 for a while before being completely sold out on the public AT&T site.

AT&T Premier/Corporate still has the new dock for sale though. Both sites have the refurbished one for $75, I believe.

Mine is arriving tomorrow

Well guys I finally rooted my EVO 4G a few weeks back and I love the new Android 2.3 Sense 3.5 Roms with a tad of ICS put in as well as overclocking the snap dragon processor by 20%. It adds new life to my phone and keeps me happy until i can upgrade again this time next year. This thread is soo long now.

Damn the no contract price is of the Galaxy Nexus is listed to be $799.99. That is like off contract iPhone price. Guess if I want both the Galaxy Nexus and the Rezound I will buy the Rezound off contract.

I was thinking the same thing. For a 6yo get him a cheap Android epad. 10 inch screen for under 200 biz. Look it up.

I really would like to do a long testing of both and would probably end up selling one after some point but I have to say this is the first time I am really torn between two phones so much. I normally can in the end narrow it down pretty much. Part of it is I have personally had such good results with HTC hardware, my last 5 phones have been HTC, I am worried not being happy going over to Samsung. Not happy I can't find a Rezound anywhere local to be able to play around with. Probably would make my decision easier.

Just the way I see it so far.

Rezound
Pros
full use of 1280x720 resolution
8mp camera f2.2 (supposedly best android camera right now)
micro sd card
Great integration with sense

Cons
Only 4.3 screen
No phone specific car dock
Still 2.3.4 and no idea how long it will take to get ICS
Can't use fast boot
Long boot times cause of sense

Galaxy Nexus
Pro
4.65 screen
ICS
Car Dock
Fast boot times since no sense

Cons
Not full use of 1280x720
5mp camera
Not have some of the cool sense widgets/apps however interested to see how much ICS has fixed the need for all that

Probably going to pickup the GN this Friday and then if I hate it I have till Jan 14th to switch to the Rezound at least.

I was an idiot and bought a Rezound from an authorized reseller that only had a 14 day return policy. The Rezound is an awesome phone but I had some buyers remorse not waiting for the Nexus, so I took it back on Saturday.

Yeah, it was a great phone, I just want to give the Nexus a try and see which one I like better. My Pros and Cons for the Rezound...

Pros
The camera! It's amazing!
Screen is beautiful
The new Sense is nice
Very comfortable to hold
Wireless charging built in if you have a charging dock
HTC widgets
Feels like it's built very well
Red accents look really nice

Cons
Screen was hard to see in the sun even with brightness all the way up.
Sense was a bit laggy at times
Touch was not as smooth or responsive as my iphone was
Battery life sucks in 4G
Wouldn't connect to my computer via USB worth a damn

I don't really like earbuds, so the beats headphones only got tried out once. They sound pretty good though.

Sounds like it is a great phone and this is really going to be a tough decision. Didn't know about wireless charging no idea how I missed that. Really need to find some place to test one out. I wonder if it would work with my HP TouchPad wireless chargers since I have two of them.

Per your Cons for the Nexus:
-- what the heck do you mean by full use of 1280x720??? Do you even need to have it "full" use?
-- megapixels are not the benchmark for cameras. It is about the sensor, and the Samsung camera sensors right now are 100 out of 100 better than HTC sensors, so despite the "low" megapixels, you are getting a better camera than the Rezound.... unless you want to take giant poster photos all day, then by all means go get a big number megapixel camera
-- sense vs. stock ICS is all up to personal preference. Choose what you like.

For 7" tablets, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is king.

http://www.androidcentral.com/samsun...initial-review Better link

Don't confuse this with the original Galaxy Tab 7.0 which is fatter and runs Gingerbread. Its using the same Exynos processor found in the Galaxy S 2 and is way more capable than the Tegra 2. Arguable about the Tegra 3, but graphics wise should match or better it. Price wise its going around $700 right now but that's because it isn't officially released in the US yet.

For the more budget oriented, the Acer Iconia Tab A100 (Dual Core Tegra):

Amazon Amazon

Lenovo K1 (This is a single core and not really the best in performance or in price. lol.):

Amazon Amazon

Then there's the Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet. The Kindle Fire is not the fastest but seems to be more customizable than the Nook Tablet due to the open bootloader. I guess it really doesn't matter for a 6 year old kid though. lol. Also the Nook Tablet limits you to 1 GB of space for non-Nook apps which is pretty small.

If you really want performance, wait for the Samsung 7.7. If want something in the middle, the Acer. If just for consuming media, the Kindle or the Nook leaning more towards the Kindle at the moment.

Don't forget the reason why the Nexus will be $800 off contract is because it has a 32 GB internal and LTE. Amongst the other things it has such as the NFC and the 1280x720 resolution.

Here's a comparison of the Galaxy S II vs. the Galaxy Nexus camera:

http://hemorrdroids.net/samsung-gala...2-camera-test/

It looks like the Nexus is giving its pictures a yellow tint which looks to be fixable by software. If not, a little post processing can fix it. Here's another:

Regarding the resolution yes when browsing forums having all the pixels available makes things easier to read. The GN takes away part of the screen for the buttons since it doesn't have physical buttons. The Rezound on the other hand has the 1280x720 screen and then the buttons bellow it so technically you have more screen real estate on the rezound.

I did not know that Samsung sensor was better than HTC. I know that MP is not everything to cameras I just thought that the new HTC sensor was better.

The Rezound has 32gb of storage and LTE just not all the storage is built in half is an sd card. Yes it is a difference but usable space is still the same. Technically if I really needed it I could have 48gb in a Rezound if I wanted to.

Yeah the Rezound is a good phone. Its just noticeably fatter than the other phones out there right now. Otherwise, HTC has a pretty good record for updates and has a good developer backing. With that said, it won't beat the Nexus in terms of upgrades and developers. Also, I'm not sold on the Beats audio as its just an EQ more than anything. It only works in the Music app as well which is a fail.

Yes it does. That's why they're using it as a comparison. The S II has one of the best cameras out there right now. Its equal to the 4S which is quite surprising considering how old the original Galaxy S II is. Samsung makes great hardware and they're slowly getting on top of their updates.

Oh forgot to mention this link comparing the RAZR, Rezound and the Nexus screens, you can see the buttons disappear when watching YouTube vids on the Nexus:

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/11/29...s-htc-rezound/

Also, the Nexus actually shows more than the Rezound in the browser despite having the buttons displaying because it is a 4.65" display. (Its a very minor difference though.) If it was the same 4.0" found in the Rezound, then you can make that argument.

Which is why I don't understand why that camera was not used in the Galaxy Nexus.

Verizon doesn't make as much money off the Nexus as they do off their own DROID branded products, hence they really don't want to release it before they make as much money as they can off the initial wave of RAZRs.

This is pretty much pie in the face of all those that kept touting how Verizon is the best at everything, without realizing their own clouded perception filter. Sucks to be you :p

Most likely due to the lag-free shutter feature. 8 MP = bigger, more time needed to buffer and store the image. 5 MP = smaller and faster to buffer and store. At least that's the speculation right now.

Verizon always delays the best phones till the point of almost non existence. I guess maybe I should just get the Rezound cause by the time they actually release this thing it will be irrelevant.

The rezound is a awesome phone especially if you like the Sense UI that sits on top of the Android platform. I went with the EVO 4G (I'm with Sprint) for this very reason because it made the adjustment easy coming from the HTC Touch Pro 2 with the Sense UI over Windows mobile. I'll continue with HTC as word is Sprints next EVO phone which HTC produces will be one of the worlds 1st Quadcore (Nvidia Tegra 3) phones. Its a neat processor only using all cores for graphic intensive games or video.

Here are some photos I took with the Rezound. Nothing has been post processed and the panoramic photos were stitched by the phone. The camera also has a macro mode which I found was very good, but don't have any photos to show.

I have always had HTC so never disputed this. Just those confirm that the Rezound has one of the top cameras in it right now.

If you mean back in May then yes. I use my phone for 90% of my computer use outside of work anymore. I like to upgrade every 6-9 months and 12 months at the most because of that.

Actual photographers will tell you that HTC makes one of the worst cameras for their phones up until the Rezound.

But then, most people that take photos with their phones don't notice camera/picture quality anyways.

As with most opinions, YMMV.
