He damn well shouldn't. He is one of the top 5 scorers in the NBA, and will continue to be for some time. My one gripe about Russell is his decision-making. He does stupid basketball decisions. I don't really care about him being emotional and/or intense, because to me, that's a plus. The way he gets hype spreads out to everyone, me included.

^^I don't see anything wrong with his play either. If his jump shot is on and he knows he can get past anyone AND finish, he's unstoppable as a point or lead guard.

I appreciate the Steve Nashes, Cp3s, Rondos, and all the traditional point guards, but if Russell Westbrook and to an even greater extent, Derrick Rose can do what they do, it would be a disservice to their team for them to play like a traditional point guard.

^Westbrook when he's on is a doublethreat PG and slash-and-burn scorer. He dunks like a shooting guard and is able to create a lot of chaos for defense. His style of play is obviously less conservative with greater potential for miscues and turnovers but that's the way he plays. As long as Durant or Perkins are around to clean up his missed shots.

I'm not so sure it's his style of play that needs to change, but his stupid habit of making poor decisions when he's hot and cold. He should know when he's having a hard time getting on a streak, yet that always seems just the right time for him to play the hero and bring the team back. I'm sorry, but the guy needs to recognize the fact that he is not seen as the team's clutch; that is easily Durant or Harden in 4th QTR situations.

And it's really just a reason I can not stand Westbrook. He can be a Top 5 scorer all day, but he comes across as trying to get the same recognition as Durant does for the team when he's just too unpredictable on whether he can stay at on fire shooting or not. The guy just seems to have too much of an ego of himself & as wrong as it is, I 'd actually prefer the Thunder don't win this just to spite him (I was already really hoping for Miami so that James' haters would knock off what happened last year).

My count may be off some, doesn't the Lakers rivals ~ BOSTON have 17 CHAMPIONSHIPS leading the entire league? But NO DOUBT 1 or 2, those 2 teams being the very BEST ever in the history of the game. My point was just to say above that the entire league collectively is getting more balanced and in the coming yrs you won't see repeats or possibly Boston and Lakers who have done it so many times, will not be in the finals...Playoffs, maybe depending on the off season moves as you said.
Your count is correct but the Lakers have won more in the modern era of basketball than the Celtics. The Lakers won 5 from 2000 to 2010 and won 10 overall since 1980 (the Jerry Buss era). The Celtics won 13 of 17 before 1977then 3 in the 80's and one in 2008. Even though I'm not a Celtic fan I have respect for them and in the 80's and 90's they had tragedies (Len Bias and Reggie Lewis) which quite possibly derailed their getting back to the championship sooner than they did.

One thing that you have to realize about the Lakers and Celtics organization they expect to win and they will pull off something to get back to the championship because their owners and fans expect it. Some franchises only care about getting to the playoffs or having records over .500 or making a profit but not the Lakers and not Boston. In other words no matter how much parity or balance in the league don't count these 2 franchises out they know how to make deals happen to get what they need to win.

He's kind of a hothead, agreed. I've read that he wants the same league-wide recognition as Derrick Rose as opposed to Kevin Durant.

Of all the players, he wants the same recognition as Rose? Not to say Westbrook isn't talented, but Rose has an amazing amount of raw skill. He's got an unbelievable jump shot under heavy defense, some nasty buzzer-beater 3's, & an incredible finish to the basket.

Rose is simply put, quite a good jack of all trades & he's tough to cool off where as enough defense on Westbrook when he's trying to get into the game, and he starts rushing himself.

Credit Westbrook for him being as good as he is...he couldn't start over Jordan Farmar or Darren Collison back in his UCLA days. But he's no Derrick Rose, not yet.

SELF QUOTE: Wade w/22-25+ pts HEAT WIN! for the 100th time... WADE 25pts Game 3

and updating a stat fun fact that earlier was against the HEAT. The team that wins GAME 3 is 85% to win it ALL...

What a ALL AROUND performance from the HEAT! Great game from Wade and some really good over all tight defense with OKC's 3...Sure they scored, and will...But NOT at will for the most part. Enough to slow them down and the HEAT to keep up their fast paced game.

BTW... Nice GAME SHOT 3 pointer there KD! "The league BEST SCORER"... Oh my fault, that was Russell Westbrook that took the 3 pointer as if HE! was the leagues best shooter. ~ lol That cocky funny guy... The Fresh Prince reference above says it all...

I think we had a little luck but OKC shot themselves in the foot a few times. Both teams' D was insane. Sefolosha kept them in it defensively and even that one breakaway on that Wade. Man Wade shot poorly and had huge turnovers at the half. Bosh shot poorly as well but his offensive rebounds and blocks were huge. In the 4th only 4 for KD and Westbrook each. KD gotta stay out of foul trouble. We came right back once he hit the bench in the 3rd.

The 2 fouls behind the 3 point line helped us shift the momentum back to our side.

I think this could be said on either side... Both teams have their ups and downs. This series just seems like who will carry the last wave of momentum and score the last shot WINS! Which calls for a ALL OUT BALLS TO THE WALL BAR FIGHT! Should be a good one boys. Because don't think for one second those youngsters are not going to come out firing on all cylinders next Miami game. They will refuse to lose all the Miami home games. If thay do...They could be in trouble and OKC will be the NEW ringless wonder to talk about in the off season after making it just about back to back with last yr just falling short... Can't wait till the next game

I think OKC wooped their own asses yesterday. KD also disappeared in the 4th, dunno if it's because of defense, but he had some bad shot selections in the 4th anyway. There was also a stretch where Westbrook just started playing street ball while they were ahead, and as a result, gave a shit ton of turnovers and bad jump shots, so Brooks benched him.

Also, a couple phantom calls on KD that I and the announcers found fishy. It sucked seeing the lead go the fuck away when both KD and WB were benched for a good amount of time in the 3rd. Harden, I dunno what happened to him this series.

Gotta give cred to Miami though, they had some awesome ball movement yesterday that reminded me of 20-streak Spurs.

^ The more I see of Westbrook, the more I think someone needs to sit him down and teach him to slow down his game. He's super talented/athletic, but tends to get worked up and take bad shots. Like he's always going super fast - he needs to switch it up like DRose, who can change and control the pace of the game.

And I absolutely hate Harden.. the dude flops on almost every foul call he gets!

I was watching first take on espn and was surprised to hear that Westbrook wasn't a point guard until getting to okc. So pretty much he's a pg but a scorers mentality. Although I would say this is an issue but they got to the finals so it works for them.

He got called for it in Game 2. If he does it tomorrow night, I'd love to see the NBA finally step in since Stern did say they were going to crack down on flopping.

^ Lol I remember that.

I'm all for gamesmanship in getting calls, its part of the game - but there should atleast be some legitimate contact involved.

There was one foul where Harden was just standing next to a Heat player, and then throws his arms up and jumps backwards (completely pretended to get hit) and he got the call!

I most definitely expect to see it from him tonight since they're down and they desperately need more trips to the line - I'm gonna keep a Harden flop counter going.

If the Heat win tonight, I'm almost certain there will be no trip back to OKC.

Westbrook caught a case of pre-playoffs Lebron: Be amazing most of the game, fall apart at the end, get ridiculed for it. Life's all about the worst thing you ever did, I guess.

Objectively speaking, I think we'll be saying congrats to the Heat on Thursday.

Also, anyone still thinking Lebron is a choker needs to put that bullshit to rest after this series. He's been absolutely amazing in clutch moments.

I wanna believe OKC can pull the trophy away, but, it's hard to do so after seeing meltdown after meltdown.
