So, it looks like Niemi is going to arbitration...and if that does not work out, I'm guessing another platoon committee in net.

Crawford and maybe an UFA goalie (i.e. Theodore, etc.)...?

at all the "reports" at Dustin Brown taking Kovalchuk around town in LA today.....maybe he'll take him to "Universal Studios...you know...see the shark".

...and Ilya's wife hanging out with music industry artists....

This is nuts....but the new rumor is the contract is quite lower in cost and length...and that is good news!

Why wouldn't Kovy sign with LA...?

IMO, that's the team that makes most sense for him if "winning" is what it's about. They are the only good team that can fit him...and they play a system he can do well in.

And yeah, with that "singer" wife of his, why NOT LA...?

^^...because Deano won't give away the store for him....so if he is all about the coin, he can join Uncle Lou in the stench that is NJ.

If anything, as I said, it may be Niemi gone. But, as they shown last year, they can have success with a no-name goalie. It all starts with on the blueline.

Well, if Quick shows he's the one...you have a crowded net. There's still Zatkoff too, no?

What I learned on my summer vacation...

...despite Yummy da Hurt locker cha~cha cakes wishing "harm" on the entire Red Wings organization, he's actually a pretty good guy.

We met up at Foo’s Ho Ho for some traditional Lo Wah Kiu (old overseas Chinese) cooking style and shared a Kokanee to bury the hatchet. Love your town Yummy cakes - the sea to the sky never gets old, even if its not ski season!

I think the Hawks over-paid. 4-4.5 cap hit max for Hossa.

Have you not read my past bunch of posts about Deano, the cap, Kovi, the CBA?

If LA is going to sign Kovy, and the CBA/cap is what it is, I'd rather see him at a 5.3 cap hit versus 6.5-7.5 or more with the whole cap/CBA deal coming in a couple of years.

Do I think these long terms deals are nuts? Yup, still do.

I still feel Deano won't sign Kovi unless the deal is way in the Kings favor.
He really holds all the cards in this deal. Kings have nothing to lose...Kovy is the one that would be desparate....not L.A.

I think the Kings can trade assets and are not do or die on Kovy....but that's just me. I'd like to see a trade versus a Kovy sign.

...my guess is "if" this deal goes down the contract will have a hefty signing bonus in a couple of years....when we are faced with another possible lock-out.

Like I always thought...somewhere deep down inside Dean Lombardi would not do a crazy deal for Kovy.

Let the trades begin.

He's a potential top 5 scorer, but probably not even a top 10 player. There is a reason why he was on the open market for so long.

If this deal with NJ is 7 years 60 million...as "reported".....I'm VERY glad the Kings did not sign him. 8.5mill cap hit is nuts.

That kind of a hit would destroy the Kings in 2 years.

Not even close.

The negotiations were relatively low-key. He did not do any press conferences or announcements...nor made any AWing Twitter account.

Sure, we may :thumbsdow his choice of NJ compared to LA but ultimately, NJ still is a decent team...just on paper, not as close to winning the Cup as the Kings. Then again, who knows who'll win the Cup...
