Yep, they like knees to the head so much, they traded him Neal

And fwiw, Neal was the only Shero signing without a no trade clause, good move

Go figure...I mean, what was said to him is not really that much different to what he did to others...

I seriously hope it's just he's on vacation and not because he got bum-hurt because he can't take his own medicine.

But, remember: Good enough = crap.

I seriously doubt that. He won. He would be here telling us (me) how bad the Rangoons sucked & great/totally dominating the Kings are/were.

I am disappointed, but if I am honest I was sure the Rangers were done at 1-3 against Pittsburgh.

Kinda yawner at the Draft.

Not much action but I suspect the lower-than-expected cap ceiling put a damper on things.

But, the UFA stupidity has not started...so, I'm sure the overpayments will be seen there.

Mein gott...it's so boring watching this thing that I'm even reading Poo's blog.

He's reporting that Pens are talking to Sharks about Marleau...Like, okay. I know Poo makes stuff out of his ...but, seriously? Really?

Extremely upset about the Neal trade. He was my favorite pens player...

$5M cap hit for a 30-40 goal scorer, seemed worth it to me. They better pray Hornqvist can get at least 30 goals or this trade is total fucking shit.

Rumor has it we are trying to re-sign Jokinen and trade for Miller. If we end up with Ryan Miller out of all this, it will be ok, but right now I feel like crying into my Neal jersey.

Not Crosby? Not Malkin?

You should wonder why Neal has been traded twice now. Is there something "off" about him that makes teams give up on him?

I remember about 3-4 years ago my sons hockey team got to play a scrimmage game in between periods at a local OHL game. It was against the Barrie Colts and it was Aaron Ekblads first year. As the 1st period was winding down, the parents got to go in between the penalty boxes to watch. Ekblads was just called for a minor and skated over to the box. He was 15 years old but looked like a fawkin man. Huge dude with a full beard didn't know who he was but another parent filled me in and said he'd probably go #1 someday. I just couldn't believe he was 15 years old at the time. Kids today......

prolly #1 neal #2 malkin

read an article last night that neal was a 20 goal scorer before he played with malkin, so i hope hornqvist can net 30-35 with malkin.

So did they trade him because of his cheapshots/diving or because he was the only asset they could trade? Your own statement makes it seem like the latter no the former. Soft on the ice, soft in the locker room, soft in contract negotiations.

I'm surprised you didn't know that.

Neal is basically the modern version of Rob Brown. Playing next to Malkin will raise anyone's goal-scoring output by at least 10-15 goals.

Hornqvist is similar to Holmstrom...he'll stand in front of the net and score a heap of garbage-pail goals. Gritty, underrated player because he played on the Preds.

He's just the latest player in a long list to be added to the yeah I met him and got his autograph list, I have a special wall dedicated to those 8x10's

Forgot about this trade between the Blues and Leafs: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=455924

Polak is a pretty good lower-pairing D-man. Tough as nails.

They had 7 options for trades vs 8 guys with no trade clauses. Of the 7, 2 were larger than 3 mill hits on the cap, Kunitz and Neal. Of the other 5 guys, the highest cap hit is 900,000. If you took the the other 5 guys who could be traded (Bennett, Adams, Maatta, Bortuzzo and Zatkoff) their combined salary is about 3.6 mil against the cap.

Pitt had 2 guys who could be traded clear reasonable cap space and bring in another working piece. They have about 46.7 million (8 players) against the cap in pieces that cannot be moved. They still need to fill 5 forward positions and 1 defense position to have an NHL roster.

Soft management put them in a bad spot.

LOL, I don't post everything Blackhawks-related per se. And not sure most of the regulars in here would've noticed nor cared about who he is...

Yeah, not sure how I feel about that trade.

But, with the cap set at $69M, Hawks had to shed some salary...he does in some way remind me of Thornton. Teams need players like him...but, I suppose this paves the room for Morin or Mashinter.

I suspect more players are going to leave the Hawks. Oduya and Sharp perhaps.

Since Moog is not here to post the trade, here's an awesome one by Deano trading Linden Vey for a 2nd rounder.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=455923

Of course, it's genius. As are all moves by Deano.

I hope my line about genius is right for once in this thread. I can't take anymore being wrong all the time.

I'm not sure Bollig is the locker room leader Thornton is but he's also 10-12 years younger I believe so he could develop a voice. I would have liked to see him end up in Boston but he already makes more than Thornton and they already decided they couldn't afford him.

The b's have some cap issues from Iginlas performance bonuses from last year. Chiarelli has been joking that other GMs know about it and have been very vocal about their willingness to "help the Bruins", help the Bruins meaning "youve got some stuff we want".

WTFBBQ @ Oilers...

Fayne for 4 years @ $3.5M per...Pouliot for 5 years @ $4M per...

I mean, Pouliot had a nice season...but, he's floated around forever from team to team. Okiedokie...there's your first 2 stupid signings of the day. Way to crank up the price for depth players, Edmonton.
