I think Julien does a good job riding the line between task master and players coach. I'd assume Babcock is the same way, you won't last as long as they have with the same team by going too far in either direction.

Yeah, the top coaches know how to balance...but, generally speaking, I don't believe most are the screaming tyrants a la Keenan.

Hearing Glenn Healy on NHL radio and he said during Iron Mike's days in NY, the players HATED him. Don't think that style will go far at all...let alone a Cup in today's NHL.

Keenan ruined every organization he ever coached at. He completely obliterated the Blues in the 90's. If you wanted to bring him in have him kick some ass for half a season and light a fire to get you to the cup, he's probably your guy, see his work in the KHL this year. If you want your players to consider suicide and hate their job, he's your guy long term

Finals in 85, 87, can't recall the year with Chicago and then 94. So 4 finals and 1 Cup.

I wouldn't say he's ruined every organization he's been to. But he's act wears thin fast. Torts is the modern day Keenan.

Again, look at the eras...the NHL of the 80s and 90s are very different than today's.

But, he was definitely successful (look at his wins)...just not going to find work in the League anymore. Probably a reason why he's coaching in the KHL now.

He's going to tell you all coaches need to be like Darryl Sutter.

Cuz, everything King is the standard.

Even the fact that 90% of LA could care less if the Kings won the Cup...which is unfortunate.

His rep is tough but fair. Loves his veterans a bit too much though. He's on record as saying that every coach has a shelf life and before players start to tune out, so it wouldn't shock me if he leaves (pun intended) after his contract is up next season. His oldest daughter will be graduating from high school at the same time, so it makes sense.

Hope not though, I'd like to see him make another run at a cup in Hockeytown.

I could totally see Shanny making a pitch to Babs ego because we all know Toronto is the biggest coaching challenge. You basically have six million opinions on how to run that team, plus one dude who failed at pro hockey who does really does know how to run the team.

Id be willing to bet the NBA finals are getting better ratings in both LA and NY than the NHL finals are.

According to the blog writer over at Hockeybuzz.com, this is where the Kings stand in LA...crazy. Pretty darn good team to watch and a pretty good sport...people are missing out!

Sadly, L.A. Kings are second banana to the Lakers, Clippers, Dodgers, Puig batflips, the NBA, The NFL, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James cramps, Alyssa Milano at hockey games, any movie star doing anything anywhere, etc. etc....etc. etc.

Go pour yourself a bombay sapphire, seems like gin is the secret sauce to winning a game in June this year.

In college I worked at a post production company just south of Hollwood & west of Vine. That area was a pit & this was the early 80s.
